Movies With No Love Interests

Marginal. Will Smith is definitely attracted to the Medical Examiner and she seems to be ready to reciprocate (you know, until the flashy-thingy. Again.). The MIB 2 and 3 definitely do have love interests.

Plus the sub-plot of Agent K and his lost love.

It’s been a while, but E.T.?

Zulu
The Naked Prey
The Caine Mutiny

It’s minor, but Elliot kisses a girl he likes in his class (under the telepathic influence of ET, who is watching John Wayne kiss Maureen O’Hara on TV) and is sent to the principal’s office.

Almost. There is at least one scene with Ensign Keith and his fiance, which may have some bearing on how he bears himself at the court martial.

More than one. She’s in the beginning, middle (they go to Yosemite together while he’s on leave), and end of the film. I’d say the film absolutely has a love interest.

Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World
The Shawshank Redemption

OK, the latter revolves about Andy’s marriage, and I’m sure he says that he loved his wife - but that was (obviously) outside of the timeframe of the film.

The Big Lebowski.

Sure, there’s Maude and the coitus, but no real love interest.

True Grit (both versions)

The Big Lebowski and Bunny. Walter and his off screen ex. I think The Dude’s landlord has a thing for him. Franz and his toeless girlfriend.

Hmm, the first 3 are fairly one directional. As is presumably the …, um, well, uh. Forget it.

The Big Lebowski hates Bunny, and only pretended to pay the ransom for her, and she despises him.

Can nihilists even be in love?

I was going to reply with “What about Donny, who loved bowling?” but held off for fear of instigating a thread jack. With that said, and in light of recent responses…

What about Donny, who loved bowling?

Does love for activities and associated paraphernalia not count as a “love” interest?

You are out of your element.

oh, shut the fuck up

Shut the fuck up, donny

The Wrong Man

The Man Who Could Work Miracles, based on the H.G. Wells story (and arguably the best adaptation of a Wells story to film).

Moby Dick
Robinson Crusoe
