This thread is a nice pile-on against someone who seems to be silly and harmless, with only just over 1000 posts and 91 threads started since 2013.
Now I’m not saying that folks shouldn’t be allowed to vent against posters who drive them crazy. But with all the truly hateful posters out there, it seems like there would be better targets. This whole thing seems to me petty and mean (in the sense of small-minded or ignoble).
Yes, I’m aware that he thinks that I’m a damned sinner who will spend eternity burning in hell. Like I said, silly and harmless.
I also realize that this could be considered thread-shitting, although I don’t know if that counts in the Pit. My only alternative to this post would be to start a thread pitting this thread, which seemed like pointless multiplication of threads. Or, of course, not to post. I chose the middle ground.

I never consider someone who claims that God actually told them things to be ‘silly and harmless’. People claiming such things have caused an unbelievable amount of damage to this world.
If people like him numbered in the dozens, or even hundreds, I’d cheerfully write him off as silly and harmless. People like him number in the millions, and they vote.

Some have; many are harmless cranks. Are you pitting him for causing damage to the world? Or are you pitting him because it’s easy to make fun of him?

I pit him because I’m disgusted with crazy people telling me what God thinks, because he told them. Which is coincidentally ALWAYS exactly what the person saying it thinks. And I notice that it is almost always negative, bigoted and judgemental.
If you actually hear the voice of God in your head, you are mentally ill.
In my experience of the world, the political damage is almost never done by religious nutjobs who hear voices, it is done by your pious and self-righteous next-door neighbor. But you’d rather spend your energy on this rather than something that actually helps.

What energy? I’ve written 3 posts in a message board thread. And they’re mostly in response to your holier-than-thou attitude, which is much more stupid and hilarious than anything Mr. Quatro has written.

Given the political and religiously motivated nonsense that’s been growing and festering in the US in recent years, I’m not sure that I would be so quick to assume that the sort of lunacy exemplified by the subject of this thread is necessarily “silly and harmless”.
But perhaps it is. I don’t know. But looking back at this thread I see that I’ve made a few contributions to it myself, and I feel obliged to defend them. ISTM that if you can excuse someone desperately intent on enlightening us with the messages he’s getting from his direct line to God as being “silly and harmless”, then surely a thread like this that provides a forum for a humorous take on the situation is at least equally silly and harmless, and probably more so if it’s entertaining. It’s not clear what criteria you’re applying to conclude that this is “petty and mean” that wouldn’t also apply to any other pitting of anyone, even if the pitting clearly had merit. Why should Mr Quatro’s rather extreme delusions get special immunity against criticism and parody?

I suppose because his contributions to this board have been so feeble and feckless. He’s made no attempt to propose or promote a political agenda, he just believes something that is nuts. I can understand the urge to point and laugh once at such a person. More than that seems out of balance and pathetic.
