Moving On Up - A New Neighbor MMP

Unfortunately, Naked Earl passed away about 5-6 years ago. I just hope that St. Peter made him put a robe on when he got to the Pearly Gates.

Boo heads off to dig up a couple of nips of rum to stash in the storm supplies in the basement-to go with the room temperature Diet Cokes stashed alongside the bottles of water. Climbing back the steep stairs when the all clear sounds may get interesting.<

You classier Mumpers would be stashing the makings of Viex Carres, I know. Don’t tell mooom but there’re no coasters down there. The whole basement is kinda one big dorm storage room run amok. My now 33 year old’s legos and high school science thermite are still languishing down there. At least I have toys to amuse myself.

That’s exactly what I suggested. She said she’ll ask her direct boss but doesn’t think he’ll do it.

Her two direct bosses are letting her make the move because they like her and don’t want to lose her. But they’re leaving HR out of it and won’t put it in writing because it would establish a precedent that anybody could move wherever they want. There’s a bit more to it, but they want to keep her working for the NorCal market, and rhe higher-ups would likely insist that she move to the Nevada market, which does not include her particular position and would likely mean a pay cut and/or a less desirable job.

Anyway, we talked to our financial guy this morning and he basically said, “Everything is negotiable. They want your business as much as you want the loan.” So we’re going to tell them we’ll have to shop for another lender (and probably will actually do so) and see what happens. That call is tomorrow morning.

So I’m a bit calmer now than I was earlier. <washes own mouth out with soap>

That makes sense. When my daughter and SIL were buying their house a few weeks ago, the bank REALLY worked to help them out during a snafu. Houses are going for obscenely high prices, but there are fewer sales, so mortgage lenders are pretty eager.

So glad you’re feeling better. I hope the soap wasn’t Lifebuoy.

Remember that power outage we had early Monday morning? Here’s an article.

In other news, this happened Tuesday:

The intersection of Forsberg & Harborview is on my walking route.

Afternoon, mumpers! The Great Snow Adventure co tinues for us! After driving through some horrendous conditions yesterday to reach Walla Walla, we were horrified to see snow on the ground this morning. Luckily it seemed to be melting so we decided we could continue with our planned route to Dayton for lunch and then through the Washington Palouse area as it’s meant to be a scenic drive…but we reached Dayton in snow and poor visibility so decided to have lunch and turn back to Walla Walla, then take a shorter and more direct route to Richland.

Arrived here in bright sunshine to find we have been upgraded to a suite with views across the river. Shame it’s just for one night and then we go back to Portland to drop off L’il Sparky and have a few days on foot before we start the trek home.

nellie, in large airports (think DFW), I generally take one of the golf cart shuttles. Beats trying to make your connection with a bag, carryon and gimp leg.

sari, when I take Nelson for a spa day, I always specify no cologne. Most of the time, they follow directions, but sometimes he comes out smelling like a French whore on dollar day.

OW, I can totally see ruble mooning the neighbors. :stuck_out_tongue: I miss having him around.

Yikes wheelie! I hope that you can get things straightened out.

Irked, came home, took Nelson outside, where he got to hang with his girlfriends in the next building for a bit before being let off leash to play with Sully next door. They were both guarding us from the elderly pomeranian across the fence (fortunately, he’s pretty deaf and just saw two doggos being silly).

Off for the weekend now. I’ll get the usual stuff done tomorrow and make deviled aigs Saturday to take to the spring pic-a-nic with the heathens. Nelson even gets to go to this one (he’ll get to hang out with the rest of the heathen pooches, which he hasn’t done for a couple of years).

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

My plans got derailed because maintenance showed up to fix the oven, which had a wonky thermostat and the heaters, which had a similar issue. I’ll get to the gym but will skip vaccination for now.

It sure does! I opted for the wheelchair because the people mover/golf carts often have to pick up multiple parties, and we were worried she wouldn’t make her connecting flight. The wheel chair and the Usain Bolt pushing it were a godsend.

I got a kick out of Nelson hanging with his girlfriends and teaming up with Sully to protect you from the Pomeranian. Such a character, that dog of yours.

Tank is empty. I hope the truck gets here…

Home from a verrrrryyyy lonnnnnng week at work. I was promised tomorrow off, but I also have “homework” tallying up points from this new checklist system our Asshole Manager (the interim G.M.) cooked up. He “volun-told” me to do the points, and they’re due tomorrow because he wants them at the halfway point for the month.

Forty-two years old, work at a restaurant … and I have flippin’ homework y’all.

He said he’d pay me for my time, but … urgh, I still haz an aggravated.

