I’ve been baking tonight. I made some Kahlua Oatmeal Chocolate Chip cookies and some Coconut Madeleines. They are both so good. I had to eat some from each batch out of the oven to make sure they all came out the same, for quality control of course.
I have a few more things I want to bake but I really only have tomorrow night to do it so I may not get them all done. I definitely need to make the Eggnog bread though, otherwise I will have to drink a lot of eggnog.
YAY! Glad y’all made it safe and sound FCM! I talked to ACBG last night and told him about my purty little pot. He’s jealous and he hasn’t even seen it yet. I may have to be on the lookout for sticky fingers.
Wile E the Kahlua Oatmeal Chocolate Chip cookies sound yummerific! Delores the gumbo sounds yummerific good. Wouldn’t a bowl (or three) of Delores’ gumbo followed by a Kahlua Oatmeal Chocolate Chip cookie (or 10) made by Wile E be a nummy supper!
Okay picu, that kitten is so cute I might just pass out.
taxi, I have to work all next week, of course, but I can try to see if I can make an evening in the city–I’ll e-mail you if it looks like it’s feasible. (All the NYC dopefests inevitably fall on a day when I can’t make it for one reason or another, this is getting annoying. )
Today is going to be torturous. I can’t stand it already. Technically, work is done at 2 and party begins. I intend to cut out on the party by 3:30 so I can go pick up one last present, get to the grocery store, the liquor store, the bank and home, then make dinner, get the house presentable, shower and change, and wait for everybody to show up.
How could Hubby NOT fall in love with an adorable little cuddly wuddly cutie pie like that??
Spatial, let me discuss the whole Doper-meeting-in-NYC thing with **KeithT **and our NYC tour guide. I’ve gotten in trouble in the past for inviting people to join a gathering without asking the original invitees and I don’t want a repeat of that scene! I’ll email you and **Draelin **once I figure out what’s what and how everyone feels about expanding our tour group.
I discovered rum balls last night. Oh boy are they good! I’m thinking of making some tomorrow just 'cause.
You replied while I was typing! (And I didn’t preview! Oops.)
We’re only going to be in the city Wednesday evening (catching the 6:00 bus out of the city on Thurs.) and we’ve got show tickets for Wed. night. So unfortunately, an evening gathering won’t work. Sorry!
We’ll have to work on the plan for a Sterling Renaissance Festival DopeFest next summer.
Hell, yes. Mika and I will be there come hell or high water. I’m sorry I won’t get a chance to come meet you this time around, but we’ll get there eventually.
(And what show are you seeing?)
And in other news, it turns out we did get holiday bonuses! Woohooo! It’s not much, but it will nicely cover the costs for the party at my house tonight. I might even buy everybody some champagne for my last night in my twenties.
PHEW!! I have been very busy shopping the last two days…but now I am done! Well, I still need to get a haircut if my stylist is in today (no freebies there, I’m afraid) and The Princess[sup]TM[/sup] wants to take the pups to Petsmart and I still have to hit the grocery for regular stuffs.
Where the hell is that dog popper??? Hain’t seen him all week.
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY TO EVERYBODY I MISSED!!!
Tomorrow is cleaning house and baking day. I found a recipe for a red velvet cake with raspberry liquor and Miracle Whip in it. So, what the heck, thought I’d go ahead and make it. I got it from the Duncan Hines Web site and have had good luck there before so feel pretty good about how it will come out.
If I don’t get back here before Christmas, everybody have a great day and get lots of presents and eat too much and have a wunnerful time and all that.
We are off to downtown today to visit Marshall Field’s one last time before the evil Macy’s takes it over and removes all trace of a landmark institution and tradition here in Chicago.
Well, not quite. Macy’s can’t remove the logo or the clock on the flagship store (State St.) because it is a national landmark building. Ha!
I would willingly shop in Macy’s–in NY. Not here. So, here’s another former customer, whoever runs Macy’s now! Carson’s, here I come…
I was quite busy yesterday–made two batches of cookies, braved the grocery store (question: WHERE do all these people come from? When do they shop outside the holiday season? The stores are never this crowded!), and made the crab fondue early and refridgerated it. All that’s left is …nothing! Yep, I am done!
<sits back, puts feet on desk, hands behind head> This is the life!
The one customer I was waiting on to come get stuff has come and gone. YAY! That means I can get outta here soon! I intend to. I’ll be popping in some and for sure tomorrow cause I have to sing for Drae after all, don’t I?
GAAAAH! I know double-posting is akin to internet-masturbation, but this is the e-mail I just received …
(Yes, everything is always all caps.)
