More Muslim Marvelousnous

Yeah, and the vast majority of Americans attend church every Sunday.

Look, I don’t care about the accusations of racism, if those numbers are anythng like correct, 50% of those muslims are extremist nutters.

Now you may call that a largish minority, you could even go on to say that Islam does not condone this or advocate any such behaviour, but that minority is so large its enough for me to regard the whole Islamic edifice as rotten right the way through to the middle.

I do not make the mistake of making any comparison with any other religious group, because to do so is to raise the classic strawman argument - the evils that are done by others can be readily condemned in their own right, it still does not moderate the obvious sickness that is Islam, not one bit. Those who try to make comparisons with other religious orders have very limited capacity for debate and argument, such points are not relevant in any way, unless the whole debate is to condemn all religion, which the OP did not do.

I get tired of this debating tactic, we can’t say what we need to say about Islam becase somehow it is un-PC, except that it isn’t, you can mention that lunatic who tried to murder the Danish cartonnist, and the root of the mindset of the individual is Islamic extremism - there is simply no getting past that.

Islam is without doubt the root of so much evil and misery, you can do all you like to point out moderate muslims, still does not change the facts. Freedom and Islam are not compatible in the present outlook of the idiots who spread the Islamic sickness across the world.

Look at the way divorce is handled, from child custody through to division of assets, this is uncivilised and barbaric, the reality that femaals in all sectors of Islam are not equals, its simply medieval. Many of the terrible Islamic practices were left behind by the the civilised world hundreds of years ago, what we have is a tribal sheepherder menatility in an SUV/iPod world.

Islam needs a reformation, it needs the equivalent of a Protestant schism so as to create literally a market of Islamic faith, what Islam needs is some competition within its own ranks, something that would allow believers to discover humanity - something that is sadly lacking in around half of all those muslims noted in the earlier figures.

Even if those figures are only partly true (which I strongly suspect they are) the reality is that no other human grouping gets such a free PC pass, and had they not had the epithet of religion attached to them, then this nasty order of inhuman zealots would probably be locked up in the Hague to stand trial on charges of crimes against humanity.

I admire the fact that you type in unrhymed iambic haikumetry.

Are you familiar with Vonnegut? And his concept of a “granfalloon”? The granfalloon is a false segmentation of humanity, which is to say, most all of them. “Christianity” is a granfalloon. “The Tea Party” is a granfalloon. There are people who are kind and humane, and people who are not.

In his book, Cats Cradle, this fallacy is represented by a woman from Indiana, who is deluded in the belief that there is such a thing as “Hoosiers”, that they have certain common qualities, which, of course, they do not. However, it must be emphasized forcefully that the phrase “Hoosier Daddy?” does not appear anywhere in his work. This is slander.

And you reminded me that I used to work with many Muslims at a company owned by a Muslim man. Some were pretty devout, some gave lip-service to their religion, and one believed in stoning only insofar as it involved him sitting in his car at lunchtime getting stoned. None were as crazy as the white guy who edited Alberta Report in an office in the same building.

I used to say the same thing, but I’m beginning to think otherwise. Did the Christian religion change or did the civil society in which most Christians lived (ie, Europe) change first, bringing Christianity along kicking and screaming? I think it was the latter.

Lets not forget that the Protestants did their share of witch burning (or its equivalent), too.

Here’s a lesson in logic for you and your dumbfuck brethren. There is no where that I blame all Muslims or all of Islam. Let’s look at a few examples. Let’s say I wrote the following headlines, with a story about pointing to the excesses, corruption, hassles, unfairness, stupidity, etc., the fall within each entity:

More police marvelousness.
More New York City marvelousness
More federal government marvelousness.
More tax marvelousness.
More Hollywood marvelousness

How would you conclude from this that I’m implying all police are bad, or all of NYC sucks, or all of the government is bad, all taxes are bad, or all Hollywood is bad? How? I wish I could draw you dumb bastards some Venn diagrams and send you back to school to take a logic class.

The fact of the matter is that this is not an isolated instance of this flavor. and what is the common denominator: radical Islam. Does that mean that all of Islam, or all Muslim’s, are guilty of this or similar acts. No. Which might be why I never said that. As NCDane has pointed out (well enough for even the blind, but not the willfully blind) there are a great number of Muslims who believe in the same barbaric, backward-ass shit the early adherents did 1,400 years ago.

But no, let’s IGNORE that common denominator, this is just one guy, or one little small town culture…how dare anyone look to a larger pool. Do you have any idea how stupid that is? I guess not. Well, it’s as stupid as looking at rape and trying to say it’s just “individuals” that commit it, NOT MEN. How dare you say that, there are billions and billions of men who never rape anyone! How dare you make that leap! The horrors!!!

NCDane, well done with all your cites. But don’t think the facts, even laid out as plainly as you have, will have any effect. Those facts and/or similar ones have been presented before, but the PC crowd just will not be swayed by reality.

Who thinks that?

Adherents of both groups are also bipeds.

Please, enlighten us. Point us to the moronic utterances and teach us with your wise words as to what of what he said is moronic and why.

I can’t wait!

Got a mirror? Won’t have to wait.

Well fucking said!!!

And if they were doing it today, don’t you think it should be condemned? And that aspect of the religion? It’s one thing if witches were being burned in one small town, but the more widespread the practice the more the common denominator—the religion the frames things so that witch burning is a good idea—should be condemned. No?

Baby Jesus would kcik you in the balls.

I know it’s too much to ask that your intended-to-be humorous quips actually be humorous, but is it also outside the realm of possibility that they be logical?

Your head is so far up your ass that if he kicked you in the balls his toe would hit you in your Adam’s apple.

That has nothing to do with what my post was about, but thanks for taking that sentence out of context and pretending otherwise.

Christians weren’t very Christian to Jews and Muslims throughout history. Christianity has a terrible track record of persecution of other religions.
Of the three, Jews do not proselytize or try to convert people from other religions.

Does Torquemada ring a bell to anyone?

Yo quiero torquemada!

What? Based on what you wrote I asked you a few questions which I think reasonably follow. You can either agree in full, in part, or not at all. If either of the latter two, some reasoning for the disagreement might be nice.
