Mole II: 06/18 - Warm-up and debriefing!

As always, I’m starting the Mole II thread early, this time by an entire day. (I’m stuck at my parents’ in Ottawa and am bored.)

Speculate here! And when the show’s over tomorrow night, please use the spoiler tag for our fellow Molesters (tee hee) in other time zones.

My suspicious still like with Bill, given the clues presented (especially the telegram - I really don’t think Patrick deciphered it, as others have speculated). My other candidates include Dorothy and Myra. (Myra moreso than Dorothy.)

Elavia? Puh-leeze! She’s being edited to be the mysterious one. Remember, Kathryn (last year’s Mole) stated she spent a lot of time on the Mole message boards last year reading all of the hypotheses being put forth. Now that she’s a writer for the show, it would make sense that a) she would ensure that every show had a really good clue, unlike those lame-ass clues from last season, and b) that she’d want a non-Mole player to be edited suspiciously in order to throw viewers off.

Start your sleuthing!

Sorry to hear you’re bored. Let’s see, I would say that Bill seems to be the most like Kathryn from last year, but I don’t think he’s TM for some reason. I keep thinking he’s like Charlie from last year, just playing everything close to stay ahead, rather than because he’s TM.

I’m with you on Myra, out of the females. Not a lot of time for Bribs still (but it’s nagging at me that he’s so young), could he pull off being TM? I would guess one wouldn’t have to be that smart, since the producers feed everything to TM, though I’m not saying Bribs is stupid. I don’t know much about him at all, since they haven’t shown him. Did you notice that he was the only one whom the producers didn’t show talking to family members? Or did I miss that part? I remember watching at the time and thinking, “what about Bribs?”

My main problem, is that they don’t seem to be showing as many players’ suspicions as they did last year. I was able to narrow down TM as female by the 3rd episode. This year, I feel lost. I’m still suspicious of Darwin too (even though he seemed to try really hard in the pool challenge).

Okay, last question, what is up with all the zodiac symbols? Pisces and Virgo, etc. I noticed the players’ astrological signs are listed at the official site in their profiles. I don’t get what the producers are shooting for, by flashing zodiac symbols at us.

I read on another thread that someone deduced a clue watching the zodiac symbols. Hmm.

I hear in this next episode, players have to battle (well metaphorically I guess) their way to pizza. Which sounds good, but I wonder what they eat if they don’t win. I am so hungry right now (can you tell?), and so ready for more Mole.

I think I’m leaning towards Myra more, too. She is very reserved, and I never even starting thinking about her until this episode, because she doesn’t prominently feature herself in games, like Al. Perfect mole strategy, unless she’s just really naturally a very quiet person.

All I know about the zodiac symbols is the Pisces thing, and Bill is the only Pisces.

A lot of people are saying, It can’t be another woman, because TM was a woman last time. Or, it can’t be someone young, because TM was young last time. So they expect an older man. But then again… to screw with us… it could be another young woman… or - like Myra - an older woman.

Myra first caught my attention during the Pulse Rope Walk. There was just something about her. Then again, that was, what, episode one or two? And I didn’t pick Kathryn until the second last “real” episode last time. (But then again, I’m probably more astute this time around.) I thought it was either Kathryn or Steven, and that my boy Jim ::swoon:: would win.

This week, I’ll be keeping my eyes on Myra, Bill, and Dorothy. If I don’t find anything that piques my suspicion, I’ll eliminate one and consider Bribs or Darwin, even though nothing they’ve done has made me suspicious, except Darwin taking off the bunny ears. (But who wouldn’t?)

I’m gonna miss Rob. :frowning:

I really don’t think it’s Al. He’s way too into it. Kathryn never was. And Katie… sorry… she’s just too stupid. If she turns out to be TM, I’m buying everyone here a virtual SDMB beer. I can see Katie and her toy cow Meadow Muffin lasting until the final five or so… just a hunch.

My list of “still too obvious therefore edited that way:” Bribs, Darwin, and Elavia.

The food clues seem to be making the rounds of the Mole message boards. Dorothy eating an apple in the opening credits. Coop eating some kind of baguette or pastry in the first few episodes… Last time around the message board peeps made a big deal of Coop eating all the time.

Coop said he didn’t know who the Mole was until near the end. This time, I think he knew from the outset…

Discuss.

I’m going with Dorothy for the moment.

During the quiz, we always hear a few of the players telling who they think the Mole is. Katie has mentioned Dorothy for the last three episodes or so and Katie is still in the game. If Katie really suspects Dorothy and is answering her quiz questions based on that the fact that she is still in the game is a strong indication that she is right.

There’s a rumor floating around Mole message boards:

Someone leaves the game tonight (not executed, but has to leave). Then again, I heard that about Survivor (not talking about PigSticker who fell in the fire… Michael Skupin, who now thinks he’s Jesus bloody Christ or something because he so miraculously healed). Heard the same thing about Survivor editions 3 and 4 - enough already! - and it was all just rumors. So we’ll see in the case of Mole II.

I agree that Elavia seems obvious, like a Jennifer from last year. Why do you think Bribs and Darwin are? I know Bribs went into the bar instead of meeting up for the train station, but then later on in some interviews, we hear that he and Ali had found the train station and no one was there yet. I felt the producers tried to make it look like they never bothered to check first, and went straight to the bar. Also, in the same episode where a Pisces symbol was shown, they showed Virgo (back to back shots).

As far as Darwin, I would have taken off the ears too. I don’t see anything he’s done that looks obvious. I liked Jim best last year (really wanted him to win), and I’m hoping Darwin takes it this year if he’s not TM.

