I dunno, I’d not say absurd at all since reliable polling indicates that roughly a bazillion people (men, women, and undecided) have or had crushes on David Bowie beginning around high school/college age. He’s one of those timeless ones. Myself, I fell hard when the video for “Blue Jean” came out when I was in high school. That makeup! Thankfully, it led me to seek out his earlier, better albums.
And I get to tell you all that I met Mr. Bowie in person last year! We had a brief conversation (just him and me! alone! well, with his wife and daughter a few feet away), and he touched me on the arm and smiled at me. I was over the moon for weeks (heck, still am). He was graying, slightly pudgy, and wearing a floppy sweater. He looks like a fiftyish dad, and still so, so, so gorgeous. :siiiiiigh:
Oh, and I know that I’ve had my share this thread, but I just thought of another one I met IRL: Jello Biafra, from the Dead Kennedys. I would not consider him incredibly attractive, and he’s got a pretty abrasive personality. But he’s so snarky and confident, or something. I can’t really explain it. Although I spent many hours with him one day about 15 years ago, I was way too shy to flirt, and he sure didn’t show any interest in me. If I only had the confidence then (when I had the rockin’ bod!) that I do now. Oh well.
Since there are so many Munch fans here, I’ll mention that the character has appeared on several TV series: Homicide, Law & Order (original flavor – the show had two crossovers with Homicide), L&O:SVU, The X-Files, and Arrested Development.
I know one of the Blue Man guys who plays in NYC, and he is totally HAWT. It helps that the size requirements (now, now…) are pretty strict, so they are all fairly tall, and fit enough to drum like gangbusters for 6 shows a week. Nice guy, too. We never dated, though.
Don’t really have an absurd celebrity crush of my own, but Milo Bloom does. Every time I’ve read the comic strip this week, I’ve thought of this thread.
I’m rather surprised that this is the first time that RR has been mentioned in this thread. She’s super cute, but for me she’d need to take a vallium or two to calm down a bit.
When I was a kid in the 1970s we had a black & white TV (my parents were cheap), so I didn’t get the benefit of knowing that “color=newish, B&W=old”. I had a mad crush on Annette (Funicello) and Cheryl (Holdridge) from the original Mickey Mouse Club. I had no idea at the time that these pretty girls were actually around my mom’s age (Annette 1-1/2 years older, Cheryl 5 weeks younger). They were just pretty girls who appeared to be slightly older than me.
My absurd crushes? Helen Mirren and Charlotte Rampling. Not in their heyday. Right now. I’d include Vanessa Redgrave, too, but her whacked-out politics have turned me off. They’re absurd because they’re well over twenty years older, but what can I say? I have a thing for older women.
Speaking of which, have you seen Sally Kellerman lately? Frowr Blimey!!
