MMP - Peep hunts and other interesting events

mika, someone like that coluld drop by and tie anything she wanted on me. Or around me. Or just tie me up, if that’s what she wants.

You posted at 8 AM, man! At 8 AM I was still putting in my contacts. Besides, I thought the MMP was well-nigh unkillable.

Must have been something in the air. Last night when I got home, Lil Lestat[sup]TM[/sup] and Mr. Anachi were outside wandering the yard and discussing lawn care and gardening. Son lives in a rental and has decided to spruce up the yard.

rosy, very nice pictures. Some very artsy type ones what would look good blown up and onna wall.

mika, I’m likin the fashion pics. Somehow I never thought of the ethnic Indian clothing as evolving fashionwise like western fashion does. That were dumb! Very pretty and I adore the colors.

Billing is almost done. Just some minor adjustments and copying to do. Whoo hoo.

I am so glad it’s Friday. Do we have an OP for Monday?

Tupug

 I’m SOOOOO jealous! I LOVE lovelovelove the Wrentham outlets. That was really about the only good part of living out there. I still try to get back there a couple times a year. I think I’m going to have to go hit them up before I move.

Oh, and the rest of your trip sounds like fun too. :stuck_out_tongue:

As **mika **said, I ran into her last night. Lotsa fun. It’s much better to have someone to talk to while working out, even if that leaves you totally out of breath!

I’m so stressed about the new job stuff and so unmotivated about my current job stuff. ::sigh:: At least today’s a half day and then I’m going home (to parents’) to get my last eye exam at my current eye doctor’s. And to get my snow tires off. And to go to Brook’s because it’s a local legend and I want to eat there again before moving. Man, it’s tough to get in everything I want to do before I move!

Oh good - a stalker in my part of town.

And mika sorry I missed your link earlier. Thank you.

I like those salwar kameez. I’ve got one, but it’s not as pretty- it’s red with cream embroidery. Very comfy.

taxi, it is difficult to cram a couple of years’ worth of shopping and eating into a few months, isn’t it?

Today I tidy and finish up the grocery shopping (plus figuring out what we’re going to be eating for the next week, and then a friend is coming over to watch a movie this evening. It’s another beautiful sunny day here. This almost makes up for not getting a proper winter.

HEY! :wally :o

Absolutely, go for it. Speaking of which …

And now I’m going to go fill out some forms that will sign me up for a laptop tradeup program. I give them my 3 year old clunker IBM Thinkpad T40, and they give me a shiny new IBM Thinkpad T43 at reduced cost. My parents and I have agreed on this as a graduation present.

That’s the only way to describe a trip through the U.S. DOL Employment Standards Administration Wage and Hour Division. Envy me! See, since we provide 24/7 residential services to persons with disabilities, we have to make sure we do right. One of the biggie problems is whether or not someone is paid for sleep time. I’m thinking that, since we have no one on duty for 24 or more hours at a time, we do have to pay for sleep time. Apparently Wage and Hour is agreeing with me, much to the consternation of my boss. Fun stuff. Oh and I’m working on some stuff about overtime pay too. I have no idea why I’m doing this, except that I do like wading through all this policy and procedure stuff. This should be something HR is doing, IMO. Oh well, I can do that for a while, come in here for a while, go back to that for a while, wash, rinse, repeat…

So, who is up for Monday? We need a volunteer. Come on, don’t be shy now.

Oh, to be paid for sleeping!

You all will not believe what I’m doing tomorrow night. I am going to see … live …

ahem …

Larry the Cable Guy!

I’m so excited. I think he’s a hoot!

[sarcastic mode off]
**Swampy, I thought you were the HR person where you work. Or, you are pretty much the administrative bear in charge, and that is one of the many hats you wear daily.

[sarcasm restored]

Bobbio I am the policy/procedure and rules/regs SOB. I also manage our vocational services. This means that I am the one that is supposed to make sure we maintain all our accreditations, certifications, licensures and stuff. So, some of what I do spills over into HR but we have a HR person who hadles the day to day HR stuff. She also calls me a bajillion times a day about stuff, but that’s ok. Problem is sometimes people (coughmybosscough) choose not to listen to what I say until we have a problem. Thus my trip through USDOL land today.

Someone is sick, so I get to go in to work. Yay.

Perhaps the cats will do the chores while I’m away.

Hi, honeys, I’m hooooome!

It was boring at the office and with both of my bosses in training all day, I couldn’t progress a whole lot with my project, so I decided I needed the afternoon off. I stand by my decision.

