All I am doing is trying to get on with my life and some awful ‘friend’ from his past won’t leave me alone. She sent me a horrible message last night and when I chose to take the high road this morning and just not respond at all she sent me another one saying that her first message had been heartfelt. Really? Then why did it have me and both his brother and sister-in-law so upset when I told them what it said?
I have received many kind words from many true friends but she is not one of them.
I’m sorry that I keep making the MMP my personal blog. Forgive me. I really am trying to move on.
It’s been a very short time since things have happened, Sticks and Scones. It’s still happening to you and yours, and will do so in a small way, forever. Right now it’s a HUGE THING, don’t try to minimize it. Just keep sharing; it will help in a small way even though you won’t realize it until later.
I’ve thought about it and I don’t think I was just misinterpreting her first message and here’s why… I’ve received at least a dozen messages of sympathy from friends of his and this is the first one that I found upsetting. And, while I had known about the existence of this person in his life, I didn’t know her name and had no idea that the message that I received was from her. So, in other words, I wasn’t already biased against the person sending the message and judged it solely on content.
Ok, enough of that.
I for one am jealous of Soapy’s new blue and pink hairdo to come!
I’m going to have to cut all the purple out of my hair in about 3 weeks or so.
For now I’m just killing time until I head out to dinner with his family. I think this is gonna be hard as it will be the first time that we’ve all been together since he passed. But I think it’s better to do this today as next week will be another gathering for his niece’s birthday and I certainly wouldn’t want her party to be a somber occasion.
Afternoon all. swampy you have my endorsement as well. Beer on ice is gooooooood. I plan on having one later as it is 106 degrees here right now and it hit 103 before noon!
I got up early and headed to The Mawl before The Crazy did. I got a new purse on sale and a new clutch also on sale and some clothes on sale as well have having a $40 rewards check to use so they were almost free and some yummy girly things from Sephora and a new sleeve for my iPad. I have also been to the grocery store and done laundry and Skyped with my parents. So productive day today that didn’t involve cleaning! All I need to do now is fold and put away laundry and work out.
Welcome back phouka and sorry sticky that someone is being a butt right now.
Laundry is off the lines, folded, and in the bedroom awaiting disposition into various drawers. I decorated several pieces of pottery, and I think I’ll have them all done so I can run the kiln on Tuesday. When I came back in from laundry-ing, Ziva was making pre-horking sounds, so I tried to slide a piece of paper under her face. She freaked, bolted, and left a line of hairball hork across the living room, then paused to add another spot by the dining room. Idiot cat. Thank goodness for my carpet cleaner.
On first read, I saw this as “…has loogies and is hokey.”
A short afternoon project to clean up Outer Manland (the toolshed) morphed into an emergency freezer defrost when I saw the door was blocked open by a 3" layer of rime ice on the top coil. :smack: Both are spiffy now, and I’s tahred.
Work out done. My butt is tired. mr ems offered to rub it better but he is in TX
Laundry is put away and I have the sprinkler going on the front yard. The sprinkler system here is terrible and leaks and the heads don’t pop up but the sprinkler guy the leasing agent sent said there was nothing wrong with them. Not my house and we did our part by informing the agent but we have to take care of the yard as part of the lease so we bought a $10 thingy for the hose and put it on a few times a week. Much easier the yard meets standards and it has also cut the water bill waaaaaay down.
Tonight is single girl food of baked potato with cheese. Once I drink this last 8oz of water I am going to have a beer.
Which was the highlight of my day.
Last night was our first night at the new place. By morning we’d realized that, hey, the toilet doesn’t really flush. 3 different plungers and a snake later, I realize that not only is nothing really working, but there is now a horrific dripping sound that sounds like it’s inside the wall behind the sink cabinet. Only happens when the toilet is flushed, not when the sink is run.
Regardless, that’s not good, so we called the rental company, who of course won’t get the message until Monday. So…no toilet.
