Moving On Up - A New Neighbor MMP

Slothage is the goal, not a bug.

I finished the bead-work

Imgur
and promptly moved on to mounting my next piece in a scrolling frame. Both of these things require sharp needles and my poor fingers feel like hamburger.

I boiled eggs and have left some in the shell so I can make tea eggs in the morning and feel all fancy and stuff. The tea is steeping for proper coloration, I will have them with an english muffin in the morning. No carb hubs will not have the muffins and will make comments about the eggs but he will eat them because we is both lazy and would rather eat funny colored food than have to cook for ourselves.

We have ham, so we will eat ham for supper and forage if needed.

I sent my BFF a pic of the first stitch on her project and she promptly came over to see for herself because cell phone pics are not great.

I am coming to realize that BFF actually values my advice because I have seen her change how she was doing things because of something I’ve said. The reason it took so long for me to figure it out is because NOBODY ever listens to me.

Tomorrow I will be putting out another hummer feeder. It seems as though two aren’t enough. I love it!

Evening, mumpers! We left Richland in bright sunshine this morning and drove back to Portland on a scenic route that got us here about an hour earlier than we had arranged to drop off the car. We got to the rental place, there was nobody around so I filled in the details they needed and dropped the keys into the box. Got the tram thingie into town and found our hotel.

We ate early, tried out a couple of bars and are now back in our room with a bottle of wine, just chilling.

Heard sad news that a friend’s mother passed away earlier today, not unexpected as she had been ill for some te amd had deteriorated quite rapidly. Still very sad for him and his sister.

swampy hope your priest gets better soon!

Read much, retained little…rosie’s sig to all :grinning:

I so feel your pain. Literally. Your post made my chest hurt a little bit too.
Hope everything goes as smoothly as possible for you, and by this time next year we are both settled into our new homes!

And I apologize for not being in the conversations with all the other mumpers. I find myself very distracted right now. I am reading it all, and offer my yays, boos, kudos and hugs as appropriate!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

Yes.

Well, I have Fireball if you change your mind.
and {{{{hugs}}}}} for the whole family.

need toa hard some days.

Soth is good. And after the past few years(and the move) you deserve an extended version.

Payton Manning likes your choice:

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 60 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy with a predicted high of 84 and could be rainy(ish) today, or not. I get to have another kinda bzzzy day today. In a little while I shall betake myself to the church house and do some necessary stuff to get things ready for tomorrow. Fun things like place the banners back where they live, move the candelabras back to the Altar, wrestle the Pascal Candle to its place and a few other fun things. I want to do all that before the Altar Guild starts doin’ their thing. I want to be well out of their way. We found a supply Priest for tomorrow, so yay for that. I shall attend the Easter Vigil this evenin’ as a show of solidarity I reckon. All three local churches band together to do this and this year it is at St. Paul’s church, which is actually about half the distance from da cave that my own church is. Oh and we shall have ham, N.O.T. sallit, green beans, squish casserole, deviled aigs, rolls, and Eyetalian cream cake for Easter feastin’ tomorrow. JDD and Partner are comin’ over to eat and will bring the cake and some champagne. We figure Easter deserves a champagne toast or six.

Sunny hope the treatments do get Beamette back on track.

Butters I haven’t been good at it this week, but slothage is the goal of retirement, so think of it as bein’ retired and doin’ it right. Glad Buddy and you had a good visit with son and girlfriend.

BooFae sorry about your friend’s mom.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas, alack, and bother of bothers yet again, I suppose I must needs purtify and don appropriate attire if I am to be amongst the general public. This is becomin’ a habit I must somehow break!

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

@JaneDoe42

That is a beautiful piece! So intricate, and the color scheme is exquisite!

butters, even living by myself, I buy a ham at least once a year (usually around Christmas). Once I have my fill, I wrap the bone for a pot of black eyed peas or beans later and package the rest up into one pound packages and freeze all. I’m down to one pound of the Christmas ham left. It will likely season a pot of white beans.

You do beautiful work jane the cane.

I’m sorry about your friend’s mom BooFae. Even when expected, death creates a loss for those left behind.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasting and fixing to be fairly slothful today.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Morning all. The rains came late last night, so my soccer games for the morning have been washed out. They are still deciding on the other park and I may be able to referee there instead, plus a 10am game in another district close by has no referee, so I may wander over there to find exercise. We shall see.

