That looked like a free for all, not a parade. What did they imagine would happen when you have 40ft cabin cruisers sharing the water with small boats and overloaded pontoons. The big boats racing around throwing out huge wakes and the small boats get tossed around and any overloaded boat could capsize.
Add in lack of experience and it’s a situational fubar.

I despise wake boats and they’re privileged riders, they’ve nearly ruined the all sports lake I live on. Kayaking, fishing or rowing is impossible when those selfish bastards are about.
They weren’t in danger of drowning because of the water … they were in danger of drowing while in the water – big difference!

Here in Ft. Lauderdale a few weekends ago we had a controversy where a hundred+ boat Trump rally showed up in one of the large basins.
Despite existing mask mandates for boaters and group size limitations explicitly including people on boats, which substantially zero boats complied with, local law enforcement elected to simply hang out a quarter mile away and watch from a safe (for them) distance. There was no enforcement of life jacket or DWB laws either.
Not a good look for our local cops or the state Fish & Wildlife service.
I looked up this lake on the map and the Hippie Hollow Park is right there on the lake. Does our poster Hippy Hollow still live around there?

Just for giggles, I found an ‘article’ about this in one of the less sane corners of the internet and checked out the comments section. The narrative appears to be going like this.

One of my favorite bits of trivia is that, despite the fact that the defenders of the Alamo were supposedly fighting for the cause of liberty, the only two people who obtained freedom as a direct result of the battle were the slaves owned by Travis and Bowie. They survived and were liberated by the victorious Mexicans, who had abolished slavery (which was one of the causes of the Texan rebellion.)
