All the Disney shows are miniseries. The only two that have gotten confirmed sequels so far are Loki and What if? Everything else so far has been one series and done.
That boat trip reminded me of Pixar’s Soul.
I think that was the weakest episode so far.
Taweret has so much potential as a character that seems wasted.
Desperate to explore what is hidden and both still pretend ignorance of alter v3? And scales balance once Steven is over the edge with v3 still stuffed away?
Mom blaming him for his brother’s death and becoming chronically depressed even hateful? Fine. Becoming physically abusive? No need to have gone there when the psychological impact of his own guilt amplified by a mother who explicitly agrees is horrific enough.
Dad wouldn’t come out to the street to see his son?
Hopefully the last ep pulls it all together well.
Well enough. Counting the after credits scene.
C’mon, how does no one on the show talk about the ending to the final fight? It’s sloppy writing to have everyone just shrug and move on.
Other than that, it was pretty entertaining. I liked Layla’s upgrade.
I thought it was perfect. I loved the seamless switching between alts during the fight. And the parallel fight between the gods.
I don’t think it was sloppy writing. I think the two alts ignoring the third is precisely in character for them.
Agreed.
After all, this is a character(s) whose approach to problems is basically to either run away or to parcel them up and stow them away, going so far as to create an entirely different personality for this. That they’re not going to examine these issues with a critical eye is basically a defining trait.
However, I’m still confused regarding the plans for Moon Knight (the character and the IP in the MCU). This series clearly sets up a future arc, but apparently, it’s been submitted for Emmy consideration in the ‘limited series’-category, which would preclude any future seasons. So then, why set up such a story hook?
Ditto! I hope we see more of the Scarlet Scarab!
The story continues, I suppose. Though I would love to see more. Oscar Isaac has done amazing work here.
Maybe it can be submitted as a limited series if there is no current additional season planned, and then can change later?
Seems underhanded though.
Continuing a story does not have to be in the same format. Perhaps Moon Knight will appear as a character in other series or movies.
Wouldn’t hate it! He’d fit in the upcoming Thor movie, for sure.
Sure, they’ve got a history of writing each other off as sleepwalking episodes before this. But their wife might like to know why/how her husband killed half a dozen people in as many seconds. Having been grilled relentlessly about the lapse in judgement that led me to leaving a toilet seat up, I’m reluctant to believe any spouse (even fictional) will let this go with a la-di-da.
It’s not clear how much she knows about Moon Knights’ inner state. Nor how much she saw of his fight. She had her own avatar issues and fight to deal with at the time. I think the writers deliberately left some ambiguity.
I’d love to see a limited series with her as the focus. Or, as with a crossover with Black Panther.
Perhaps someone will relieve my ignorance.
In the comic canon, how much crossover action did Moon Knight have? Is there a canonically most appropriate place to re-home the character in some other active chunk of MCU, particularly in the post-Multiverse phase we’ve entered?
She commented on the last fight “what the hell was that?” (he answered “I blacked out.”) so she saw and noticed something fighting that was clearly different than Marc or Steven …
But she is notably not there as he comes to, back in his London flat, and we as viewers have (apparently like Marc and Steven) no idea how he actually got there once “released”. Nor where Layla is. (And he is not apparently curious about either of those.)
So the parts where Harrow was Marc/Steven’s psychiatrist - those occurred solely in Marc’s head, right? Harrow wasn’t actually part of those. So how did Marc/Steven know about the glass in Harrow’s shoes?
Note that Marc/Steven are still restraining themselves in the bed, so they must be actively investigating if something is happening that neither of them knows about.
mmmaybe? The hospital wasn’t just Marc/Steven’s psychodrama - it was part of their journey to the afterlife. Harrow was the avatar of one of the two death goddesses. It’s possible that “Doctor Harrow” had some connection to the real Harrow. Although I don’t know why he’d still be fucking with Marc’s head after he fatally shot him.
That’s part of what is confusing. It plays like released, to the psychiatric hospital (presumptively in his mind), then very next thing becoming aware back in his flat same as he was at the start but now two goldfish.
We have no sense of either Marc or Steven being aware of or curious about how they got there or what happened to get there. From their POV it was a poof transport like waking up from a dream.
These two personalities actively creating a blind spot regarding Jake is in character. But not having immediate concern about Layla and what has happened to her since their release?
I feel like I am missing something.
To us, it was poofing from one scene to the next, which was the last scene. It could be a month later, Marc/Steven knows Layla is fine, they see her every day, but she could be absent because she doesn’t like that apartment, or she’s ‘on assignment’ for the hippo goddess or any other reason. Granted, it should’ve been made clearer, and nothing I’ve said was actually shown to be supported, but it wasn’t denied either. The last scene was a quick ‘here’s a short snapshot of his status quo, but not all of his status quo.’ Another season, if we get one, could go in any direction, and the status quo we’re left to infer could actually be shown to be anything.
