Whoa, pal. Time out here. This is the wrong forum to learn something. Take it over to GD.
No, Sean, it’ll be most of Virginia and about 40 miles of North Carolina - we’re figuring 4-5 hours, depending upong traffic. Then on Friday, we’ll finish NC and scream thru SC, GA and into FL.
He doesn’t need strippers, thanks ever so…
Very nice OP. Pity about Waterloo- it’s an hour and a half from my house. You could have been the only MMPer to meet me! Excitement! Mr. Lissar is ADD and dyslexic. He isn’t good at memorising anything that doesn’t interest him either.
I’m glad you’re better, *Bumba. Keep improving, okay?
Urgh.
Couldn’t sleep last night until 7:30 this morning. Got up, went into work, stayed for an hour and a half, and told them I couldn’t cope, and that they didn’t want to watch me crashing into walls. Came home and napped.
On the up side this means I can get my grocery shopping and some big batch cooking done tonight. This is good. It leaves tomorrow free for laundry and sewing (until work) and Wednesday completely free for sewing.
I love math! I’m also wearing a wonderful lavender shirt that makes me feel toootally gay, but it’s still fun.
OK-so HERE is a story problem brought to life! If distance=rate x time…how fast is **FCM ** planning on going to get wherever she is going?
Don’t forget to factor in the argument about the strippers–that should take at least an hour!
Modulo math? Never hoid of it. It sounds intriguing–do you have a newletter?
Bumba -what meds are you on and how are they hurting your stomach? Check with your doc–it may be something easy to solve, like taking the pills with meals or on an empty stomach…did you get a lil brochure from the Pharmacy about the meds? There are usually helpful hints on there. When do you start rehab?
Didn’t make cookies OR do my GRE–fell asleep instead. Ball of fire, that’s me.
(you know what stinks about the kids being home from school? I have less computer time!)
If you’re going to make my trip a word problem, you need to factor in stops for the doggie to pee.
As long as the dog doesn’t pee on the stripper…
There will be no stripper. Trust me on that one…
Time for a shoulder update for those who want one.
It’s been steadily healing, but not fast enough for my personal taste. Last week, I managed to lift a 60+ lb box over my head without much pain except for the general background throb that it always had. That was good, if a bit risky.
Anyways, today I thought I’d try to resume swimming, which is one of my standard exercises. I figured I’d do about 1/8th of a mile instead of 1/2, and I’d take it slow.
A sidebar: one of the people in my surgery support group is also one of the staff at my Y, and she filled me in about the pool’s problems last week. First, one of the boilers used to heat the pool went down, and when that got going, a motor that runs one of the circulating pumps gave up the ghost. It took them 3 tries to find a direct replacement for the motor, and the pool wasn’t 100% operational until Saturday. In the meantime, the water temperature dropped to 75F…
I showed up this morning, having heard the tale and grateful that I had to sit out when the water was so cold, to find that the temperature today was 88F. The swim team guys I share the pool with were going nuts, but it was perfect for me and my shoulder.
It was agonizing, but I made 10 lengths, which was over the 1/8 mile I promised myself I would do. I noticed by that time my shoulder was starting to loosen up, and I kept going until I had 1/4 mile. I got out, sore and cradling my arm, and got ready for work.
By this afternoon, my shoulder felt it’s best to date, so it was worth it, and I’ll be back tomorrow for more… I probably can’t count on another 88F day, though.
I like my math like I like my cats … fuzzy.
I’ve had a headache since yesterday so I can’t really read all the posts here due to the mentioning of math. I will have to try and catch up later.
I’m also kind of busy panicking due to the shopping that I have not done.
Hmmm…math…always meant to go back and take more. I think I would have liked calculus. Maybe I’ll still get there. I deal with a fair amount of statistical stuff (nothing very sophisticated, but I generally need to know that numbers make sense) even though I got a C in statistics in college primarily due to the teacher’s complete lack of pedagogical skills. I think he thought we’d just absorb the numbers or something. All I remember is endless talk of permutations and combinations. Couldn’t tell you what either one is for nothin’.
Glad the shoulder’s doing better Bobbio, and Bumba’s feeling better.
Great OP, Rifty. Bet you didn’t know you were on a Quest for an abbreviated nick, huh? I believe you can scratch that Quest off your list. Sounds like you’ve found the key to the really important Quest, though. Get moving on that math, young man!!! I’m sure I’ve missed stuff - but I’m pretty distracted today. Hi everyone…and oh, I know…welcome Grelby (you’re new to the MMP, right?).
I’m down to one full day before I leave. Left work early today so that I could mail a package to Mom, get my mail stopped and get some stamps. All I can say is that I’m glad the post office had Christmas stamps in its machine; I sure wasn’t about to stand in line in that place (package went from a local mail box place that ships via UPS). Also stopped and got the last few things I needed. Only thing I seem to have forgotten are a couple of returns.
