MMP - Springtime is for Lovers

So - I’m going downstate to the Future In-Laws this weekend. And my bribe for going is getting to go to the fabric store! This fabric store is uber. Not uber-anything but uber-everything. Lots of cheap silks and chiffons and expensive fabrics, cut way, way, down, with lots of selection and style and variety - oh, my! I want, I want, I want. Firstly, I’m going to make a brand new curtain for my bedroom and then maybe a sari and I’m getting soooooooooooooooo excited I can’t bear it.

Sooooo, I beat rigs back here eh?

She was appropriately dressed and all nicely done up. You could hardly see the plaster dust in her hair.

Truth is, rigs, you need to update that nursing school picture you keep showing people, and D’OH!!! why didn’t I remember I had the camera in my car, I could have done you the favor.

I was sitting there watching people come in to Caribou, saying to myself “nope, not her, nope not her…” when she came in carrying a Cecil book, so there was no mistake.

A very nice hour spent, and I hated leaving, not just because it meant coming back to work, but because she’s a blast to talk to.

AND…rigs and I have decided, and forthwith decree that an MMP Dopefest shall be had. Location will no doubt be an issue, but since it was OUR (ok, her) idea, and Chicago is after all the Home of the Dope, it should be here.

We’ll leave to others the planning, organization and execution. We get to do that, because it was OUR (I know, really here) idea in the first place.

Now, back to work.

Oh, cool picture rosie! I think your storms were the ones we had the other night. Sorry.

Really? I’m just the opposite

actually, it’s just a large picture - we’re a smallish “mid-sized” chorus. The larger ones have upwards of 80, some topping out at over 150

  I’m dead center, behind and slightly to the left of the director, who’s the one with the extra silver trim

so I stayed home today. I tried to pull myself together but could barely keep my eyes open, so I called in, went back to sleep til about 11:30, and now, after being awake for only 2 hours, I’m going back to sleep (after I watch the rest of the only Murder, She Wrote I never saw (I’d have remembered Kevin Sorbo in it)

Yep. I went to the tile store and met yet another handsome young man (I already had tea with one at 10:00) named Dan and he spent an HOUR with me, talking backsplash tile. Truly, he deserves a bonus or a BJ or something. (BJ not from me, btw)

I think this might be a compliment. Or else I am completely unrecognizable, even for complete strangers!

I had him pegged from the moment I walked into the place. He was the only one who looked like he was waiting for someone. Also, I had 2 soccer mom types, a black man and wife, and an old coot and MBG to choose from. Easy-peasy.

I am?!? I return the compliment–MBG is really easy to talk to–he didn’t even blench when I dragged out UK trip pics of my kids, no less! He was very brave, and polite and kind. Too bad he’s a Sox fan. :stuck_out_tongue:

Seriously, Buskid and Buswife are very lucky indeed–I’ll meet MBG for coffee any time. True blue nice guy.

YES! and all of you can come and stay at my house–bring your own paintbrushes.
Plasterers are still here–and my walls have huge holes in them, covered with some pink shit. They say it’s a gluing compound of some kind. I said, oh, that’s what smells and they said, no-that’s the water damage in your walls. Sure enough, I smelled the bucket o’ pink and there is no smell…

My house stinks.
:frowning:

I have a bad feeling about this. I hope they were talking about stuff they removed from your walls smelling bad and not something that’s still in there. Does it smell like mold or mildew? If so, you definetely do NOT want to seal that stuff up inside your walls. Very bad things[sup]TM[/sup] will happen if you do.

Sorry if I’m harshing your mellow.

goes to take his last test as an undergrad

Yo, dude, s’ok. Chill. Walls don’t smell–crap they carved out smells. More dramatic the way I told it–better story line, more reader interest. Plaster’s the schizzle, man–no worries.

<wanders off to smoke a doobie and beat a bongo>

I had the same thought as Bumba and let me tell ya, that’s just disturbing!

Seriously, Rigs you might want to check and make sure you don’t have a problem with mold or mildew build up. Yeah, I know, you had a good time with MBG and maybe did or did not do something with a man named Dan and here we are giving you stuff to worry you. Still, better to know and get it fixed than find out lots later and have to completely replace walls and such.

I have been standing in front of the copier almost all day. It gets hot in front of a copier. Those boogers are warm! Why was I standing in front of a copier all day you ask? Because I was making copies, of course. HAH! I slay me! I was getting a serious pile of stuff ready for our management team meeting which is on Monday. It’s internal audit time and I have a self-study guide all prepared. See, this fall we are due for our accreditation resurvey and this is to help us get ready for that. It’s part of what I get paid for. I will get to explain it all on Monday, hear a bunch of bitchin’ and moanin’, and from then until the end of June will get to hear vast quantities of gripin’ and complainin’ and answer a metric buttload or two of questions. Envy me!

Rigs, be honest how long did it take you to decide MBG wasn’t the old coot. Or for that matter one of the soccer moms. You know there are people who make up false identities and lives on the internet.
-swampbear (who’s really a straight truck driver from New Hampshire whose married and has eight kids and a pet tarantula named Sweetie Pie)

Well, I know you drive a truck, but I’m pretty sure that accent isn’t from anywhere near NH!

I took a coupla hours off today just because. I got the stuff that needed to be done by Monday finished before lunch today. So I sent an email to my team underlings (I’m the team leader) telling them what I posted and why, then left. Just because.