Anyway, I’m hungry - starving, really - but have no IDEA what I wanna eat.
Nothing in the fridge, freezer, or pantry looks good. Nothing from nearby affordable establishments looks good.

Bah.

Meanwhile, kittehs got some outside time, plus a new treat - a pouch of just straight-up gravy, like what comes with a can of gooshy food. That’s Nikki’s favorite thing, and since she’s getting old & decrepit, she’s officially reached the “whatever you want, my darling” threshold.

This morning when I got up, she was curled up in MY chair. I gently pulled a lightweight blanket over her, and sat on my own floor to do my morning stuff (smoke, MMP, zombie game, small snack) rather than disturb her slumber.

That was a great story.

Didn’t know they made garlic schnapps.

Once again, B.B.Boo gives kind, wise advice.

I’d add: steer away from politics entirely (if possible) and don’t bring up Asshole Ex unless she does first - she may want to vent about him, or she may still feel defensive around family about him. (She married him, so there’s some self-image built into that.)

:trophy: to B.B.Boo for immediately saying the exact best thing, though.

My tired brain scrambled letters & parsed this as a “not safe for work” (NS(F)W) radio, and had a very confused moment.

Nah. Screw top. Plus some chocolate (next Monday is “half-price candy day”) and, I dunno, glow sticks? If you’re stuck in a basement, might as well make it a party.

Poor poochies. Their sense of smell is about a million times stronger than ours - they must hate that stuff. I can’t stand it myself; they must be miserable.

That being said, “smelling like a French whore on dollar day” (HA!) is my new favorite way to describe someone who’s marinated in their own perfume.
Lady, if I can smell you ten minutes after you’ve left, you’re wearing too much. And let’s not talk about hopeful teenage boys hosing themselves down with Axe Body Spray.

Okay, now seriously. W.T.F. do I wanna eat ferchrissakes?

Read much retained little, as per usual. But much love to all y’all.

I think I’ll finish the “kid helps in the kitchen” stool tomorrow. I made a prototype to see how not to build it and have come up with a suitable design. Most of the parts are cut, now just the matter of putting it all together and painting it. Their kitchen is all white and chrome, so I think I’ll try to match that.

shoe Imma gonna go for some s’ketti and meatballs. I gots sausage and leftover pizza sauce and some frozen french rolls. Snerk “garlic schnapps.”

flyboy Best o luck on the gas truck. I’m currently fighting a furnace that 3 times out of 10 doesn’t properly ignite. I’ve been in this place for 15 years and I don’t really know how old the furnace is, could become a costly thing in the near future.

boofae Careful in that snow!

It is official, I’m gonna have to mow the lawn this weekend, so yeah, snowing to mowing in a week.

I went with magic Internet pizza, with mega-cookie dessert.

Man, for a kitchen like that, I’d be tempted to do the “pop of color” thing, and paint each element of the stool a different primary color.

Or go monochromatic, and paint each element a different shade of a single particular color (pale blue, robin’s egg, cerulean, royal, etc.) for that Instagram look.

Akiko has a form of Lupus, which is what has caused her nose issues. She’ll be taking prednisone and tetracycline until the symptoms are under control, and then hopefully be able to switch to lower doses while the disease is in remission. Poor baby.

I like this idea. Maybe add letters or numbers on the sides, so you can disguise your intentions to introduce actual color to the kitchen. :smiling_imp:

Hmmm, you guys are giving me ideas. I kinda like the idea of incorporating some other colors, now that you’ve mentioned it.

My wife says that people on methadone smell like that. It was overpowering.

First day of packing went pretty well. I think they’ll easily finish it tomorrow. So we’re still on track (knock wood).

$258 later (108 gallons, I think), we have a tank of propane, and I’ve re-lit the furnace.

Hmmm, you guys are giving me ideas. I kinda like the idea of incorporating some other colors, now that you’ve mentioned it. It’s gonna be something like this.

flyboy Congrats of some heat!

If only I could keep SWMBO from turning up the thermostat!

Howdy Y’all! We went to get haircuts but there was a sign on the door that said cash only and since we did not have cash on us to pay for two haircuts, we didn’t. We have armed ourselves with the necessary cash just in case tomorrow is the same. In other news, we got stuff over to the church house and then had N.O,L. at the hog trough Golden Corral. In still other news, our current supply Priest got admitted to the horsepistol today. He was dehydrated and was admitted for fluids and a transfusion and is bein’ kept overnight for observation. We did Maundy Thursday minus Communion and all was well. I am hopin’ he decides to rest up tomorrow. We can do Good Friday service sans Priest, as well. He is in his early eighties and has health issues (duh!) so we want him to take it easy. Fun times!
