My Cup Runneth Over - A Stanley Cup MMP

Thanks, peedin! I hadn’t gotten around to looking for that show anywhere else yet.

The first time I ever watched Night Court it was because Michael J. Fox was guest-starring on an episode, and I had a huge crush on him. I quickly also developed a crush on Harry Anderson…and, later, one on John Larroquette.

The dog killed a mouse today. I knew there were chipmunks under the patio, but apparently there are also some really small mice: one of them stupidly ran from under the patio while Bailey was outside, and she grabbed at it with her mouth. I got her to drop it immediately, but I think she scared it to death. At first it moved a little, and I was hoping it was just playing dead, but soon enough it was clearly actually dead. I scooped up the corpse in an old box that was in the outdoor trash, and moved it to a part of the yard Bailey can’t get to while she’s on-leash. One of the neighborhood cats or foxes or other critters will find it eventually.

A couple hours ago I decided to switch from watching miscellaneous TV shows to watching the Nationals game. I was in the mood for background entertainment; something to have on while I napped and/or read blogs and news apps on my iPad. Normally I use HGTV for that, but I don’t care for the show they’re marathoning this afternoon. Baseball will definitely do. We’re currently losing to Miami in the bottom of the 7th, though…meh.

Oooo, I like his stuff! The objects more than the serigraphs.

(And the pictures more than the prices. )

Flyboy Will the trash and recycling be picked up tomorrow? And if not, is that a problem?

The back is feeling better enough to do the ribs today. A little later than anticipated, but they should be done by 8.

Happy Dependence Day! I figure since we have Mumpers in Jolly Old England, we should celebrate the days when most of us here in the colonies considered ourselves British. Pass the Pimm’s, would you please?

I had an ocular migraine this morning, but it’s mostly passed now. I walked to the grocery store. At the carts area just outside the entrance, an old guy shouted at an elderly woman who was inadvertently in his way, “I’M GOING THERE!” Then he started banging carts around and yelling, “#@!*% WOMEN! CAN'T LINE UP THE #@!*% CARTS! I’M A OLD MAN, BUT I CAN STILL DO IT!” I wanted to say, “Still do what? Act like an idiot?” but I restrained myself, it being Sunday and him being unhinged and all. I needed vitamin D, and yippee, it was buy one, get one free!

FCM, when you’ve bought a new wedding ring, does FCD put it on for you, or is that too mushy? Thanks for posting the photo of the Chinese Lantern plants. I’ve always thought they were cool but didn’t know what they were called.

MetalMouse, that water bill is outrageous. Something is definitely wrong. I hope you get satisfaction on Tuesday. Remember, the Army of Mump is behind you!

shoe, I’m sorry it’s been so hot there. I’m also not a fan of summer. Heat is hard on me. Thank heavens for Coolio! He may be cold and blow you off, but he’s loyal and a hard worker. (P.S. Woman doth not live by Popsicle alone. Please. Eat some yogurt or something with some nutrients in it.)

Sari, how was your mom when you got there? Also, can she handle milkshakes? When my late, great MIL was very ill and couldn’t eat, I mixed Ensure into a homemade milkshake (She hated Ensure on its own.), and she was able to sip at that.

Nice house-to-be, Wheelz! It looks spacious.

I love that Gordie is gender-fluid, depending on the weather. How old was he when you got him? He wasn’t a rescue from Texas, was he? My son and DIL’s middle dog is a rescue from Texas, and when it rains, she balks like she just got a paw-dicure and can’t get her nails wet.

First day in Basic Electricity and Electronics - take off all metal, jewelry and even dogtags. I learned fear of trons in 1973 and it continues to today!

Nah. In fact, we didn’t even have rings when we eloped - we bought them a few months later. Don’t sweat the small stuff, yanno? BTW, he’s also on his 3rd ring. One got lost, one was damaged by welding slag, and he’s now wearing my paternal grandfather’s ring.

We’re home. We got the blowers installed and running. When we pulled out the breaker for the blower that had failed, it was partly melted, too! Honestly, I don’t know how they didn’t have a fire! Anyway, once we got the blowers working, we tried to start the engine. Nope. So we decided that was enough fun for one day, and tomorrow we’ll check all the wiring in the engine room to make sure we didn’t knock any connections loose while we were fumbling around in there.

We stopped at Food Lion on the way home and got some corn which I’m going to steam shortly - that’ll be supper. Chillage shall reign for the rest of the day.

I love it that he keeps replacing that ring because he believes in wearing it. Not long after we got married, my now-ex took off his ring for good. He said it made his finger itch. It was gold. He was not allergic to gold, just monogamy.

