Same. So, I get a packaged ham steak - it’s just enough for one or two meals.
I napped. I had a weirdly disjointed dream about the Twelfth Doctor, ghosts, alien babies, cleaning my room in my childhood home in Durham, mismatched hangers, and soul crushing ennui. ![]()
Beautiful!
Did you say sonething. ![]()
Also, eat.
jane the cane, someone (me) listens to you. You reminded me about being certain of the center in a project. The squares of paper quilt blocks that I’m making from scraps were in need of that process. Thanks! ![]()
@nelliebly, I like your mom. I was raised Methodist and we didn’t make a fuss about Lent or Good Friday, but my mom said the weather is always gray and depressing on G.F. I find that I’m kinda somber on that day.
I have finally totally recovered from the colonoscopy. The last gas has past…
Awwwwww!!! Thank you!
Besides needing to know where my center is, I also make it a point to mark the top of my project. Always knowing which way is up is actually a good life skill for any occasion, LOL!
You do know that pics of your project are required now, right? If you are using scraps, are you trying to make any color choices or is it going to be totally random. Same question about textures. Are you using the same technique as hippy? Do you develop calluses from sticking yourself with your sharp needle all the time? Does Nelson help?
Just because I’m not interested in actually doing a craft doesn’t mean I’m not super interested in how it’s done.
Evening all. After gym time (600 calories burnt on the bicycles, sweated like a horse), I came home and took a hot bath then went out to an early steak dinner with a large mug of Coors. So by the time I got home I was already half-asleep and nappage lasted over 90 minutes. But I’m much better now…
VanGo, take it from me, a little slothage is a good thing.
Cupcakes, hope the baking all comes out well.
OK, need to snack a little and then think about bedtime…still a little tired even with the long nap. All y’all take care.
The kitties are so good together when they’re asleep apart.
I spent the entire frickin’ day making a video. Did I want to be making a video? No. An old friend’s sixtieth birthday is coming up, and her daughter asked all her mom’s friends to make a video wishing her a happy birthday. I am VERY camera shy and deleted over 30 attempts because I thought I looked terrible or because I looked as uncomfortable as I felt. I have no trouble teaching a roomful of people or giving speeches, but cameras–yikes.
Ai’m also a techno-idiot, so once I made the darn thing, I couldn’t get it attached to an email. I know how to do attachments, of course. I just couldn’t share the video. I had to call two friends.
Enough ranting. Tomorrow is Easter, and I intend to be in a serene mood.
Jane the Cane, that is BEAUTIFUL. I am once again in awe.
wet one, i know exactly what I you mean. The only upside is that Easter is that much sweeter.
Hangers are supposed to MATCH? I’m in trouble. My hangers look like a fistfight at the UN.
I wish we were neighbors. I bet your house smells amazing!
Wheelz, sunny, hope you’re both off the rollercoaster soon and happily ensconced in your new digs.
VanGo, sloth is good for the soul. Glad you get some! Will the play lead to other jobs?
This brought tears to my eyes. I’m not nearly the person Mom was–you’d have loved her–but I hope her influence somehow shines through my fault-laden self.
I know not everyone celebrates Easter, so I’ll just wish you all a beautiful day that reaffirms any faith you’ve had in humanity . ![]()
I have CDO, so everything is color coded, and the exact same style of hanger…
Validation, thank you!!! One of the big selling points for our current home was the Jack and Jill walk in closets. Hubs can have his hangers in a messy bunch and I have my clothes on matching color hangers with different styles depending on the fabric weight. Of course everything is sorted by fabric color and weight.
What? You’ve all seen my needlework, do you think I’d be any less CDO about my other stuff? Speaking of which…
Thank you, and have I mentioned that while I like doing projects that have a planned use, I have a whole bunch finished canvases in a drawer? If not, perhaps I should expand on that.
If anyone ever wants me to send them an unplanned project, I would love to give them to a good home. Please just ask! (I don’t want to be Mom, she is really bothered that my sister will probably throw all of her completed pieces out a week after Mom is dead.)
