Monday Monkey Post: A Very Monkey MMP

I’ve been up since around six in the morning. The dogs were wrestling and running around the house, so I just got up.

I’m fixing to get a pot roast going in the slow cooker and I’ll probably try to do some chores today. Other than that, I’ve got nothing going on.

Well, I do on occasion smoke a bear butt but that’s not what I’m doin’ now.

Just had a discussion on whether or not 18 <snerk> butts <snerk> will fit in the convection oven. I say we can. I was told we can’t. I has been challenged! Come twelve thirty p.m. I shall take up that challenge.

smokin butts!!!

I had a minor sneaky suspicion that I was all set to ignore until completely out of the blue, the Wife voiced the same one.

The Kid came up last week for a friend’s wedding. And is coming up again this weekend for a brief visit. Little Rock is a 700 something mile trip, kind of a long way to come for a day or two, especially on consecutive weekends.

My friend always throws an Oktoberfest at his house in the fall for The Usual Suspects, a group of about 5 couples.

This year, he’s doing a Labor Day thing, because I hijacked Oktoberfest for a year to inaugurate the new big-ass patio we have.

Tuesday is our 25th Anniversary.

Get it? Sneaky surprise party of some sort? Normally when the Kid comes up, plans are set in stone for her to spend time with us, or with her friends or both. Plans for tonight are as yet, still not in place. We’re all either meeting at a local dive, hanging out here or someone else’s house.

Get it? No firm plans except we’re told that yeah, bunch of people are hanging tonight, we should be included.

I smell a rat.

It would not surprise me if there was a surprise, MBG. Probably not a rat, though.

Wow, STG. There are some interesting people in the world. The Google translate person was my favorite. I can imagine the translation of a form would be extra interesting.

Glad the all-hands meeting was uneventful, Missy.

Hope things are smokin’ hot, swampy.

We’ve been to the Donut Kitchen for breakfast, where we had yummy apple fritters. We also stopped at a garage sale. Yesterday, we went to German Village where we wandered through the Book Loft, which is a VERY cool place and walked around and happened past this castle.

Soon, we’ll be off to Bacon Camp. Yay!

ETA: Almost forgot: nice song, rosie!

Hugs.

GT

That ain’t a rat you smell MBG it’s <snerk> butt! <snerk>

Oh and

**
HAPPY BUSIVERSARY!!!
**

Oh, btw, one can get eighteen <snerk> butts <snerk> in a biiiiiig convection oven. HAH! Told ya so!

Huh. Swampy’s been saying ‘butts’…

Uh … you’re welcome?

Up but I slept late. I slept for 10 hours even after I took a 2 hour nap yesterday. So I feel pretty good. My alarm clock was LibbyCat gently touching my cheek with her paw. She was hungry. See mr ems woke up in a flap at 5.30 as he had a Tee time of 6AM and had switched off his alarm. So he hadn’t fed her like he normally does before he leaves so she was just a-wasting away. He didn’t come back so I assume he made it

Steak night was abandoned last night - I took a nap and hubby had gone dove hunting so pizza was ordered. Today we are going over to a friends house for deep fried turkey and some college football game and tomorrow we have people over for ribs and the secret family recipe green beens and corn. I think I might some nectarines and pineapple and grill them for desert with 'nilla ice cream. Yum!

I am glad 18 <snerk> butts <snerk> fitted swampy!

Happy Sattidy!

Happy Anniversary to the Busses!

I’ve got a pot roast going in the slow cooker and brownies in the oven. I’m all domestic and shit today.

Other than that, I haven’t done anything. I should get some laundry going, though. I may also be able to talk the hubby into getting that damn fish tank cleaned.

Happy Busiversary!!!

Two new fish and 2 sea urchins have been procured and they’ll be introduced into the tank soon. I made some peach compote for pancakes tomorrow - daughter’s breakfast request. I also sliced up the rest of the peaches for a pie or two on Monday. It’s peach season here…

I’ve decided I’ll cut up the melons at Mom’s tomorrow - it’ll be easier to carry them whole. The cupcakes are frosted and decorated with sprinkles and ready for transport. Cosmo is going with us, but the ancient dogs are staying home.

Supper tonight is whatever. I’m done cooking.

Sewing people, beware. I have a new project going. VWife bought a Singer Model 66 Redeye treadle machine yesterday, and it is in rough shape. My job is to rehab it for her.

So far, I have the cabinet completely disassembled, pending sanding and new finish. It needs a new well for the head to drop down into, because the plywood is shredded, and it is held together with Hot Wheels track.

Some new drawer rails need to be made, and the machine itself is gummy. It also needs a belt and this little funky rubber wheel that I have no nomenclature for.

My guess is we’ll put $200 into it to get it running; the goal is more nice looking functionality than outright antique restoration. If it works out, it will be bucks well spent.

<<somewhere, in the corner of the room, a ficus rustles>>

Happy Busiversary!

I am a dumb ass. I was attempting to open one of those cardboard 12 packs of soda when I bent my nail back. I pushed it back into place and didn’t think anything of it until I noticed the dripping blood. I ripped it past the quick about 1/4 of the way down the nail. That’s what I get for using my nails for tools. So much for knitting this weekend.

Bobbbio, a friend of mine had one of those and loved it.

<<waves at the rustling ficus>>

Recoils in horror at what appears to be a zombie ficus! Sprays it with emergency supply of DDT and then nukes from outer space to be sure.

Dang ficus! That oughta take care of it once and for all.

Howdy Y’all! I’s home from <snerk> butt <snerk> smokin’. I have had dindin (burgers, yum!), a relaxatin’ jacuzzi bath and have chicken boobs and laigs ready to go on the smoker in the mornin’ for tomorrow’s lunch. I decided to let ‘em cook tomorrow durin’ deheathenization as I don’t worry so much about the smoker smokin’ away without me here as I can program it to turn off automagically. This goes against everything I have been taught and all of my natural instincts but it does work.

The <snerk> butts <snerk> turned out yummerific. I know cause I sampled one belongin’ to a co-parishoner. She unwrapped it just to get a taste of it before takin’ it home to [del]the ravenin’ hoarde[/del] her family. NUMMY!

Da bear is tahred! So tahred he wants to just go lie upon the bed and watch teevee and probably fall asleep soon.

Nitey Nite Y’all!

I slept pretty much all day. It was lovely.

We just finished eating dinner. The pot roast was outstanding and so was the gravy, if I do say so myself.

I’ve got another load of laundry going and that’s about it. I think I’m going to see if there is anything worth watching on television.

It was a beautiful day out today. So I walked downtown to the only Mexican place there run by Actual Mexicans, got a big citrus tofu* burrito, ate it, and walked back. It was about three miles and some change round trip. That means I earned those calories, right?

Damn Detailed AGM for going on a diet and making me think about losing weight again. Damn my jeans for getting tighter on me.

*Hippy Hollow, folks, Hippy Hollow. And yes it was good.

Shadow: Ooooooooooooooow!

Mork!!!

Shadow: Owwwwwwwieeeeeee!

I think we need to count the number of times swampy has said butt.

Heh…citrus tofu burritos? They’re making me giggle.

Long, fun day. Bacon Camp, then the Greek Festival, then the Gallery Hop, where we stopped at a crepe cart and got some yummy crepes that were filled with black beans, corn, salsa, sour cream and cheddar cheese.

Now I’m sleepy.

Off to bed soon, I think.

Hugs.

GT

I second that. For WW II flics its beat out even Playing for Time on my list.
Big happies to all who earned them and hugs to those who need them. Here’s a holiday hope that few of the hugs need used.
