Modern Family November 28, 2012: When a Tree Falls

Oh my God I’m Sisyphus!

-Yeah, a big one!

Cat caught up a tree was pretty funny.

Here, I made you a shank from this knife…

As was Cam thinking he had sap on the back of his hand.

Alex did a fantastic impression of Claire in that episode.

She did? I didn’t catch it.

Not a specific “Alex is intentionally imitating Claire”, but the entire bit where she was watching Haley pick up guys & jewelry while doing her community service was very reminiscent of scenes where Claire is seething at Phil’s wacky behavior. And Alex (or more specifically the actress) used a lot of Claire’s mannerisms during the scene.

Yes, that was great!

They haven’t found a good story line for Luke since the neighbor died, but his delivery of the one liners just floors me every time. Out of all of the child actors, I predict Luke (Nathan Gould) will be the most successful long-term.

Since the series began, Claire has used a single-word catchphrase of “Really?” on many occasions, always enunciated in exactly the same manner; Alex slipped in a “Really?” of her own last night (in a perfect one-word imitation of her Mom) when a car threw a bag of trash at her while she was sitting in the gutter, trying to get her phone out of a storm drain.

I like all the “Modern Family” kids, but you may be right about Nathan Gould.

I agree; the whole episode was worth it for that scene.

Read somewhere he’s a Mensa member.

When Haley was in the convertible with the long haired guy she told Alex "He’s a … "
I didn’t catch what she said. Anyone remember?

I think she said “Vandalizer”.

Nolan Gould

Especially when the fireman carried him down and gave him to Mitch.

What did Alex say at the beginning explaining her joke about vandalizers that her family didn’t get? I didn’t catch it.

She was just correcting them. The correct term is “vandals.”
