I fell asleep too. It’s very rare for me to nap during a show but I managed to miss all but the first ten minutes.
I was looking down from the TV at the time…got on Hulu and watched it again.
She…what?
I didn’t think it was hilarious, either. Good, but I wasn’t dying laughing. Claire and Phil toning down their Halloween decorations made me sad. Everyone being afraid of Claire anyway was good.
He had no idea. Someone almost told him, but was stopped by his son at the last minute.
Who was the kid in the Angel costume? For a second I thought it was Alex until I realized he was a boy.
Thank you Labrador. I’m glad someone agrees with me. Still can’t get any details as to why people think he knew it was a guy.
Lily as Tatoo was really cute.
Has the actor who plays Cam really lost weight?
Manny called him “Reuben”, but I don’t remember him from a previous episode. Can’t find him on imdb either.
And I concur that Jay had no idea about the drag queen. Didn’t they even establish earlier in the episode that Jay needs his reading glasses more often, or was that a different episode?
“I’ve seen all seven Police Academy movies.”
“Sir, nobody has seen all seven.”
Put me in the camp that Jay had no idea.
I agree, I don’t think Jay would have been that flattered if it was a guy. Then again, I didn’t know it was a guy, so I can see how I might have missed any clues that Jay gave that he knew. (I was trying to figure out why Cam tried to stop the conversation, but couldn’t figure it out.)
I liked the utter terror displayed by Claire’s neighbors. Funny!
“It’s a trap!”
Cam was about to tell Jay, but Gloria stopped him and said “he needs this.”
Lily : ARE WE POOR?
Why are there giant lollipops in the yard? And why do they taste so bad?
Mideval Knevil
Cam : Mitchell we need to talk
Lily : Uh-ohhhhh
I have the episode recorded. This is what Jay and the drag queen say when they part:
-
It was great meeting you, Jay.
-
You too, Sam.
Jay doesn’t look a bit disturbed or surprised; when Cam mentions her, Jay says “I still got it”.
Also, Jay’s smart. I’m pretty sure that he would automatically assume that any woman at one of his son and son-in-law’s party’s was probably a man.
I always love it when Claire gets a huge comeuppance . . . but not as much as Phil shirtless.
The gag makes absolutely no sense if he knows.
Sam is often short for Samantha.
Oh, come on. The reason the writers gave the character a name largely associated with men is because they wanted to show that Jay knew it was a man. If they had wanted to show that he though it was a woman, they would have given him a more female name, or not bothered to name him at all.
And the gag works because it’s a twist on a twist. First Jay flirts with a woman, then we find out she’s actually a man, *then *we find out that he both knows and doesn’t care. I thought it was very funny, myself.
No, they gave him that name to reinforce Jay’s cluelessness. When he says “Sam”, it’s even funnier.
Nope. He had no clue. I just watched the scene again, and I have no earthly idea where you’re getting this.
I believe so, at least I noticed him looking a bit slimmer (compared to before) last week. If I’d been around for the thread, I was going to mention it.
