MMP - Peep hunts and other interesting events

Hey guys, I have a joke for you that I heard this morning and which made me laugh:

A beautiful blonde New York woman was so depressed that she decided
to end her life by throwing herself into the ocean. But, just before she
threw herself from the docks, a handsome young sailor stopped
her.
“You have so much to live for,” said the sailor. “Look, I’m off to
Europe tomorrow and I can stow you away on my ship. I’ll take care of you,
Bring you food every day, and keep you happy.”
With nothing to lose, plus she had always wanted to go to Europe, the woman accepted. That night the sailor
brought her aboard and hid her in a lifeboat. From then on, every night, he would bring her three sandwiches
and make love to her until dawn.
Three weeks later, she was discovered by the captain during a routine
Inspection.
“What are you doing here?” asked the captain.
“I have an arrangement with one of your sailors,” she replied. “He
Brings me food and I get a free trip to Europe. Plus, he’s screwing
Me.”
“He certainly is,” replied the captain. “This is the Staten Island
Ferry.”

Spats, Anaamika, peeps are the culinary equivalent of a root canal without anesthesia. They’re even worse than Whoppers[sup]TM[/sup].

Now that I’ve got more time, I’ll expand on my weekend. On Saturday I took the brats and wife to see the battle field at Gettysburg. We had a nice day walking around the battlefield (though the kids were totally bored by all of my historical trivia, but that’s kids for ya), then we wandered around the town and had ice cream. Sunday was yard work, then I went and hit people, then did more yard work, then went to dance class where I got the following compliment:

Thank you! You’re the only guy in the class who acutally leads the circle!

I had no idea what she was talking about, so I must be a natural.

I did go to McDonald’s after all, since the rain stopped, mostly. I walked through drizzly stuff. I’m only computing so the cleaning folks can clean without me being in their way. Later I’m going to go back up, get into the freshly made bed, and take a well-deserved nap.

Morning. Neat OP, gt. Hey, that rhymes!

It’s an I-feel-like-a-dead-slug morning. Must drink tea before can speak coherently. Urgh.

When come back bring pix.

Morning everyone! I’m back. Didya miss me?

Mpls was great. I think the interviews went ok, but like **Telperien **I feel like I may have said something that hurt my chances for the position I liked best. Why does that always happen? And why do we always overanalyze these things? Two of the companies may want me back for another round of interviews. Yuck! I can’t afford to keep flying out for interviews! I need a job!

**KeithT **and I found an apartment that’s just perfect. Two bedroom, two bath, W/D in unit, a pantry, a patio, and a walk-in closet! And it faces the pool and leasing office so no neighbors to look in our windows. I’m very excited about that, and he’s excited that it’s close to a small airport where he can go flying. So we have a place to live, even if I have no job!

Aside from that, we went to the Mpls zoo on Saturday, which was great. They had an exhibit of baby farm animals… AWWWWWWW! Just too cute!

We spent Saturday night with his family, and they have a little Sheltie puppy, which is also soooo cute.

I flew back yesterday, and everything just looks so spring-like. I’m so glad it’s spring!

Yay to the apartment, taxi! Job news mixed, as mine is–sigh. Nothing we can do, I guess, but wait. One good thing–my friend in town, though he is a Doper, isn’t an MMPer, so he won’t see me in here freaking out. I’ve managed pretty well not letting him see me freaking out in person.

We’re supposed to go to the zoo eventually too. I must see the tiger. I have a soft spot in my heart for cat-type critters.

I feel like a dork. I’ve been carrying around two cell phones. One’s my old one that I’m supposed to send back to Mom, but I’m keeping it for a little while since the company has it as a number for me.

Good Morning, All!

Taxi - which airport? Glad you liked your trip - we got the best weather we could for this time of year for you. Hope all goes well in the job search.

Never did like Peeps, I’m afraid - but I did always help my sister stash hers under the bed to “mellow” for a few months.

Started my new/old job this week - it is good to be back digging in the dirt. Beyond that, yard work! oh, yes, yard work! Created a new veggie garden by moving the compost heap, removing an old (previous owners) fire pit, and used the stones found there and elsewhere to build a rock retaining wall around said garden. Also got the pond cleaned and the pump installed. And all the native grasses/prairie gardens cut back.

Now, today I had great plans (not working on Mondays) but FetchSpouse has the flu, so I may be nursemaid more than yard worker. Sigh.

The Hepatica is blooming - Happy Spring!

The weather was gorgeous. I was so glad I was off work and outside for it! And boy, was that a nice introduction to the Twin Cities! If the weather’s like that, I’ll be happy to live there. :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s the Flying Cloud airport. We stopped by and he got info on prices and the kinds of planes they have and all that.

