Hope the mods don’t close this one. It’s very interesting.
My first celebrity crush was…
…Boba Fett. We never saw his face, but he was so effortlessly cool and confident. I just knew that beneath his tough exterior there was a vulnerable man who needed love and would always be faithful to me, his future wife.
The earliest I remember was Alyssa Milano in “Who’s the Boss?” I was 11 when it premiered, and she was maybe a little older. I probably busted my first nut while watching a commercial for “Teen Steam.”
I don’t recall which came first, but either James T Kirk or James West (maybe it was the name…). I watched both of these when they were in syndication (I was born in 1962).
I remember seriously falling for the tenor in The Mikado one summer when I was about 8 and went to see the play 6 times (summer stock). He had a moustache and dark curly hair (Kirk is the only blonde man I’ve ever been attracted to). This unnamed tenor (Tommy Thompson, but fame has eluded him, despite his fan club of one) was the start of many crushes: David Cassidy, Greg Brady, Magnum PI, Hans Solo (Luke was so lame), Buck Rogers in the 70s remake, and yes, the Professor on GI (and Major Nelson from Jeannie).
I pretty much fall easily even today.
My first crush was around age 7 or so… on Mr. Spock. Yes, I was a nerdy geek very early in life. It also freaked mom out - she was afraid of Star Trek in all its forms for her entire life, and here her youngest had a crush on a scary alien dude.
Yeah, Mr. Mantooth was a subsequent crush for me. Mmmm… I’ve always liked men (and Vulcans) with dark hair. Mom was relieved that at least I had the correct species this time, but then was starting to get disturbed that I was developing crushes on men old enough to be my father (somehow, she didn’t noticed Mr. Spock had also been in that age range). Well, proof I’ve always liked older men
Also had a crush on the original Starbuck from the old Battlestar Gallactica (one of the few blonds I’ve gone for, but I didn’t hold his hair color against him).
Then I ran off and got married to a crippled guy who played bagpipes for a living.
You’d think by that time mom would have gotten used to the notion that I didn’t go for the conventional types in mates.(Mr. Mantooth being a bit of an exception).
How funny, I came in here to say the same thing about Willy Wonka…not Gene Wilder so much, but the character. I was obsessed with him as a kid, loved the wild-eyed master of a fantasy land who cut through the kid’s BS.
Before that, at a lesser level, Dr. Dolittle as played by Rex Harrison. Again, a master of his own world, off there with the animals.
Yikes, I’m seeing a pattern here that explains a lot…
I could never decide which New Kid on the Block I liked most. I don’t recall having any particular celebrity crush for a few years, but I had a massive crush on David Usher and Gavin Rossdaleas a teen. I shortly moved on to Trent Reznor, who I still think is unbelieveably hot, and my husband has given me permission to jump him if I ever get the chance!
Oh, she wasn’t my first, but I had it bad for Hayley Mills when I was a kid. Both young Parent Trap Hayley Mills and grown up Miss Bliss Hayley Mills. (Hey, I was born in 1977, she was already grown up by the time I came around. And she was every bit as beautiful at 41 as at 15. I haven’t seen any recent pics, but I’m sure she remains so in her 60s.) I was watching the original Mickey Mouse Club at around the same time, and while I thought Annette was very cute, she never rose to the level of a crush.
Gods, I can’t remember who my first TV/movie crush was…I’ve always been one to develop crushes easily. Perhaps Valerie Bertinelli - she’s the earliest I can remember, for sure, anyway…at least, that wasn’t a cartoon.
