My Christianity

Why are you only concerned with how atheists argue? What about no “gripping” about atheists, internet gays, the gay lobby etc?

Well I was having a nice discussion with the OP about what parts of the Bible one should follow or not, and how pretty much all Christians cherry pick.

No, I can do both at the same time.

I’m surprised, I was hoping for your support in cooling things down here. You know the rules better than I do, flaming Christians is for the pit. And I do mean Christians, those are ad hominem attacks from Kable now. [wolfish grin] And we all know what that means in debate, right?

What was?

Yeah … pretty much all Christians … I have to agree with your there. Just hunt around for the church that suits your lifestyle and put a mess of money on the plate … all is forgiven.

Uncalled for IMEIO.

And again I ask why you are only concerned with how the atheists debate. Are you of the opinion that civility should be a one-way street?

What are you?

Nothing in any of my posts in this thread belongs in The BBQ Pit. You claimed that the atheists were fighting the Christians, and I remarked that that the atheists were fighting back. What makes your statement acceptable in this forum, and mine not?

Helpful suggestions are uncalled for?

Not really-if what you two want is a private conversation where you get to set the rules beyond what this forum already sets forth private messages would certainly be the way to go, in my opinion.

Um… You’ve got some problems here in making unwarranted assumptions about other people.

Feel free to correct my assumption.

Are you fighting my agreement? Very strange Czarcasm. An atheist is someone who is against religion … a - theist. Agnostic is not caring one way or the other. Maybe we got our definitions mixed up?

There’s the problem: I don’t go to church, but the church comes to me, forcing blue laws on me, even though I am not a subscriber to their faith. The blue laws are not “civilization’s” laws, but “church” laws.

If you must pass blue laws, at least add a codicil explaining that they only apply to Christians, not to those who aren’t. “Stores have to close on Sunday…if the owner is a Christian. Otherwise, buying and selling on Sunday is perfectly okay.”

I don’t go to church, and I don’t want the church coming after me either.

No, an atheist just does not believe in gods. An anti-theist is against religion.

An agnostic doesn’t know, he may care.

You got yours mixed up.

I am not a Christian.

If you are not searching, why are you asking?

Not exactly. An atheist is one who is without religion. The “a-” means “Not having.” Someone with no brain would be acerebral. Someone without speech is aphasic, and so on.

Of course, there are lots and lots of different kinds of atheists. Many atheists are against religion. But many are not. The latter kind are entirely willing to let other people have their religion. They just don’t share in the beliefs and assumptions, and see no need to participate in the rituals.

Are you an atheist too then?
