I remember as a child there was some program that had a character named (I think) Mr. Body who wore a body suit that had muscles on one side and internal organs on the other. He talked about fitness and proper nutrition. I thought it was Richard Simmons but imdb.com says it isn’t.
No, the site says that there are five actors playing “Slim Goodbody” all over the country. It’s just a character, like Ronald McDonald – who has also been played by different actors over the years. And no, he was never played by Richard Simmons – who would never look that good in a bodysuit! I think people are just confusing two similar people/characters.
I remember Slim Goodbody- he used to really freak me out. I would have to change the channel whenever he came on. He looked like he had been turned inside out. Am I crazy, or was he on PBS?
Right, I know that it wasn’t Richard Simmons–imdb said no. However I think that back in the Captain Kangaroo days (I thought that was where it was, but the imdb didn’t list that character so I figured I was wrong) I’m pretty sure it was just one guy.
Max Carnage, seeing as how the part has been played by several actors are you sure it wasn’t: Won’t the real Slim Goodbody please stand up
…please stand up
…please stand up
One of the Mr. Goodbodys did an assembly at my elementary school. I don’t remember much, except when he put on the “brain” cap and sang about how “If I didn’t have a brain/I wouldn’t know enough to come in out of the rain…”
I recall a few classes assembling to watch his show on the local community channel when I was in elementary school. Specifically, I remember that it was first class in the morning, and it was not a good thing to start off with while I was still tired and they dimmed the lights to show it.
I also recall having a odd fascination with how one man could be so bubbly, hyper, and annoying at once.
He still turns up on late night Alabama Public Television from time to time, when they run educational programming for teachers to tape and use. I know I saw him at least once in the last six months.
Still just as bubbly, hyper, and annoying as you remember him.
