Moulin Rouge Songs

I was just wondering if anyone knows of a website or some other resource I can go to that has the original songs that Moulin Rouge pieced together for its songs.
I’m particularly interested in the Elephant Love Medley or whatever it is they sing in the elephant. To be even more precise Christian and Satine’s exchange of:

S: You, you will be mean
C: No I won’t
S: And I, I’ll drink all the time

It’s been bugging me for the past few days and any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

P.S. - I don’t want this to degenerate into a fight about whether or not it was a good movie/musical so can we please keep it out of this thread?

Looks to me like it could be David Bowie’s song Heroes. Is it possible you misquoted the lyrics ?

Yep, I was right. It was Bowie’s song. In a case like this I should have gone and look directly at the IMdb (scroll down for a list of all the songs).

No, it looks like the song Heros was cut up and changed a little bit to fit in the movie.

Though it seems you’ve solved the mystery of the song you wanted, since I bothered to look it up, I note that the following songs are listed in the liner notes from my copy of the soundtrack for Elephant Love Medley:

One More Night
Pride (In The Name of Love)
Don’t Leave Me This Way
Silly Love Songs
Up Where We Belong
Heroes
I Will Always Love You
Your Song

The writers are in here too, but in a few cases at least, I’m not sure they’d be helpful when it comes to identifying the song.

Wow. Was I the only one who thought Satine said “You, you will beat me” instead of “You, you will be mean?”

Is my whip fetish bleeding through here?

.:Nichol:.

You might be. I recognized the song as “Heroes” immediately, and since the song was altered very little I already knew what Satine was going to sing.

I always felt “Heroes” stuck out of the “Elephant Love Medley” like a sore thumb. Good use of the lyrics, and I actually liked the string arrangement, but for some reason it didn’t seem to fit in with the other songs in the medley to me.

Well now the question is answered.

Mulin Rouge is fantastic and anyone who says different, disagrees!

P.S. I loved the use of Queen’s “The Show Must Go On” it was as if the song was written for Moulin Rouge.

Yeah, I thought "The show must go on " was brilliant, I also thought the “Roxanne” tango was one of the best parts.