I know that some of the players mention the person they’re voting for, but it just doesn’t seem as consistent as last year. They keep showing the same people and their guesses. Also, the producers are doing a better job (to me), keeping suspicion equally on the players (except Myra) than last year. Remember how there’d be a big push of suspicion for a certain player during each episode? That was one of the ways I eliminated players from suspicion actually.

I guess I’ll add. I don’t think it’s Katie, too emotional. I don’t think it’s Al, because of the confrontation with Darwin - I think TM would want to stay in the background. I don’t think it’s Dorothy, it seems like the producers have tried too hard to cast susupicion on her. Same with Elavia. I’m also leaning toward it not being Heather, but only because she would basically be the same as having another Kathryn as TM.

Holy crap!

It was Myra! My suspicions for Dorothy and Bill have gone up after this episode. And Bill, dear, what was with the Rob-tribute hair? Come on.

I’m going to have to re-evaluate my Mole suspects…

  • s.e.

Yeah, that was pretty shocking. They’ve never done the first person before. I wonder who the tie was between…Myra and someone else, obviously. Hmm.

Poor Elavia. Being voted least favorite player has gotta be a pretty crushing blow…I’d feel awkward if I were in her place. But I’d definitely have taken the exemption, had I been in that situation. I might have stopped short of a larger sum, maybe 50,000, but the money wouldn’t be worth it if I had a chance of leaving the game. And it’s not as if they were losing money, they were just losing the chance of gaining more.

Nice pillow talk between Al and Darwin. Al and Bill’s tribute to Rob was pretty cute. Hehe.

I think I know who the mole is. I’m still watching it (commerical break) and I think there was a pretty obvious clue when Anderson gave the bike riders their bottles of wine. I’ll come back when the show is over.

I’m sad to say that I don’t think it is Katie anymore.

Did anyone notice that Al said something about “somebody at home is probably watching and saying, you dummy - Bill is the mole!” I thought that may have been a clue.

Also Bribbs name was written on tape on one of the bags instead of being embroidered/stamped on.

OK, on the mole message boards everyone was making a big deal about Dorothy eating an apple in the opening credits (of course I can’t find the threads now). When Anderson handed out the first bottle of wine, he was eating a red apple. When he handed out the second, he was eating a green apple. Coincidence?? I doubt it. Unless it is yet another plot to throw us off the trail.

As much as I hate to say it, I now think Dorothy is the mole.

Most of this stuff is little…I don’t think it’s major spoilers.

OK…I really, really dislike Dorothy and Katie. Katie didn’t do much this round but I’ve disliked her from the start. She’s annoying.

Anderson seemed funnier in at least the first segments of the game; I loved that. He’s funny. And I spotted what could be a clue: Dorothy is eating an apple in the credits and Anderson eats an apple during the first competition.

(I wrote this earlier–Monster, we think alike.)

Another thing I noticed was Al. He seemed preoccuopied with the age of “23”. During the bike competition, he said ‘I’m not 23 anymore’, and he said that another person ‘is 23’ when talking to Anderson during the least-liked player game. I don’t know why; it just stuck out for me because 23 isn’t that common of a number. “20”, or something like that…but not 23.

Preoccupied, of course, not “preoccuopied”.

I think that’s because Bribbs is 23…so maybe he was comparing himself to him? And later on, it is Bribbs he says is the most likable, saying that he reminded him of himself as a 23 year old. Dunno if it’s a clue or not.

Also thought it was obvious that the people who didn’t like to cook would be the ones having to cook- come on, guys!

Crazy! Well, I don’t have a suspect for a female Mole now.

As for Bribs and the taped name on his bag, he taped over his real name (don’t remember what it is) and wrote his nickname “Bribs” on it.

Whoa. That was a shocker!

I am pretty sure Elavia is not TM- she is being edited to look mysterious, and that chip on her shoulder seems to be a natural part of her personality.

I am suspicious of Dorothy. Getting lost looking for the stairs and then not being able to ride a bike to save her silly life. Darwin is a little suspicious, too. I have been thinking it might be Katie, just because I don’t think she could have lasted this long if she wasn’t the mole.

I want Al to get executed so badly. He just bugs the hell out of me. His “most trouble” story seemed way over the top. I don’t think he really jumped from one building to the next. Did you notice that while everyone else was laughing like mad, Anderson (:swoon:) had sort of an odd look on his face?

I don’t suspect Heather for touching the bike- it seemed like a natural reaction- but the penalty was justified. The ice cream penalty, however, was really unfair. I wonder if they would have penalized the group again if Al and Darwin had told each other about the contents of their lists while they were talking about the coalition?

His name is Michael Bribieska, hence Bribs.

Can Katie be more of an annoying, whiny crybaby?

And… ::sigh:: I guess I’m going to have to go with Dorothy now.

  • s.e.

Yeah I thought it was lame that they penalized them for the ice cream… If I remember right Anderson said something like, “If they hadn’t made the pizzas, you wouldn’t have had anything to eat tonight.” Now, not to be pedantic, but that doesn’t exactly say, “You are not allowed to eat anything else, ever.”

So unless they made it more clear somewhere else we didn’t see, I think they shoulda been pissed about that one.

Why don’t they like Elavia? I like her a lot. In fact, I pretty much like all of these people more or less, which is rare for me with a reality show like this.

(Please, please, ABC, let there be a Mole 3!)

I am so blown away by Myra’s execution! I was so sure she was The Mole. Now I don’t have a clue! Not a single clue! Fooey!
Maybe it’s Darwin.
And I don’t believe Al’s story at all. I can’t stand him either. And Katie just gets worse and worse. (How can a Spanish teacher not know ANY Italian??? The languages are not all that different!) Elavia’s got one heck of an attitude and Dorothy is just plain inscrutable. So it’s probably Bill or Bribs! Then again, Heather reminds me a lot of Kathryn of last year. . . .
God! I love this game!
