Movie blurbs you can't make up

“The Station Agent”: Peter Dinklage, Patricia Clarkson(2003) A friendly man and a tormented woman try to befriend an anti-social dwarf who inherited a train depot… (1:35) (TV-MA)cc ***"

I swear it, that’s the Cable blurb, word for word, for a movie on the the Sundance Channel. The *** are for the number of stars the Cable Critic gave it. Three.

Got a funny one you can post?

I hope this passes the Mundane-Pointless Test.

I’m not sure I follow. Do you think that is a bad description of the film, or have you not seen it and you think that is a ridiculous concept for a film?

It’s a good movie and not a bad description of it, although the train depot bit is a fairly pointless detail.

IMDB’s blurb for Bubba Ho-tep is amusing, but then it’s supposed to be a ridiculous premise:

I really liked The Station Agent. Although upon first reading it it does seem to be an odd movie description.

Yeah the Station Agent is pretty good…Except for the obligatory indie movie “bonding while smoking pot” scene.

I like when the cable guide blurb editorializes on the movie. I want one to just say “This movie sucks. Change the channel. Approx running time: 87 minutes.”

There’s a sinister plot to kidnap the President…

Sure!

Years ago, our cable service ran The New Kids.

The cable blurb seemed innocuous enough: “After moving to a new town, two children have some trouble with the local kids.”

To my vast musement, the actual movie involves said local kids trying to rape the sister, and the sister and brother eventually have to electrocute, decapitate, and otherwise exterminate their tormentors in a series of horror-movie-style encounters in an amusement park.

“…some trouble with the local kids” indeed.
