Move Vs Kinect - Which are you picking up, and why?

I sold my Wii because it was collecting dust. And if it was purely up to me I’d skip both the move and Kinect, but the wife wants some sort of motion control game that she can play with her mom when she comes to visit us for the holidays.

I’ve read some reviews of both so far and the impression that I get is:

Move = Wii
Kinect = lag

Both possibilities turn me off. I’m not interested in the same exact Wii experience just with nicer graphics, and I’m worried about the lag of the Kinect that everyone keeps talking about.

So I come to you, Dopers, What have you heard about each of the two offerings. have you made up your mind already? have you gotten a chance to try either, both? Maybe you already made up your mind to go with the move and you own it?

I’d like ot hear about your experiences and your suggestions. The system will mainly be for my wife who is a casual gamer at best, but if I can get my heart pumpin’ a little bit doing something fun, I’m all for it.

Neither, right now. I’m seldom if ever an early adopter, and it’s way too early in the cycle for this stuff for me to put my money down.

Children of Eden for the Kinect (not required) seems pretty spiffy though, but most of the lineup for both offerings is either Wii-too type stuff, or things that just fail to engage me (Whee, Kinectimals.)

That said, I may eventually pony up for something Kinect related if I can get some decent exercise out of it. =_=

I bought Move completely by accident on a whim on the day it was released. My girlfriend and I were in Best Buy, and I suddenly had a craving to find a good tennis game because I hadn’t been using my PS3 lately. The one tennis game they had said that it required Move, and I figured, “Oh, that came out a month or two ago; I wonder how much that is?” Which is when we stumbled across the employees unpacking the Move gear on the shelf, and they had a Sony rep on site who came over and talked me into buying it.

At any rate, yes, Move is very much like the Wii. More accurate, I think (even than the Wii Plus), and, of course, the games have better graphics. But essentially the same idea. I have the sports game set that came with the Move system (which is like a step-brother to Wii Sports Resort) and a racket sports game that I have thus far been unimpressed by. Reviews I’ve read since suggest that the Move has a lot of promise once more sophisticated titles are released, but unless you’re really missing the Wii, I wouldn’t tell you to hurry.

Playing Bocce and Frisbee Golf against other folks has been a lot of fun, though, I admit.
