I just checked ads (I usually have Adblock on and don’t see them) and have IT and spam ones.
I guess spam was mentioned earlier (Hi Bobbio!)
I’d really like to get around to painting the interior again. But what I really want to paint is the kitchen and I don’t feel like I can paint that until I replace my lovely Harvest Gold [sup]TM[/sup] appliances. Also, I need to remove carpet and refinish/replace floors. Not happening this year, cuz I plain ol’ don’t have time.
Rue was here! Yay! And stuff is still popping (or, in this case, squirting) out of animals, so you know it was really Rue and not an impostor.
Glad you made it through the training, Rebo. It sounds cool (in theory, at any rate )!
I’ve been craving something salty all afternoon, so I’m having popcorn for dinner. To be followed by a grapefruit. Perhaps I should consider rice pudding for dessert?
It’s cleaning and doing laundry night because it’s cold and kind of rainy and the mess is driving me nuts.
goob mawding
another sleepless night - but this one I blame on swampy’s thunderstorms. They started about 4 am, and most of them passed right over my house. Some of the boomers were so huge, several car alarms went off, mine incuded. Plus whenever there’s a storm, Smokey, in order to feel safe, must be petted and scritched until the worst is over. Then she runs to the window to watch the leaves dance in the rain. Anyway, it was after 5am when I finally got back to sleep and the alarm went off at 6; I “snooze bar”'ed until 7:30 and now I’m just debating whether to call in and crawl back into bed, or to let them know I’ll be late. I can barely keep my eyes open
Nice picture Rosie! And the thunderstorms were not my fault. All my thunderstorms went southeast, so if anything, they went to see Puggy. Your storms came from the midwest, so blame whoever lives in the midwest. It’s all their fault.
I braved  The Maul  yesterday. And WallyWorld. I bought gift cards for my mom, my sister (who would not let me do anything for her 50th birthday, so I’m giving her a “Mother’s Day” gift) and my youngest niece who will be 15 on Sunday. Mom is getting a giftcard from Dillard’s, sis is getting a gift card from WallyWorld (what! she likes WallyWorld!) and da niece is getting a gift card from Old Navy. Plus I bought dainty dinner rolls at WallyWorld cause sis told me that’s what I needed to bring. I just love the fact that it says dainty dinner rolls right there on the packages! Oh and I got mom’s orchid. It’s home all safe and refrigerated. It has a purty yellow ribbon cause she said yellow would match the dress she’s wearing to church Sunday. Note the LARGE and not so subtle hint about going to church with mom on Sunday.
Rue just be glad the vet didn’t want a stool sample.
OH, YEAH! Did they ever!! Major lightshow and boom booms.
It’s FRIDAY gang!! Do we have a taker for MMP on Monday?
I’m gonna do my Mother’s Day shoping chez Target tomorrow. Are underpants a bad Mother’s Day gift? I’ve been doing the grumpuses laundry and Gran could really use some new ones. <snerk> TMI for the week. <snerk>
I think BarbeeDoll[sup]TM[/sup] and I are gonna go to the beach on Sunday. It should be perfect beach weather. Hopefully we’ll be able to run the fire gauntlet.
I gotta go punch holes in a foot high stack of newspaper clipping copies for Cancun. My life is a thrill.
I thought I was prepared. I thought I was rolling with the chaos.
I am Felix Unger in a world of Oscar Madisons. My entire first floor looks like a furniture warehouse now. They are working in 3 rooms (they’ll do the kitchen next week).
There is plastic wrap on everything-soon there will be plaster dust. (great for my catarrh).
BUT.
I am meeting our own esteemed Mr Bus Guy for some sugar frosted butter and caffeine at 10:00. So, the world is bright this morning.
I, too, have my own HSLoML–but I met him in 6th grade. And kept an unrequited crush on him (he went to a different school) until HS. I still crush on him–we didn’t meet often after HS graduation (and we never dated in HS–never even kissed), but we did see each other maybe twice a year at odd events (he lived in the next town over). He died about 7 years ago. I went to his wake. I still think of Mike often.
I think young love stays with us (some of us) because it is felt so deeply and powerfully.
I have alot to do and want to do none of it. Why o why when my house is now unbearable does the weather change and I can’t work outside? god’s sense of humor is kinda nasty.
I told my manager at work about school–she said we would have to work something out for the boot camp. So, we’ll see.
Oh, and good morning to all and I hope your day is going well.
You guys got thunderstorms?? All I got was rain. I can’t remember the last time I saw an honest-to-Og boomboom thunderstorm. Well, I’m sure heading down to Florida this summer will fix that.
