MS IE Top toolbar not adjustable anymore -

I contracted a ferocious bit of viral malware called “wareout” the other day that all the usual anti spy and virus apps were useless against ( they ID’d it but couldn’t get rid of it). I battled it for a day or so and finally had to use the “Hijack This” startup registry adjustment tool to blow it out. In that process I apparently killed a registry line that allowed me to adjust my top toolbar. This is one of (for me) the most useful IE features in that I use the top “links” bar for most of my web navigation to the usual places.

All the top IE tool bars are now fixed in position and I can’t collapse, expand or move them around.

The “links” bar is no longer displayed across the top and is now in a collapsed format (if you click on the grayed out “Links” button at the top the web links will display in a vertical line) but the adjust-ability option to display it as an always present horizontal bar across the top is now grayed out.

Is there a way I can return adjust-ability to my IE bars?

FWIW found fix here!
