David: Kiss Kiss

I intend to ignore this entire sophomoronic issue. I only posted here to kick Libertarian while he was in self-pity mode.

But, as Tom~ said, if there are cash prizes…

Phaedrus, you didn’t notice :David turned around before you went kiss kiss!

Hey, I just had a really stupid idea!

Instead of invading a different board entirely this month, why not just start posting in MPSIMS?

We could then stop back here and report on how the Mundane and Pointless people are reacting to the Master Debaters…

Aw Tom you’re just sore nobody mentioned you.

I think this thread is a good idea because it shows who in the great debates is able to make posts and intelligent argument without making enemies. That is VERY hard to do. There are very few that fit into that category.

So if it is left here we can intermittently discuss the merits of good argumentation.

People who ostracise others with their argumentation may win an argument but they almost NEVER cause someone to change their mind.

9:13 AM “I intend to ignore this entire sophomoronic issue.”

9:16 AM “Hey, I just had a really stupid idea!”

Ah, that road to Hell.

sigh
If only the residency requirements here were as lax as those in New York…

Oh, well. Perhaps next year.

I am a bigot. I prefer THIS section of the board WAY above the others. I think Dr.F’s last comment echos a sentiment I have held for a long time!

This is my last post in this thread, too.

And where did that come from? If you mean the Anti-Infinity thread, I am proud of being willing to change my mind when presented with compelling evidence by a worthy opponent. What’s to pity about that?

Ok, I’m new, and a Pounder, but I vote for Poly.

No Lib, its just that you were listing those people whom you felt disliked you or whom you otherwise annoyed. Sounded a little whiney to me…

Oh. Well, fair enough.

I vote for David B. Runner-ups include pldennison, and believe it or not, Krispy Original.

But no matter what happens, you STILL ain’t taking my overall title away!

I vote for me. I always have something interesting to say and I’m almost completely free of ego.

If not me, I vote for Polycarp, tomndebb and Libertarian. Those three have taught me a lot.

“It’s my considered opinion you’re all a bunch of sissies!”–Paul’s Grandfather

Relax, Lib, I don’t hate you; I just find you annoying. And the less said about your mathematical understanding, the better.

Phaedrus - if Poly doesn’t post enough to be that well known and liked, you’ve been on the wrong threads.

tracer is too mean to Christians? I’ve never found anything he’s said about Christians to be particularly bothersome. I generally enjoy his posts.

Poly and Gaudere have my first two votes; I’d have to flip a coin to put one ahead of the other. After that, a lot depends on whose posts I’ve been reading lately; there are a couple dozen people (at least) that I’d like to vote for as well.

Yikes, let’s not continue to turn this into MPSIMS. Popularity contest? Up, next. . .gossip, sexual positions and our pet peeves!

Most of us come to this particular forum for intellectual stimulation, not ego stroking.

DrFidelius, I might have voted for you, but you’re a damn MasterDebater ;)!

I greatly admire all of the regular posters to this forum who are able to debate with great wisdom and intelligence and refuse to sink into closeminded defensiveness.

Right now, in my private life, there are very few who can give me a good run for my money in a debate - I thank the regular posters here for not only out-debating me on several occasions, but also for educating me.

Now you’ve hut my feelings. I get around plenty.

The worst are full of passionate intensity.

Oh, crap! I forgot Glitch. Put his name in there.

A delightfully paradoxical remark.

I also feel a strange attraction to Satan. He hasn’t noticed me much, but I did ask on one of the other boards whether he was a member of TOPS. (He liked my Microsoft Office 2000 link.)

First place: Gaudere. The lady can argue her steadfast views articulately and without rancor. She is second only to Phil in her tenacity in finding the weak points in argument. But even more valuably, she can put on her empathy hat and interpret the views of someone she may be diametrically opposed to. I suspect if we wanted the views of a Gnostic Buddhist on gun control, she could do a credible job of producing what one could think.

I find Tris’s posts nearly always enlightening and often they hit very close to home, and we hear far too little from him.

I have said elsewhere that David is nearly the ideal “active” moderator, unafraid to argue his case but capable of shifting roles from debater to moderator and back.

Dozens of people in second place, more or less tied with the above, including Snark, Wally (who GD’s rarely but always with wit and usually with wisdom), Phil, slythe, Lib, RT, Holly, 'Gator, Manhattan, Tom~, Andros, and about a whole lot more that I’ll feel very embarrassed for not having listed.
