Modern Family, October 12, 2011 -- "Hit and Run"

So, what did you guys think about last night’s episode?

What? No recap?

I thought this was the funniest episode this season. Spin-off Gloria for her own show!

“She faced her fears and it didn’t kill her… what killed her 2 weeks later was a bus”
“Are you serious?”
“Ahe couldn’t see anything coming with that big nose”
“Really, Manny? Do you want me to learn you English?” – Gloria

And the comment about cutting off the horse’s head for Manny’s report on the Mafia.

Here is a copy of Phil’s fake ID:

“Dr. Richard Hertz… think about it”

All the talk about frozen assetts - I’m surprised that Luke wasn’t named Phil Junior!

Merged two separate Modern Family threads.

Nice to see Todd (last week’s Community) getting work on competing networks. Would have been even better if somehow they could have worked in a “No offense” / “None taken”.

[inner 13-year old boy] Between Gloria’s beautiful cleavage and Claire’s permanips, this is one of the breastalicious shows on network TV. [/i13yob]

I’m happy Claire’s storyline will continue, because it means we’ll see more David Cross.

The only part that bugged me was Cam’s completely overdone limp-wristed mincing down the street after the hit & run driver. We’ve seen him open a can of whoop-ass in previous seasons so that seemed out of character.

But I thought they finished the joke well when he went up to Todd’s front porch doing a combination Nathan Lane/Clint Eastwood swagger.

I’m starting to feel a little bad for the middle Dunphy child. Once Lily starts getting more screen time than you do, you may be on a path to far away boarding school next year.

I thought Luke was funnier than usual in this episode.

How he got his money was hilarious, and I loved his random sarcastic quip of “Yeah, the police are busy winning the war on drugs.”

I tend to think of him as “Momma Bear”…don’t get him/her angry!

Mmmmmmm…Gloria…Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Speak broken dirty to me.

Yeah, that was a great line!

It made me laugh out loud. I think perhaps they aren’t afraid of showing Cam running down the street with his wrists just a-flappin’ because we also know that he is capable of throwing a football through a sheet of plywood.

ETA: I loved Claire and Gloria’s conversation in the kitchen - “I’m a little afraid of you sometimes - Thanksgiving is at MY house! (That was a call-back to a previous episode, right?)

“You saw the Muppets movie without me?”
“Only the first two numbers!”

At least he didn’t mention his dumb baby!

So I’m confused. Are Phil’s fists England Dan (and John Ford Coley), or are they Crosby (and Stills, with Nash the knee and Young the foot)?

That was one of the funniest episodes of television (not just MF) I’ve ever watched.

I thought it was absolutely briliant.

“I’ve always been turned on by women with power…Michelle Obama…Oprah…Serena WIllia…wait!”

Oh yeah. I laughed out loud when they realized they were in the wrong movie, too. I was re-playing their previous conversation when Mitch said that.

They’ve done this before. There was an earlier episode with Cam running somewhere and Mitchell reminding him to put his hands down.

The mother’s day episode. He was running for a football or something.

Don’t forget Condi!

Michelle Obama, Oprah, Condoleeza Rice, Serena Williams, waitaminit.

Sofia, oh Sofia, I worship you.

I loved the line about prison being a major adjustment for two of them.