62F going to the mid-70’s today and looks like all the rain has moved elsewhere (looks like it moved down around swampy’s neck of the woods) for the time being. If all the soccer is cancelled I will go to the gym as it will be closed for Easter tomorrow.

Jane the Cane, lovely work.

wheelie, Sunny, fingers and other appropriate appendages crossed for good mortgage agreements and signatures.

OK, 9am here, see if they have posted an updated status for the soccer field…nope, will have to find out later. Take care all.

Greetings from Port Canaveral!

I’m not going to pretend that I read anything. Today is chill in the hot tub day!!

I feel like I’m cheating today. I’m not doing anything except I might push the vacu-suck around. But no going to the shop, no working. First saturday off in a month and a half.

It’s awesome.

And all the soccer games have been cancelled. So need to be off to the gym to do my required sweating.

Heaved, got a load of laundry in the dryer. Naptime.

If it’s cold, have them turn it on before you get in. :stuck_out_tongue:

This is gorgeous!

Good for you! I hope you get the whole weekend to enjoy sloth.

Yesterday evening the mortgage company called and said they were sending docs today. I do not understand banks at all. I’ll wait to see the money in my account, but there is cause for cautious optimism.

The weather here is dark and grey, which I am fine with. We had rain last night, and more today. I’m not sure we’ll get any more this rain season. There are a few possibilities on the horizon, but nothing we can count on. I’ll hold out hope.

Thank you for the kind words guys. All y’all are the best.

Happy Saturday!

If you have leftover ham one thing you can do with it is Cuban Rice. The linked recipe is pretty close to my recipe, except I don’t use MSG. You might like it, or you might hate it, but it’ll get rid of some of your ham.

Otherwise hugs, noogies, wet salmon, etc.

Today is for Easter baking. This morning I baked a lemon cake and spread the glaze on it. Tomorrow I’ll dust it with powdered sugar. Then I started the challah bread, of which I intended to bake two. But I got distracted and I put in twice the amount of flour, so I doctored it by adding more of the other ingredients. In my career as a baker I rarely made this mistake, I’ve don this recipe probably hundreds of times over thirty years. So now I’ll have four loaves. They are rising now, almost ready for the oven. I’ll take two to church for the Easter breakfast tomorrow morning. I haven’t started on the chocolate bundt cake yet, it is a simple recipe and I may wait until after the vigil this evening.

bumba That recipe lost me at the first line. Canned peas? Nope.

You’re doing fine by us. Just keep hanging in there, we’ve got you.

Hope that you enjoyed your deserved day off VanGo. Sometimes, when we work for ourselves, we have a real whip cracker for a boss.

:waves: Hi Mooooooom!

Got the aigs boiled for tomorrow (I’ll peel / fill them in the morning), prepped breakfasts / lunches for the irk week, filled the car up, picked up a small head of cabbage at the market down the street that I forgot to buy at the grocery and made a kick-@$$ pot of eggroll soup (basically eggroll filling with a couple of quarts of chicken broth added). Other than that, I messed around in the studio a lot today.

And he would know!

Thanks everyone for the kind words

The instructions were very clear and the designer did a wonderful job with the colors, some folks are so talented! I really admire folks like you who can both design and pick colors for beautiful projects.

Mom bought this kit 30 or so years ago and unearthed it last year. Many designers back then attached actual photographs of the finished piece and over time the stickim gets too old to hold and the photos came loose. I thought that was the case with this piece, so really didn’t know what it was supposed to look like until I was about half way through and found the photograph on the very back page.

I’m glad I’m done with the sharp needle stuff for a while, my poor fingers are still sore from being poked so often last night. I really remembered when I squeezed a slice of lemon in my water, OWIE!

I’m slightly irritated at the designer of my current piece. I usually start at the center and work outwards but this designer doesn’t give any stitch counts based on the center, she had me measure from the bottom. I can tell already that the work isn’t going to be correctly centered on the canvas which does not spark joy in my life.

It won’t really matter, I’m working a 14 inch piece on 18 inches of canvas so there will be plenty of unused fabric left for the framer, but it still makes me grumbly. Not grumbly enough to pick everything out and start over, though. I’ve gotten really lazy in my old age, I totally would have picked it out 30 years ago.

Good for you, your boss seemed like a real jerk, the way he kept working you day and night with nothing to eat or drink.

Good luck with the mortgage issues wheelie and Sunny, I hope the holiday doesn’t cause delays!

Hubs is bottling beer and needs me to help, so off I go to be productive for a very short amount of time.
