My ALIAS Theory...agree or not

I’ve had this theory about Alias since the first season, and my friend disagrees…so what do you think? I think Sloan is Sydney’s biological father. He has always shown a great deal of fatherly affection to her, Emily has treated her like a daughter, and Sloan and Irina seemed to imply a few weeks ago that Sloan had not always been a model husband, and that Irina was a part of that situation…Emily was really upset to find out she wasn’t dead! Then Sydney recovers a DNA database that Irina was trying to steal…could it contain evidence that Jack isn’t the bio-dad?

Too crazy? Am I seeing things that aren’t there?

It’s a possibility. It’s just as reasonable as many of the other plot twists the show has dragged us through.

I’ve thought the same thing for some time now. It was bolstered by the moment Irina and Sloan had in lat night’s episode when he was in the throes of despair and she was able to pull him back from the edge by putting her hand on his wrist (something the camera thought was very interesting).

Yep. The same thought has crossed my mind. There’s obviously something between Syd’s mother and Sloane. And what of her mother’s cryptic message to her via the amazing transmitter earrings? Something along the lines of “the truth will be revealed in time”.
And after the whole Rimbaldi immortality plotline and the fact that Syd’s best friend is actually an evil spy/hitwoman in disguise, the revelation that Sloane is actually Syd’s father would be a pretty tame plot twist!

Of course, if true, it would make Alias’s entire family dynamic a giant X-files ripoff, which would truly disappoint me as a fan of both shows.

That sort of thing is too overdone. I think the show definately wants us to come to that conclusion, and Sloane might even believe he’s Syd’s father, but I don’t think that’s how its gonna pan out.

I refuse to accept the possibility that Sloane is Syd’s father, simply because it would utterly destroy the relationship between Jack and Syd, which has grown and developed over the past two seasons. Why throw that away for the sake of a stupid plot twist?

And it really would be a stupid plot twist. “The villain is the hero’s real father” is such a boring cliche. Why can’t Sloane just feel fatherly towards Syd because he never had children of his own? Like his relationship with Emily, it’s one of the the things that makes him a complex, human character and not just a lame two-dimensional spy story cliche. Making him Syd’s real father would destroy that by giving him an in-story reason for having warm feelings towards Syd beyond just being a goddamn human being who’s proud of a woman he sees as a protege and surrogate daughter.

I don’t know about Sloane being Sydney’s father…but what about Sark and Sydney being half-siblings? Or what if Sark is Danny’s little brother with the heart problem? (Remember, Danny was a Brit.)

Now those are plot twists I would enjoy. If Syd’s father isn’t Jack, I’ll be very disappointed.