FCD is on the road but the big doofus left his computer bag in the rental car in San Fran. Not to worry - his coworkers who had to stay in San Fran to finish some stuff will bring it back to him. However, he happened to leave his car keys in the bag. His car is at Goddard - approx 58 miles from here. He won’t get his keys till Monday. He’ll be getting back to Goddard on the bus in the wee small hours of Sunday. Guess who gets to drive to Goddard in the wee small hours of Sunday to give him a spare key so he can get home? C’mon, guess!!

He’s gonna owe me big time.

Yeah, and Hal Briston doesn’t like sheep.

Whew! I’m finally home! Didja y’all miss me? C’mon… someone had to miss me! I am one tired tater, let me tell you.

The cold I caught from the arctic freeze classroom came on full strength yesterday morning. My eyes and nose were GUSHING, and I kept sneezing non-stop. At any rate, I ran down to the Tarjay in one of the Skyline buildings and got me some good cold drugs.

After class, I came back to my hotel, put the do not disturb sign on my door, and snoozed for a couple of hours. I felt slightly better, so I got myself cleaned up to do the Washington After Dark tour. Of ccourse! the night I chose to do the tour, it POURED AND POURED AND POURED. There was lightening too! I got a few good photos, but the rest are messed up with rain drops and flash reflection. Dammit! Well, the tour was very interesting and if I ever get to go back to DC, I’m going to do the daytime tour.

I just wanted to say again how much I enjoyed meeting welby, FCM, and welbywife. I had a very nice time visiting with them. It was incredibly nice of FCM to drive all that way in from where she lives, pick me up and take me back to my hotel.

I’ll be posting the photos soon, I have to transfer the photos to my other computer because this one is giving me fits when I try to upload them to the photo sharing site.

Has welby posted pics yet?

I kinda skimmed through the whole MMP, and I’m sure I missed stuff, so I’ll try to catch up later and address the proper things then. I’m just too tired right now, is all. I didn’t sleep for shit last night. I got back from the tour at 11:30 pm and set my alarm for 3:30 am. I wanted to check out of my hotel at 5:00 am so I could return my rental car and catch my flight. At any rate, I could NOT get to sleep, so I’m operating on no sleep at all. Also, it occurred to me last night that I didn’t eat a damn thing yesterday. Oh, they delivered a Mickey D’s meal on the tour bus, but we weren’t supposed to eat on the bus, and it was too nasty to eat outside. By the time I got back to the hotel the meal was cold and looked totally unappetizing. I ate some sort of breakfast on the plane, today, though. It was dry, but I choked it down.

I think I’m going to lie down and take a nap. My head hurts now. I’m probably just too tired, and this cold is still kicking the life out of me.

Rained a lot down here last night. That’s good for me, because I didn’t get wet, and now I don’t have to water my new grass patches (rigsnot that kind of grass!)

Have a good weekend, y’all.

Well bless your heart, swampy

Sea - who ha been waiting all week to say that

I got soaked last night, and that’s WITH an umbrella. I was one soaking wet, bedraggled looking specimen, let me tell you. And, wouldn’t you know it? The sun was shining and the sky was blue today when I left DC for the “good” Washington.

I was just getting ready to transfer the pictures over to this computer, when the hubby walked in. So, as soon as he’s off of the other computer I’ll tranfer the pictures and upload them.

Glad you got home safe, Taters, but sorry your tour was soggy. We got some rain down our way, but DC really got whalloped from the look of the weather radar last night. You need another TDY!

No welby pics yet. But since he isn’t hip enough to have a digital cam, that’s to be expected! :stuck_out_tongue:

I went back for another session with Dan the Tile Man. He was as good the second time around. I have solved my backsplash dilemma! I am very pleased.

Plasterers were gone when I came home the second time. They will be back on Monday, at 0700. I think I am working, so that gets added to the mix…
One day at a time, right? Tomorrow I lose my sink and all the countertops.
Pray for me.

Ooops! I just assumed it was digital! That’s what happens when I ASS-ume.

Yes, DC was definitely walloped. The weather there looked like our winter weather. Torrential downpours with wind and lightning. The streets were just running with water. My umbrella flipped up several times during the tour. I should have just ditched the damn thing.

I saw some tornado warnings on the news yesteray for…hmmm, now I forget which area in Virginia they were referring to.

When Mr. Taters walked in the door, he poured me a drink. I’m sitting here drinking vodka with OJ. I’m hoping it’ll help me sleep. I tried sleeping on the plane, but I couldn’t do it. I feel bad, but I think we’re going to have to do TV dinners tonight. I just don’t have the energy to do anything else.

My flight went well for the most part. There was some turbulence a few times, but no big deal. The flight actually arrived early, so that was a bit of a bonus.

I need to unpack, but that can wait until later.

LUSH!!!

Dearest Og in wherever:

Help rigs in her time of need. She needs to find someone to appropriately thank Dan the Tile Man for her, juggle work and the plasterers and learn to cope without a sink while not having anywhere to plop down at home except in front of the computer.

While you’re there, work on making sure she never spills her tea cooling it off

Oh, and for me, that mega lottery will do fine…

MBG

Well … is he hot?

I can’t say, but she did say he was as good the second time around, and I’ve been told that’s a pretty good thing to be…
