My cat is a tomcat's bitch

I have been jokingly referring to our neutered, 2 year old cat as the local tomcat’s ‘bitch’. The tom comes around our house and the neighbour’s quite regularly, howling away. I jokingly said, he’s calling for Mango (our cameo coloured cat) again! Mango gets on well with most cats and is often playing with the neighbours kitten.
Then, yesterday, as my SO and I were engaged in some duvet thrashing, SO says, whilst looking out the window “hey, Mango’s being mounted by the tomcat” - I said, "yeah, right, ha ha ha. " But SO continued looking, so I turn around and looked out the window - losing all interest in what I was doing, I am horrified to see my cat just crouching there whilst the tom bites his neck and jumps him!
This horrible tomcat is taking advantage of our sweet, easy going cat - I may need counselling.

what is a cameo colored cat, do you mean a toiutusshell (sp)?

tortoiseshell.

Get your little kitty indoors and take the tom to the vet.

But, for God’s sake, finish what you’re doing first!

Mango is just assuming the weaker position on the hierarchy. Your real concern (speaking as someone who has owned many male cats) is that Mango may feel compelled to find his own territory elsewhere.

Another example of homosexuality in nature.

I’m not sure if that’s really homosexuality since I doubt the tomcat is attracted to Mango.

Incidentally, this reminds me of the SNL sketch with Kattan as Mango? All the male celebrities fall in love with him and try to sleep with him.

The parallels are striking.

I guess the  was necessary.

You and your ;)'s

No offense intended to you, Mel, but am I the only one thinking of Big Gay Al’s Big Gay Animal Sanctuary?

My male cats do this all the time, even though they’re both neutered- I think it’s about social dominance and territory, not really a sexual thing.

Riiiiiight, FisherQueen. And even if it is sexual, it’s just a phase.

Do I really need the smiley again?

All our animals are spayed and my female dog still humps a couple of our cats on a regular basis. The cats dont seem to mind and do a lot of purring followed by them grooming the dog.

I was told it was a dominance thing with the dog telling the cats their place in the pack.

wait a sec all tortoiseshells and calacos are female, except on rare occation when you get a XXY gene pairing, which is ‘sort of female’ AFAIK.

There’s no such thing as cat sex.

so where do kittens come from
>^…^<

They’re poured into a mold, or, for the more expensive kittens, extruded from a paste.

Add me to the :dubious: list. I was going to point out the very same thing, but kanicbird beat me to it.

Please confirm: You have a male calico cat (with three distinct coat colors)?

Here are some cat molds. I’ve tried this several times without success using custom molds in trying to get a real “cubic cat”, but even with the youngest kittens the bones aren’t quite pliable enough and in breakages occur and then sepsis sets in, and we have to start over. Possibly some breeds are more “pliable” than others.

Mango is a very pale ginger colour with white features - here that’s called a cameo. He is a neutered male and although I grew up with dogs humping each other - a dominance or excitment thing I believe, I have never seen our cats doing this to each other. It’s the fact that Mango may be the town bike, that is the most upsetting thing - there was no fight in him, he was just taking it as a natural course.
It’s okay, I managed to finish what I was doing eventually! but I’m looking at my cat in a different light now. He was particularly tired the other day and SO reckoned it was “from all that shagging”.