And today is the last Alcoholic Beverage, and the last pun for a week. I figured I should leave off with a bang, so I kicked it up a notch …
Today is my very last piece of academic work as an undergraduate: my Abstract Algebra final, at 3 pm. After that I’m going out to dinner with my friend and his mother and sisters and his girlfriend. It sounds weird, I know, but I figure I have to show up to stop him from being drowned in estrogen.
rigs - good luck dealing with the mess! I remember when my parents had the kitchen at home redone. Dust and crap everywhere, and they literally gutted the room to make room for the new stuff. They ate out of a crock pot and a microwave for weeks.
I am a displaced person in my own home. Thank god for the computer room–that’s not plaster!
And then, there is all the painting I have to do–AND the birthday party and assorted graduation events and work and yardwork and goddamn if my family doesn’t get hungry!
I am buried.
It will all be worth it–but I feel like someone who’s been tootling around the foothills for a time and then looks up and sees K2 looming.
Agh!
anyrose --lovely pic. It’s a very large group.
Drae - I will join you soon in the latex world. I am going with a linen white for the kitchen walls, and something like cappucino for the family room. The dining room gets repapered–but what to do about the front hall?
It’s been papered for years–and I love the paper. It’s very quiet. Simple stripes of cream and apricot(not very wide). It’s kinda sedate, but warm and cheerful.
I will never find that paper again–I papered it 15 years ago. So, what to do. Sanity says paint it and be done. So here are the choices:
The front hall leads into the living room and you can see the dining room as well. The DR and LR open onto one another. Colors in the LR(in order of prominence) are salmon, sage, cream and tiny touches of blue-gray. Colors in DR are sage, cream, salmon.
Obviously, I should go with some muted something–salmon? Peach? I like the gray green of sage, but am afraid to have too much of it. Blue seems so…blue. Gray?
Help!
(and thank you for hanging in there with this stuff–sorry if I’m boring you).
 Gotta go meet MBG in 40 minutes and have no make up on or appropriate attire. I’ll post back after our rendezvous…
I was highly confused and not a little disturbed until I realized you meant latex paint. lol In a little while, I’m going to call down to the Depot D’Home and tell them to mix me up some paint to pick up on the way home from work. Roomie and I did a little taping up of things last night, and decided that the ceiling (where it slants over the tv) is way too much work, and we’ll leave it white. Same with the ceiling over the kitchen. Those ceilings, of course, meet at the top of Roomie’s loft, so I’ll let her paint them when she decides what color her room will be. (Those pics, of course, are from immediately after moving in–I promise the place looks a little more lived in now. )
We had some awesome storms yesterday too – and with the added bonus of a BEAUTIFUL, full-arc, intensely colored rainbow! I haven’t seen one that good in several years. It was just flat-out gorgeous. The ends glowed. No wonder our ancestors came up with the pot of gold story. I almost believed there was one! Lil Baby Cherry seemed impressed with the rainbow, too! He’s a darling baby (and he’s 20 months old today!) who takes pleasure and happiness in simple things like rainbows.
Morning. Urgh. Didn’t get to sleep until after four, then hauled myself up ot of bed, and so far I’'ve swept and vacuumed. I’m going to wait to mop until Mr. Lissar is home. After mopping I’ll have a nice bath, then trot off and do some laundry.
Everything’s all blurry. I am about to eat a healthy breakfast of tea and gingersnaps (thanks, welby!).
Someone wanted me to do this week’s MMP, but I can’t remember what they wanted me to write it about. Or something. Anyone remember?
So, it turns out one cannot call Home Depot and order paint to be picked up later unless one is a contractor who intends to order 50 gallons or more. But now I know what I’m doing at lunchtime, I suppose! We also need rolly spongy thingies, an extendable stick for the frame that holds aforementioned rolly spongy thingies, some edging spongy thingies, and plastic paint trays (which are not thingies, I know they’re trays). I got all the tape yesterday.
Then we have to have the intense discussion about what we’re going to do while we paint. Are we going to listen to the radio, or are we going to turn on the tv and just listen to whatever we put in? And if we do that, what are we going to listen to? Decisions, decisions. We’re hoping to get the first coat in the living room done tonight (we don’t need to prime, as it’s already painted a light gray), so we can get the second coat done tomorrow before Roomie goes to her tattoo appointment and puts her right arm out of commission for the rest of the weekend. I’ll be picking up the paint for the kitchen, but I don’t know when we’ll actually paint it.
