Modern Family, Nov. 16, 2011 -- "After The Fire"

I think they decided they couldn’t top last year’s Halloween episode.

I loved the sleep clown bit. And if I was in Alex’s class, I’d be one of her “fans” too.

Oh jeez, I just now got the meaning of their names (“Roots”=“Family”) :smack:. My only excuse is that I started watching the show with season 2. Don’t worry, I’ll get caught up.

:smack:

Holy cow, you’re right!

I never noticed that. Tell me it’s a coincidence!

The girls flipping on the screaming argument was great.

Alex nerd-vamping was beautiful.

I want a massage!

“You have your fans, I have mine. And in a few years your fans will be working for my fans.”

“Snicker Snackers!”

Jay’s closet was the only thing standing after the fire.

Loved the scene with Jay and Claire where she regresses to a little girl and curls up against him while he’s watching football. Jay doesn’t say a word until “You’re older than her.” “You pick now to say something?”

Also loved: “I have three kids, at least one if which is going to college. Worst case scenario, they all go.”

This.

I’m in college and I thought of that quote all day after hearing it

Haley would do better becoming a stripper.

When Cam was talking about his extensive experience driving heavy machinery, he mentioned something about taking a tractor? to his high school prom, to which Mitchell said something like “That’s not the only thing that got plowed that night.” but I missed it…

Anyone know what was said?

I thought Mitchell said that nothing got plowed. Presumably, Cam went to the prom with a girl, who was left disappointed at the end of the night.

That would make perfect sense!!!

He said “at least something got plowed” and I assumed that Mitchell went with Cam and it was Mitchell who didn’t get plowed

Mitchell didn’t know Cam in high school. Cam grew up on a farm in Illinois.

Missouri.

Nah, she’d be better off as a trophy wife. She should start asking Gloria for some advice.

(and count me in with the :smack: at never noticing “Alex” “Haley” “Alex Haley” thing)

OK, explain this to me like I’m a five year old, because I don’t understand what everyone is talking about. Yes, I know that Alexander Haley wrote “Roots,” but what’s all the connections here people are drawing?

Didn’t Mitchell also go to prom (and have sex with or at least start/try to) the girl that’s married to the other red head (Little Slugger).

As far as I can tell, the connection lies in that Alex and Haley are family members, thus they have ROOTS together? I think it’s a pretty big stretch myself, and that it’s sheer coincidence.

There are no connections. They have a kid named Alex and a kid named Haley. Alex Haley. That has to be intentional on the writers’ part.

As intentional as Cameron Mitchell?
