I just saw a sneek preview of it last night, and as my friend Liz describes it: “It’s the best Adam Sandler movie. That’s not saying much.”
I’d describe it as: “Winona Rider has cleavage?”
Actually, it was pretty good. Adam Sandler takes a much different approach to his character: A nice, small town guy who’s genuinely caring and considerate, stuck in New York with a bunch of assholes. Aside from his tendancy to beat people maliciously, he’s a really good guy. And suprisingly, there isn’t a single trademark Adam Sandler baby talk tantrum in the whole thing. I was shocked.
Winona Rider and the rest of the cast were pretty much lame. Nothing special there, except for John Tuturro, who always does a great job whatever he’s in. His character was really likeable. It was a fun movie, definitely worth seeing for free, but if you’re looking for a good way to waste a lazy summer day, definitely check it out for a matine. But hey, what movie with a David Bowie sing along isn’t?