As soon as I walked into the house, FCD called - the boat sale is a done deal. He needed the loan info. We’ll probably close Monday or Tuesday. If it’s Monday, it has to be late because I have training till 4.

So, now that it’s done, I’m not as happy as I’d thought I’d be. I haven’t met these people, but I don’t like the way they treated our boat. Soon it’ll be their boat. And we’ll be boatless for the first time since 1990 - that’ll be weird. I was almost hoping the deal would fall through, but it’s really the best thing for us to do. Still, this has been the best boat we’ve ever had and the one we’ve had the longest. <sigh>

In other news, my next ceramics class starts tomorrow - yay! I’ll get to pick up the last of the stuff from last session, and I’ll try to get pics posted this weekend. Our only other weekend plan is to get the garage door opener installed - it’s been a month at least since the old one died. Such is my wild life.

I think I may go dust something…

Oh! I wasn’t ready for you to be boatless! I was all prepared for Nice Boat People to come in and pamper your baby and you to be all happy about the sale. I did miss the beginning of this boat sale saga, however – are you planning to get another one?

Whee! Another one of my threadspotted threads made Threadspotting.™ Gwan over and read it. It’s funny!

Just got back from the dentist.

The hygenist there (who is really cute, but very ham-fisted with the dental tools) told me that she’s only been bitten by little kids. She’s says that she can pretty much sense when someone is going to clamp down. “Yeah, like when you’re scraping around with that pikeaxe you got there.”

Things really sound a lot funnier in my head than when I release them into the wild.

See Drae.

See Drae answer the phones.

See Drae beat someone to death with the receiver and then maybe garrotte somebody else with the headset cord.

Kill, Drae, kill!

I’ve got customers screaming at me because the person who is taking over for one of our salesmen (out for vacation) won’t pick up the phone–like there’s anything I can do about that. I tell them to please hold, he’ll be with them as soon as they can … and then they hang up and call me right the fuck back. Then somebody’s trying to send a fax to our main number. Then one of my customers decides he needs to call so I can explain via phone the exact same thing I explained via e-mail ten minutes ago (using the exact same words). Then Takeover-For-Salesman guy (who is my verson of Roundboy) tells me he can’t possibly cover my lunch because he’s just too busy and through all of this I’ve got the owner’s daughter in the cubicle right behind me, pretending to be a customer service rep, which would be cute, if she weren’t so loud I feel like I can’t hear anything else.

sigh I feel better now. Thank you.

Happy Friday y’all.

I have been busy, busy, busy since arriving here at work, but the day is really, really dragging.

The hubby and I are going out to dinner with some friends tonight and tomorrow night we’re going to another friend’s house for a party. Sunday plans include going out on the boat. Mr. Taters is talking about doing some water skiing, but I dunno, it’s still be cold. Air temps won’t be all that bad, but the water temps will still be relatively cool. We have wet suits, but I’m not all that interested in freezing AFTER I come out of the water. We’ll see, I may be fretting for nothing.

I had to get my glasses repaired this morning. Fortunately, there’s a little optical/glasses shop down on the ground floor so I was able to take care of it here. One of my damn nose pieces snapped off this morning, so I had to replace both because they didn’t have nose pieces that matched what I currently had on my glasses. Oh, well. It cost me a WHOLE $3.25.

Other than that, I got bupkus…for now. I didn’t really get a chance to scan entries since I last posted, because I have more work to do. Hopefully, I’ll get a chance to later.

and

and
 yet again.

I just wrote a check for the cabinets and the install. It DOES not include the floor or the countertops…$7000+

I’ll be over here in the corner, recovering from poverty and lack of savings…

(this blue guy is not doing it–I need wholesale outright terror)

That’s a lot of cash for some redecorating. Can’t you trade them some sweat equity for a few grand?

And the Hamfisted Cutie just called me! I think she reads the Dope!

We may well get another boat eventually. The point of selling this one was to get out from under the expenses, get the necessary pre-retirement work done on the house, and in the interim, charter different boats in an effort to decide what we want to get next, in a few years.

We were discussing this weekend - the advantage of chartering is that we can go anywhere - the Great Lakes, New England, PNW, or just here on the Chesapeake. Since FCD is a Coast Guard licensed captain, getting charters will be a piece of cake. And we don’t have to deal with maintenance or worrying about when storms come through.

Just got off the phone with the bank and the broker getting the payoff info - what a fiasco that was! Now I just need to know exactly when we're closing.