I come here for that. ![]()
I always refer to those as “the greatest food that never happened”
lol as someone who worked in the dregs of retail ( a store at a swap meet) I can commiserate
my biggest peeve was people that thought you should give things away for whatever coin change they had in their hand because we were inside a swap meet … we sold expensive mostly used video games for 20 percent of that the stores did
I got revenge one time tho … Now this was when my boss was gone for a bit for various reasons
this game was popular at one time and it went for 80 in the stores … we were selling it for 30 … this guy who had been a PITA before had come over and thought he should get it for 10 " because it was used and at a swap meet" we told him to piss off very politely, and he walked off
Well, next week he tried again saying it was for a birthday and once again I said no … and he was pissed off and he came back and showed me that he bought it for "pennies " and I said congratulations and he strutted off proudly … Now my boss’s niece was filling it for her … mainly holding the money and driving there I turned to her and said when he comes back next week I’m hiding the game … she looked confused but said ok
Well week 3 and he came over and low and behold … he got ripped off and he really needed it
and I said I just sold it … his face fell through the floor and he was… He asked if we were going to get it again … and I said I wouldn’t know until I opened the place up … So he slinked off like he was going to a funeral …
Well, next week I was ready for him… I said we had the game but it’s going be 10 bucks more and I wanted the game he bought that supposedly didn’t work …you could see he was mentally eating crap… but he took the deal … he never said much to us after that about our prices or anything … and the game he bought? it just needed cleaning… I took the cleaning wand and had to fix it in 10 minutes …
My boss was annoyed because he might not of came back to but she would of done the same thing …
bumba That recipe lost me at the first line. Canned peas? Nope.
Peas are good …
Peas are good …
Fresh or frozen are. Canned are icky-vile.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 61 Amurrkin out and very foggy (we have a DENSE FOG ADVISORY in effect until ten a.m.) with a predicted high of 81 with rain/tstorms/apocalypse predicted for later in the afternoon. Again, we shall see. TWPTB said the same yestiddy and we got a couple of moderate rains. I survived gettin’ the church house ready for today, cookin’ for the big feast this afternoon (everything but the rolls is done, so we can reheat stuff whilst the rolls bake up), and attended the Easter Vigil last night. We crashed shortly after nine last night. This mornin’ I ride herd over six acolytes, well four, cause the two older ones are aces and will do their stuff no problem. The four range in age from seven to ten. Anywho, if’n I survive that, ‘tis back to da cave for the big feast. Much chillage shall ensue this evenin’.
Mismatched hangers are not a big deal unless they are wire hangers. If they are wire hangers the ghost of Joan Crawford will haunt you and beat you with the wire hangers.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, purtification for deheathenization must commencce.
Happy Sunday Y’all! Happy Easter to all who observe!
Fresh or frozen are. Canned are icky-vile.
But whirled peas is what we should all hope for.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. I shall do the cleaning, and perhaps nap a bit.
But whirled peas is what we should all hope for.
All we are saying…
Is give peas a chance ![]()
jane the cane, there is no sewing involved in the type of “quilting” that I’m doing. I play with paper, so I wind up with scraps from various projects. After cutting them into sizes that work well in card making, I cut the stuff smaller than 2"X2" down to 1"X1" for use in paper quilts. I use traditional quilt block patterns scaled for 3-5" square, then make borders with the rest. Once adhered to backing, I run them through an embossing folder for texture and voila! I have a focal point / border for a card or a border for next year’s cookbook project. I would post pics of some of these, but I don’t know how to post pics that I haven’t put online (I would be grateful for a tutorial from anyone who wishes to offer
).
Happy Easter!
I shall devil some aigs shortly, do KP, shower and pack the rolly cart for the kids at the pic-a-nic today. Once the car is loaded, I’ll leash up Nelson and we’ll head out around 10:00.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
The house is empty. A crew of four showed up early yesterday and they were gone by about 3 PM. Right at the end, a squall blew in and we had rain, sleet, graupel, hail and thunder. It’s been a wild April in the PNW. Then our rental bed was delivered. It’s a queen and really feels small to me. I’m sitting on a deck chair in the kitchen and the cat is wandering around squalling at the inconvenience of not having her tower to perch on. We have the old TV on the floor in the living room, which I’ll give away before we leave here, so we have some entertainment. The floor refinishers come in tomorrow, so we’ll sleep in the RV for a few days. I don’t think Easter dinner is going to be an option, but I don’t care about such holidays much.
Gotta get some caffeine in the system before today’s activity, which is basically doing a bit of cleaning and touch-up painting. Cheers, all.