I have been asked back by one of the companies I talked to on Thursday. Yay! Except that it means I have to go back out there… for a third round interview! Ugh. I was hoping they’d make a decision after 2 interviews so I wouldn’t have to make another trip out. Oh well. At least I’m one of two candidates in this round so my chances are pretty good. And I may try to line up some other interviews again while I’m out there so that the trip will be worthwhile.

Hello, Cool Kids.

It’s been a while since my last MMP post bad me. I, however, believe I have tithed. I bought off Spats with pie in another thread, so I believe I am absolved, although I fear I’m going to hear the you-should-bring-enough-for-everyone-else chatter soon.

Easter treat everyone nicely? I drove back to school on Easter, a day early to see if I couldn’t meet up with a friend I haven’t seen in a few years. Outside of that, I got most of my homework done and life is good. I’m deciding what to eat now, seeing as how I have to save the rest of this pie for people who persuade me.

I’ve gotta mail the tickets for the graduation ceremony home to mom. Silly woman wants to control everything. I sware, if I ever get married, se’s the LAST to find out about it. At least I put my foot down on the entire graduation photo thing. I HATE getting pictures taken of me.

Trevor hungry. Trevor go eat.

Good luck taxi and Tel. I’m keeping my fingers crossed. Amazing how I can still type ain’t it?

Smitty Cheerio old chap! Have a great trip. I’m glad you’re gonna get to do some playing as well as working in England. Cool story about the Easter egg hunt too.

I learned something new today. I learned that if one does one’s FedEx shipping ticket on line, FedEx will knock ten percent off the shipping price. Hey, it was big news here. I FedExed that humongous application I’ve been working on this morning. It’s gone. YAY! Course now, that means I’ll get to answer a bazillion questions and such when they get it. Oh, well, it’s what I get paid for. Partly what I get paid for anyway.

Ham is good. So is bacon. I have eaten a lot of ham and bacon the past two days. Tonight I’m eating steak for the first time since February 28th. Lenten fasting is a good thing. Making up for lost time after a Lenten fast is even gooder.

Mehem. By the way, miss gardentraveler , obviously Michigan would win in a peep showdown, much like they do in football and they shoulda won last year if Lloyd Carr wasn’t such a conservative, shitty coach ramblerambleramblerambleramble.

Your liver is blooming?
And Peeps are not nasty! Squishy marshmallow on the inside, crunchy sugar on the outside, and they’re fun! You can’t beat that.

I was watching a talk show recently and a guest said he wanted to give a shout-out to all his peeps, then he held up a package of Peeps. Teehee.
My crazy kitty just did a backflip off my monitor onto the keyboard and into my lap. He likes to sleep on the monitor but it seems to make him slow and oozy so when he tries to get down he just kind of flops/oozes off of it. This was his first backflip though … and I hope his last, it looked painful for anything with a spine.

Thanks, swampy!

Did I tel y’all about my other problem? I keep misreading signs and such. The other day a city bus was passing and I looked at it as it went by. It was decorated with ads for Kroger, and said, “Let’s go Krogering!”

I didn’t realize there was a “K” there for a while, though.

I did not send out invitations (read announcements) when I graduated from college. The only people I cared about being there were the 'rents and they showed up, so I was good. I didn’t even bother about the ceremony for grad school, much less invitations. When I filled out the little form for the diploma I check the “please mail diploma” box. When I got it, I took it over to show the folks. Mom wanted to get it framed for me, so I let her. We tend to not get overly excited about this stuff in my family. It was nice of mom to get my diploma framed for me though. I mean, I was gonna do it, probably, eventually. Really. It just got done sooner rather than later. Ok, so who knows, it might have still been all rolled up in that little tube if she hadn’t. Don’t judge me!

I thought maybe Fetch was telling us this grows in her yard.

You sound a lot more like me, Senor swampy. I’m all for celebrating big accomplishments, but as far as I’m concerned, getting this college thing done wasn’t as big as other accomplishments I can think of. Getting the new first job after college, getting a big promotion, stuff like that can be celebrated. I dunno, I’m abnormally low maintenance.

I think part of my insistence on low-maintenance as far as this goes is because my folks are pretty poor. It’s not a big deal, and I really don’t want to go to the ceremony. I’d just like to get life finally started. I tell the mom that if it’s for me, I don’t want it. But if it’s for her, she’s going to do whatever she wants.

She ignores me. Again.

Blah. I just want it to be done with so I can go on and finish the next bunch of challenges.

By the way, the Monday Morning Post was getting veeeeeeeeeeeeeery close to being the Monday Afternoon Post. I had the stopwatch on it.

My degree-paper-thingy is in my closet at home. I checked to see where it was while I was packing.

You mean it’s not in your study with the bearskin rug, your bubble pipe, and your smoking jacket?