We are renting from ex in-laws, so we called Nancy to let her know that we had moved in just fine but that there was something possibly seriously wrong with the plumbing. She can’t do anything from where she is, as anything and all that has to do with house maintenance has to go through the rental company. (I’m not convinced of this is any way except fiscally, but not much we can do from here)
There is a back-house, which she used to use with her husband to winter in. Very small, more a large, pretty solid shack than a house. But it has a toilet.
Problem is, we don’t have a key. Cousin X was supposed to have come down from Washington by now to move some things out of there and give us keys to the place. But wait! We can climb in the bathroom window! It’s the only window in the whole place. It’s also 8 feet off the ground and about…oh, I’d say 2 foot wide, one foot tall.
But hey, look, someone left a ladder for us, on our side of the property. The side of the house that the bathroom window is on is covered with metal detritus, and the back of the place is blocked off by a van. MrTao is a large man, there is no way he was even getting TO the window, much the less through it. So he heaved the ladder over for me, I squeezed past the van and danced through the car parts graveyard, figured the ladder would barely hold me but would suffice; no problem!
The window is, of course, locked. But wait…look, someone thoughtfully cut a hole in it, perfectly circular, right next to the latch! And it’s just covered up with tape!
So I get the tape and glass out, wriggle my had in there, figure out the latch <which was harder than it sounds>, and take a look inside. Hey, only 3 feet down to the toilet.
Anyway, I contorded myself a few different ways; luckily the roof is shingles and not metal, like many are, 'cause I would have burned the shit out of my hands using it for leverage. Got in. Toilet functions, barely, as it’s a low-flow and takes a long time and a couple of flushes to work, but it beats the alternative.
And now we have an indoor outhouse, yay!!
So it’s Sunday morning and I’m up and about at 9am…but nobody else is. The cats are fed and I have a list of things to do but they’re all noisy jobs (vacuuming and stuff) so I can’t do any of them until everyone’s done sleeping. But I also need to go outside and strim the grass in the back, can’t do that yet either because sleeping in the heat means all the back windows are open. Bah.
And there are some serious stormclouds out there.
I may have to cook bacon in an attempt to get people up…
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 75 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 95 and a chance of tstorms. Plus I feel mostly alive. Definitely better than I thought I would feel this mornin’.
Thank you BooFae. Deheathenization and N.O.L. are the big plans for the day. I foresee an afternoon of bein’ a slug which sounds good to me.
Now I need more caffiene and should soon consider feedin’ rumbly tummy. Purtification for deheathenization must also commence. I have a box of school supplies to take as we’re collectin’ school supplies for the kiddies.
Happy Swampasaurus Day!
Happy Swampasaurus Day!
Happy Swampasaurus Day!
Haaaaaaaaaaappy Swampasaurus Day!*
You old fart…
We lost intrarwebs and a buttload of TV channels plus our phone service last night. I called my daughter via cell and her cable service was screwed up, too, so it was a system problem. I gave up and went to bed, and it’s all back now, so life is good.
She’s coming over this morning, and we’ll have breakfast, then take her to Staples to load up on supplies for the school year. She requested that in lieu of b-day presents, even tho her b-day isn’t till Sept. But we always help her out with classroom supplies, so the tradition continues.
Idiot Taz peed on our bedspread when it was piled on the floor - I pulled it off the bed when I stripped the sheets. As a result, I need to launder the stupid bedspread today. At least it’ll be a good day to hang it on the line, so there’s that. And I’ll be in my studio again decorating some more pottery. Overall, it should be an easy day.
*The appropriate melody is from the Happy Anniversary song from the Flintstones. Just so’s you know.
Happy Birthday to You!
Happy Birthday to You!
Happy Birthday Dear swampy!
Happy Birthday to Yooouuuuuuuuuu!
That look about right?
I was up at 7, since Gordie had his butt on the pillow next to my face, and dog #2 was singing the song of his people to one of the neighbors walking his dog. I’m gonna go to the Laundromat, then clean. I might hit the pool, if the thunderstorms hold off.
