Hippo Birfday, Swampus!
I have been awake since 3:15 am, and up and out of bed since 4:00. Sometimes I just can’t sleep. Almost every day I wake up around 3:00, but i can usually get back to sleep. Not today.
I’m gonna have to start cooking some bacon, too. SOMEbody needs to wake up and keep me company. He’s been asleep since before I went to bed!
I’ve watered the plants and done some laundry. No cooking tonight, since we’re taking ReboSon & Co out to dinner for his birthday, which was Friday. (He had to work.) I can’t believe my baby is 28 years old! I got him a gift card, and a Texas A&M t-shirt. PawPaw is giving him $50 in cash.
I went shopping yesterday, and bought a new nightgown. It’s comfy! I also picked up some baby clothes - who can resist? I saw the cutest little outfits for Halloween of all things, but I refrained - for now. I also got Faye a package of 3D sidewalk chalk and stencils. It comes with 3D glasses, but I have no idea how that will work. I’m sure she’ll show me!
Have a nice day, everyone.
Happy Birthday Swampy, Ye Olde Pharte.
Wait a minute…does Swampy share a birthday with Hugo Chavez?
Happy swampy day!
Laaaazy day today. But first coffee!
Hippo Birdies Two Ewes, Deer Swampy!!!
Happy Birthday, swampy!
Happy Birthday, dearest Swampy!
Polar went hunting last night. I found his kill in my backyard this morning. A very large, very dead, and bloody possum. Ugh. I ran out there and double bagged that thing so Polar wouldn’t start gutting the thing. We need a barfy smiley.
We got one section of fencing replaced yesterday and will do another today. We got a late start because the trip to Lowes was not a good one. Also, we did the “hard” section of fencing yesterday. This one required the fence boards be cut at an angle to adjust for the upward slope in the ground there. Anyway, by the time we finished that, hubby didn’t want to do the second section. We plan on knocking that out today.
happy, happy birthday swampy
I don’t remember if I mentioned this, but I asked my prof if I could still come to class but take an incomplete and finish the research papers in a couple of weeks or so. I sent this email on Thursday and he just replied this morning saying no. Apparently I’d have to take it up with the department, but dammit, there’s only two weeks left. By the time I talked to someone and pled my case, what if they said no?
Someday I’m going to come in here and have something positive to say, I swear it.
Going international for swampyday:
Feliz, feliz en tu día,
Amiguito qué Dios te bendiga,
Qué reine la paz en tu día,
Y qué cumplas muchos más.
(It’s a kids’ birthday song that I learned from my Puerto Rican friends…Here’s a kind of odd, very short film that starts with it.)
Thinking of you a lot, Sticky. Hang in there. Hugs. On preview, I’m seeing your post about the prof. and am having only uncharitable thoughts about him. Try to reach the chair of the department to discuss. (Soapy - does that sound like good advice to you?)
Got a fair amount done yesterday: did a bit of laundry, did some clean-up in my room, made refrigerator pickles, went to the farmers’ market, and spent a couple of hours sipping gin and tonics and chatting with my neighbor on her porch.
Oh…and watched some Olympics. Can’t stand NBC’s coverage, but love the summer Olympics because we were in Mexico for the 1968 ones and went to all kinds of events that were really fun (tickets to the less popular sports were affordable), went to practices for some of the others (diving and gymnastics) and watched everything we could on TV. It was also really neat to run into athletes in random places. I really hate all the financial crap that comes with the Olympics these days; seems like there ought to be a way to make them accessible to everyone, both in person and in broadcast to make them truly global…
Guess I should get moving on today’s stuff: groceries, further closet and dresser clean-up, and irk stuff. Nephew is supposed to be here at some point. (Yay! I haven’t seen him in several weeks and have missed him.)
Hugs all.

Interesting, **gt **- I’ve heard of making pickles from cukes and watermelon rind and assorted veggies, but refrigerators???
Back from breakfast and buying a buttload of supplies for daughter’s classroom. I think we managed to stay under $200. The worst was the colored printer paper - $12 per ream!!! Is paper dye that expensive??
Oh well - off to the studio with me.
HAPPY SWAMPY DAY
HAPPY SWAMPY DAY
HAPPY SWAMPY DAY
Long brutal weekend of work I will clean house and drink myself into a stupor
Howdy all, I have been lurking and not saying much so…
Hugs, tears, and congrats where app
That is all for now
JIM
Hey…it’s Wil Wheaton’s birthday, too. And he also subscribes to the don’t-be-a-jerk philosophy. Although he puts it less politely.
I never knew Swampy and Wesley Crusher had so much in common
Love it! I just sent it by text to Dave’s son. Dave would always do his best impression of Sheldon (from Big Bang Theory) saying “Wil Wheaton!!”
Thanks for the smile.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SWAMPY!! It may or may not rain here, though it occasionally will grace us with a drop or two, but if it does, our back yard will BE a swamp, and I will make mud pies in your honour.
Also might have a drink later in your honour. It will have nothing to do with trying to forget the horrors of cleaning up the old place, nope.
Man, I thought* my* post was cold…
Thanks for the bday wishes y’all! Mumpers be the bestest!
I also share a birthday with Rasputin, Benito Mussolini and gag Marylin Quail. gag
Breakfast II was in the world’s smallest restaurant. There was a bar with 8 stools along the front. The opposite side held the counter & two tables, with a combined five chairs. If you wanted a cold drink from the glass-front fridge, or coffee, or to use the small powder room, you had to squeeze behind the folks sitting at the table. Don’t know who looked at this postage stamp & said, “Yeah, I’m gonna open me a restaurant here”
