My celebrity "aha!" moment of the day

Was listening to an interview on the radio this morning with Leah Remini (Carrie from King of Queens) when one of the djs mentioned he liked her work on Saved by the Bell.

:smack: She was the girl who’s father ran the country club and Zach had a fling with on the later episodes of the show.

I never made that connection before today.

You watched “Saved By The Bell”? Dude, that’s weak.

Where else but on an anonymous message board can we expose our guilty weaknesses

Saturday night I watched “Inside Man”, an excellent movie starring Denzel Washington which tells the story of a bank robbery in Midtown Manhattan.

Marcia Jean Kurtz played one of the hostages and I was wracking my brain trying to figure out where I had seen her before. Some swift internet skills (yeah IMDb) reminded she also played a hostage in “Dog Day Afternoon”, another movie about a bank robbery in Manhattan. She is thirty years older now, but damned if I didn’t remember that face. I guess that’s my Aha! moment.

FYI: Denzel’s character references the movie “Dog Day Afternoon” in “Inside Man”.

You shut your cakehole! Saved by the Bell was awesome!

We were visiting the in-laws this weekend, and my FIL was watching Stir Of Echos. When they showed one of the flashbacks with the dead girl, I was stunned – “Check it out”, I said, “That’s Sara from CSI”.

Later on my wife came in the room, and I said to her “Hey, remember the dead girl in Stir Of Echos? She’s played by Sara Sidle. Neat, huh?”

“No she’s not…that was Cameron from House.”

Huh…I’ll be damned…one point for my wife, zero for me.

Watching Saved By the Bell isn’t bad, it’s watching the season of SBTB that Leah Remini was in it. I mean, they were working on the beach anyway, why didn’t they have Screech jump a shark and be done with it?

My ‘aha’ was retroactive when I learned that the really hot ensign Westly got it on with in two episodes of Star Trek: TNG was…Ashley Judd!?

I saw an old episode of Charlie’s Angels recently in which there was an Angel I hadn’t ever seen or heard of before. I kept thinking that’s Midge (Tanya Roberts) from That 70’s Show! I mean, not only did it look like her but she had that squeaky voice too–only not so much back then. Turned out I was right! She became an Angel long after the show had jumped the shark and was in its death throes. That’s why I (and probably many others) hadn’t realized she’d ever been on it.

As Wil Wheaton put it, describing his on-screen kiss with her, “Uncle Willy went to booty town.”

I don’t know why, but I find that phrase absolutely hilarious.

I was looking up an old film that I liked a lot – My Bodyguard – and discovered the title character was played by Adam Baldwin (Jayne of Firefly)

I knew he was in that, but I was really surprised to see that he was the young, er… hero in that campy '80s flick, D.C. Cab.

Also, I moved this thread to Cafe Society.

I remember seeing To Sir With Love for the third or fourth time 2-3 years ago and realizing Patricia Routledge of *Keeping Up Appearances * fame was one of the teachers.

Just the one episode, I believe. With the alien video game and Robin’s Rules of Order or whatever the character called them.

In the early nineties there was a TV series based on the movie Working Girl. The Melanie Griffith role was played by a cute, funny brunette woman. Recently I was wondering what ever happened to that woman, so I looked up the show on TV.com, only to find that the cute, funny brunette was Sandra Bullock. And Nana Visitor, of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine was in it, too, as the bitchy boss lady.

Two episodes. The Game and Darmok.

ETA - To be fair to Otto though, Wesley only got it on with her in The Game.

I just watched the new, Masterpiece Theater version of Jane Eyre with Toby Stephens and found out that he is Maggie Smith’s son! Professor McGonagall is Mr. Rochester’s mom!

She was also on cheers. She was one of Carla’s daughters.

She can get my Anular confinment beam to 357 over standard anytime!

Mrs essell was watching Inuyasha and one of the voices was very very familiar. After a couple hours I placed it as the voice of ‘Fleet Intelligence’ In Homeword:Cataclysm.

I’m much better with voices than faces, probably because I always hear them in games, or their faces are covered in tones of alien makeup.

Watching the Matrix and about 3/4 of the way through, looking at Agent Smith and thinking, “OMG, MITZI!!!”
A lot like when I watched LA Confidential and about 3/4 of the way through, thought “OMG, FELICIA!!!”
Or watching Priscilla, Queen of the Desert and thinking “OMG, GENERAL ZOD!!”

My wife had one of these a couple of weeks ago–she realized the woman who plays Elliot in “Scrubs” was the same person who ‘took over’ as Roseanne’s older daughter when the first actress who played that role left the show.