I’ve got 2 more loads of laundry and a few more things to clean up, but otherwise the house is pretty much under control. I’m going in early to work and will probably work a long day, but otherwise I’m fairly close to ready to go. I think I leave around 11 on Wednesday… Guess I should know that before I leave, huh?
Need to go and do work Christmas cards…
GT
Yay for Bumba and Bobbio feeling better! Just keep gettin’ better now, y’all hear?
I found out yesterday that our little office wingding which I had decided in my own little world is to be held on Friday is actually tomorrow. It’s a during the day thing, so no biggie, cept now I gotta make cheese straws tonight instead of Thursday night. Still no big deal cause I actually remembered to set butter and cheese out to soften before I left home this morning. That is a big deal cause I actually had to remember to do that on short notice, so I wrote myself a note and taped it on the coffee maker. “Take cheese and butter out of fridge” is a very strange thing to read at 5:00 A.M., especially when it meant do it now before I forget. Of course somebody will be hanging around tonight trying to filch cheese straws. Other people have to worry about the dog trying to sneak food, I have to worry about the boyfriend trying to sneak food. I swear if I don’t watch him he’ll jump up on the kitchen counter. Of course what he doesn’t know yet is I am making a double batch so he can have a batch to take with him to the wilds of West Alabammy from whence he was spawned. I wonder how much of that batch of cheese straws will actually make it to West Alabammy.
Okay, time for sumpin to pop outta a dog, and where the heck is welby?
bumba, Mr. Anachi had the same problem with one or the other of his meds bothering his tummy but he was able to remedy that by taking some in the AM and some in the PM. Check with your cardiologist.
We are having one last holdiday soiree today here at work. In the past, our department head has had alla us over to his condo for a swell feast. Only this year he can’t cause his ceiling fell in a while back due to a poor roofing job and he and his wife are still feeling the aftereffects. So, anyhoo, we decided we would do the honors here at the office with a small catered affair. Just what I need. I am so gonna be working out like a fiend come the new year.
Speaking of, congrats on working out that shoulder, bobbio!
This is my last day of work till next tuesday. YAY! But I’ve got plenty to do on the homefront for the next few days. Guess I better go plan my itinerary.
Tupug
Right. Because it’s a rip-off, and the food isn’t that good. Remember, I’m the one that told her not to stop.
So how long to you think it will take to get to Rocky Mount? I would guess that3 hours max. I-95 is pretty speedy to their (unless you get caught in the spillover from DC at quitting time or hit Richmond at about 5 o’clock.) You leaving later in the day?
I wonder how the flight home for ems was. Hope she’s having fun at home, and has a chance to pop in and tell us all about her trip, much like Mika did with hers.
Animals jumping on the counter to get food. One of our cats does that. So far, loud noises, squirting water, and grabbing him and saying “NO!” right in his face isn’t working. I’m thinking of rigging a mild electric shock to the counter surface, but I’m meeting with a lot of resistance at home on this project.
But I think I talked the youngest stepdaughter-to-be into getting her GED right away.
He’s right here. He was home sick yesterday. He’ll be home sick today to. He’s got the runs, and he feels like he’s crapping lit firecrackers.
He needs to calm the chaos. Sorry you’re under the weather old bean. Don’t forget to hydrate.
Yeah. None of that works on my critter either.
welby, ick! Feel better soon.
Is this a glaring example of good judgement coming at the expense of a lot of bad judgement? :dubious:
Poor Welby!
My Christmas spirit is currently being RUINED by an agressively stupid person I have to work with. That’s what she is: willfully, agressively, obstinately purposely stupid. She sets out to be as irritating, lazy and moronic as possibly and boy does she succeed. It’s turning me into a GRUMP and I don’t like it one bit.
But back to cheerier news–my CherryHusband went out on a Mysterious Mission last night. He wouldn’t say where he was going and, when he returned, where he’d been. There were suspicious packages in the back. The jingling of bells and the stamp of hooves could be heard in the distance. See? It doesn’t take much to get me back in the holiday mood.
Ah, people like that are such fun to work with. I’ve run across more than my fair share of these types.
On the bright side, your hubby managed to cheer you up with holiday goodness!
Bobbio, so glad you’re shoulder is doing better.
welby, I’m sorry to hear of your bout with the Mississippi quickstep. I hope your tummy and bowels start feeling better soon.
I’m am incredibly sleepy. I didn’t get much sleep last night (again). The husband was snoring something awful. I felt like I had just fallen asleep when his alarm went off. I’m drinking my quad shot americano, but it’s just not helping.
I guess I better get back to work.
