David has suggested that we hold an election for the most popular poster of THIS section of SDMB. Let’s start it! I have no nomination at this time but, given a few minutes I could suggest one or two!

Now wait a minute – I suggested it jokingly and noted that I’d have to move it to MPSIMS! Jeez…
When this gets tossed I would ask those who post in MPSIMS to limit their votes to posters who post in GD more than MPSIMS.
LOL I know that David, still I thought it was a good idea! Not the first one you’ve had either!!! 
I nominate Libertarian. He is relatively new but as far as I know there is no one who dislikes him. And there are many who do like him.
I would have nominated David but that would be too much like sucking up, 
and besides there are those who do not like him.
Dr.Fidelius would have to runner up for me though.
Posters that assume more than one identity are ruled out from the contest in my book so there are at least two or three that are popular that I couldn’t nominate for that reason.

What is the point of a popularity thread? Do we get points for being popular? Will we be read with more interest if we win?
Do we get to win arguments based on our score?
Do we get cash?

Ok, I’m REALLY new, but I nominate that whoever DOES win gets to be Homecoming Queen/King of the board. I mean, it IS a popularity contest, isn’t it?
(I knew a kid who changed her name to Mothra and campaigned for Homecoming Queen under the slogan “Come on! It’ll piss the popular kids off!”)

You don’t nominate people. You vote for them. I can’t recall exactly how Coldfire did it, but I think people voted for their top 5, and then the points were all totaled (I don’t remember if points were assigned – 5 points to #1, 4 to #2, etc.). Maybe we need to have Coldfire come in here and take care of this one.
BTW, there is absolutely nothing wrong with kissing up to me. I just wanted to point that out.
