Most popular poster of Great Debates

I, of course, vote for Polycarp, since he voted for me (second place, that is). Long live king Poly!

“God would never let me be happy. He’d kill me first.”
“I thought you didn’t believe in God.”
“I do for the bad things.” - George Costanza

Hmmmm, how odd. No votes for the short-lived mbagnall. Puzzling indeed.

Satan said:

Cool! Now I can use a sig that says, “Voted first place in GD by the First Place overall!”

(Ok, don’t worry about the dollar anymore.)

Incidentally, I will not be “voting” here, folks. Although I keep my personal opinions separated from my moderator actions, I decided when the very first of these “most popular” threads started a while ago that I would not vote because it might look bad, even though it would have no bearing on my moderating.

But if I were going to vote, I’d vote for…

I usually don’t post in these kind of threads over in MPSIMS, but here, I feel I must tip my hat to Gaudere. She’s an excellent debater who truly comes across without sarcasm or condescension, unlike some others I could name.

“Sherlock Holmes once said that once you have eliminated the
impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be
the answer. I, however, do not like to eliminate the impossible.
The impossible often has a kind of integrity to it that the merely improbable lacks.”
– Douglas Adams’s Dirk Gently, Holistic Detective

That’s okay, David; I won’t tell.

I was going to vote for Gaudere, who has the annoying habit of expressing my exact opinions but more quickly and eloquently than I can post. I’m afraid all this praise will make her arrogant, though, so I’ll vote for someone else.

Can I take pride in knowing that despite some very good posts, I wont even make the top 50 thanks to “others” influence.

YES!

Of course, the fact that you’ve been posting for less than a week might also hinder your chances…

I am very impressed with many of the minds here and I could make quite a list, but if I have to choose one I am going to have to vote for Manyfish (Polycarp). Frankly, I find Poly’s messages to me truly insightful, robust and well-considered and Polycarp to be the epitome of polite & intelligent debate!

Okay, I’ll admit something here.

Except for Libertarian (whom I have noticed, I hasten to add), none of y’all even mentioned me.

Was it not I who got people going to the LBMB, which stimulated much debate, and still does? One could argue that that act alone allowed much debate in this forum.

As far as sheer debating skills, how about my arguing skills in the “Hate Crimes” thread? Remember that? I considered it my finest hour, as I got The Hipster Dufuz (aka George) to run for the hills!!

It seems that I have been marginalized as a MPSIMS poster… And I honestly feel that to be somewhat degrading. I have been ghettoized, and it hurts me, fellow debaters…

So fuck ya’ll! I vote for me! And I promise a dollar to anyone who does the same!

All Hail Satan…All Hail Satan…

All Hail Satan…

Satan has tempted me to vote for him.

The IQ of a group is equal to the IQ of the dumbest member divided by the number of people in the group.

Oh yeah… and we all know what’ll freeze over before ya get the dollar…

A couple of obvious omissions…Satan has long been somebody I like to match wits with. Glitch always has a fascinating take on subjects we share an interest in. Dr. Fidelius is, well, aside from being witty and erudite, the most popular Curator of Anomalous Paleontology on the board.

In a realm where everything needs to be nailed down and documented, Krispy Original’s attempts at getting some speculation going are a breath of fresh air, and, well, original.

And we have got to find ways to pry Eve out of MPSIMS more often. If insight, wit, and urbane courtesy are the criteria for SDMB popularity, she wrote the book! [Unpaid adv.]

Br’er Satan Campaigned thus:

I don’t think hightailing it back here one step ahead of a howling mob of torch bearing, pitchfork wielding, wild eyed fanatics exactly qualifies as stimulating debate. It was entertaining as hell though…and I could use the buck…so I’ll vote for you.

Satan: politicking - bad form!

Besides, I’m still waiting on my first buck.

Satan, if I had been voting, it would have been possible that you’d have been on my list.

Hell, I’ll offer a dollar to David if he moves this thread to MPSIMS . . .

Barring that, andros is far and away my favorite poster.

Geez, I think y’all are taking this popularity thing way too seriously.

Like my new sig?

I vote for myself. mwah! (That’s me smooching my image in a mirror.)

Other than that, I’d say Satan wins if we’re going by popularity, and Phaedrus wins if we’re going by sheer number of words posted.

The truth, as always, is more complicated than that.