So that means that a month or so ago when I specifically told my boss (level beneath e-mailer) that I needed to be out by 3:30 and she answered that it would be no problem whatsoever … GAAAH!
Good morning! I had a good night’s sleep and started my day at WalMart picking up a couple of things for my kid. We solved the problem of seating 10 for Christmas dinner, and mostly we’re hanging out doing nothing. I went outside without a jacket and was quite comfy, even tho I had to scrape frost off my car when I first went out.
I don’t know what to do with myself with nothing to do… Maybe I’m not made for a life of leisure.
Help! I need last minute side-dish ideas for my lasagna dinner tomorrow night. Someone’s bringing salad and another person’s bringing bread, but not Italian bread so it might be a little weird with dinner but oh well. I have a medium sized (smaller than 13x9) pan of lasagna for 4 people, which should be plenty but I’d really like to have another side dish - veggies or whatever - to flesh out the meal just in case. Don’t want anyone to go hungry! Any suggestions??
Good morning everybody. I was so tired I slept in today, which was not my plan.
Last night I took the kids to the mall for four hours so they could buy Christmas presents for each other and us. I also needed to buy wrapping paper, and three more presents. The results of our shopping trip: Presents purchased for the hubby and I, the daughter, and one of my sisters. So that means that I still need to buy wrapping paper and two more presents. Plus, I need to stop and pick up the son’s present from the daughter. I almost had my step-mother’s present, but the stupid bee-yotches at the counter were doing their level best to ignore me. All I wanted was to get some Elizabeth Arden bath gel and lotion, but NOOOOO, everyone who came AFTER me was more important than me. I didn’t feel like being snotty; well that’s not true, I wanted to rip someone’s throat out), so I just left. This after signaling I was next THREE FREAKIN’ TIMES!
So, I have that to do, plus I need to pick up my roast, the rest of my groceries for the meal, and clean the house. It’s going to be a nightmare. The good news is that at least I’m off work today. I also need to buy cloth napkins. I don’t have cloth napkins that match my Christmas tablecloth (not even white napkins). But, who wants to pay five to 10 dollars per napkin?! I’m not spending $60.00 to $130.00 on napkins, I’m just not. I need a minimum of thirteen napkins. You’d think they’d be on sale somewhere! Hopefully, I’ll have better luck today.
FCM, I’m glad you made it safely.
Merry Christmas everybody, just in case I don’t get to pop back in before then.
Joy, joy. I got 4 hours of sleep last night, and if I can’t get a looong nap in before going to work, I’ll have over 24 hours without sleep when I get home at 5AM.
Just a hint of how my mind works. I needed to pick up some gifts I had forgotten (as usual). I didn’t actually write a list, I made up some mental images for a mnemonic. A disturbed cockroach hitch-hiking to the chocolate factory. Can you guess which four items I had to get?
A Disturbed CD, a Papa Roach CD, and DVDs of Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Oooh, I got everything but the cockroach reference!
Our awards ceremony was ooh-boy-fun. Try not to slip in that pool of sarcasm. I won a crappy three-dollar AM/FM radio. Yes, you heard me. An AM/F-farkin’-M radio that I can wear on my arm as I do whatever.
The kicker was that the co-owner of the company said, and I quote, “We moved the awards to noon because some people need to leave early today.”
Um, wow Draelin, your company’s generosity just runneth over, doesn’t it?
My husband’s company gave him a flashlight; yep, that’s right, a flashlight. It’s nice flashlight and all, and real heavy duty, but I mean, c’mon, a flashlight?
Me? I didn’t get anything. I take that back; my boss gave me a very lovely Starbucks gift set, but that was a personal gift from him to me. He gave all of his “direct” staff a gift.
Getting any bonus at all was a surprise, I admit, but I discovered that mine was significantly smaller than my smokin’ buddy’s, and we can’t think of any legitimate reason for that.
Nap before work. Dress almost done. I should dance for a bit before napping, as I haven’t had any exercise since last week some time and I’ve been eating chocolate and cookies by the pound.
Tomorrow we’re going to Mr. Lissar’s godparents and eating too much and getting smashed. Fun.
Last night was my “Arkadelphia-friends-christmas” night, and this morning was “me and my boyfriend christmas”. It was soooo exciting! We set an alarm for 10 AM so we could run to McDonald’s and get a steak bagel. Greasy and delicious. MMmm.
(My boyfriend got me a wonderful messenger bag, some lip balm that’s delicious and minty, and a copy of Brokeback Mountain.)
I don’t want to work tonight. We were swamped (but not our swampy (I really wish that it worked as well as the Taters thing…)) last night.