My post wasn’t clear Nellie
I am going tomorrow.

My son is already grumbling.
I think he liked it before Niece2 and family moved in. It was a lot less cluttered and a lot quieter.

I’ve thought about taking her a milkshake, but I think she doesn’t like them. There’s a Gino’s near her and they make real milkshakes, I’ll see if she wants one. They also make Ameche Burgers and she used to like them.
I took out a bag of shrimp to thaw since I bought too much stuff to fit in the freezer. I might do something with that, if she is still on a seafood kick.

Moooooom, my mom wasn’t able to remove her wedding band for a lot of years because of arthritis. Dad always (and still does) carried his on his key ring for safety issues (he was a machinist, then a machine repairman, so getting a ring caught could result in the loss of a finger).

cookie, sorry to hear about the moving losses. My granddad used to tell me that three moved are as good as a fire to wipe you out. That was an exaggeration, but I have very few things that I began housekeeping with.

metal mouse, what is the billing cycle for your water? I know my electric bill cycle is from the 15th to the 14th, but they send the bill out shortly after and it’s due on the fourth.

I made some headway on this segment of the organization project today. I should have most of it done before I go back to irk Wednesday. My goal is to have everything catalogued by the time that I retire, then make a database.

I pan grilled some pork tenderloin medallions, steamed sweet corn and sliced tomatoes for Sunday dinner. Even Nelson got a few bites of tenderloin.

They’ve always picked it up on Monday holidays. The only times they didn’t was after heavy snowstorms.

Sari, too bad you can’t take this guy with you to the dog park. He’d have Barky quiet in no time!

Afternoon all. An hour’s stationary biking + long hot bath = nappage. Just as well, it’s 97F outside so really don’t want to be outside.

Thanks for the concern re: water bill. Have printed out my last 4 years of billing from their archives so I can show them how crazy it is. Also will take the plumbers’ stuff. I will also mention that they had crews around here several months ago and almost everybody’s yard got dug in and worked on…except mine. So expect some action one way or another.

red, they usually read it around 23rd-28th of the month and I get the notice around the 4th-5th of next month.

FCM, one of these days all the parts on the boat will work perfectly…probably for one day…

Seanette, may have to look that up. Night Court was my second-favorite show ever (MASH was first) and loved all the characters.

Wheelie, nice pic, hope everything progresses well.

Sari, nothing like more drama at the dog park…it’ll be a new series shortly on some TV station…

OK, will try to drop a note before it gets to late tonight, but all y’all take care.

Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated and then had a hyuuuuuuuuuuge Sunday brunch, so much so, that neither of us wants to eat anything else today. Imagine that! Large nappage also occurred and sloth ensues. Looks like we will get rain soon. Hope it’s a big tboomer so we can sit on the back porch and watch whilst quaffin’ an adult beverage. We heard some fireworks last night but not a whole lot. Maybe we’ll have a lot of evenin’ rain so folks can’t be out to shoot stuff off.

Cookie sorry about the stuff that got broken. Sometimes movers do not do smart things.

MetalMouse sic the water folks! Obviously they are not doin’ sump’n right. We have JtC and the PSWSLNS for backup if needed.

shoe the tattoo is very nice. I approved of it over on the book of faces.

Wheelie house does look like it’s comin’ right along!

Nettie I love Night Court too. I think it’s my favorite sitcom ever.

VanGo yay for gettin’ your ribs grilled. For me, ribs are a definite must have on the Fourth.

Ok, the litter box has been dumped and refilled, and I’ve tackled most of the month-long “depression nest” before the 'rents show up in a day or two. Bin is at curb in the optimistic notion that perhaps they’ll pick up tomorrow … or possibly day after.

Thanks for the kind words, Mumpers. I’m over the moon with how my ink looks (sorry tech isn’t letting me share here) and am leaning towards showing it off to the parental units and letting them just be all mad.

Already heard the first cannon fire of the night. Yay.

shoe I’m 50+ now, I got my one and only tat 20 years ago. My folks didn’t like it, but the opinion was “it’s your arm.” As the reaction should be.

Still wanna see pics…

Howdy everyone. Bout to die of excessive heat. Man it’s hot.

My squash and zucchini got et up by snails. Overnight they destroyed the plants. I put out snail and slug bait this evening and picked the ones I could find. Bastards. If I can get them under control I will have time to replant. Just made a batch of salsa tonight using my homegrown peppers. Not as hot as I’d like but good and fresh. I planted some bare root day lilies and some gladiolus bulbs. One bulb is sprouting and the lilies look good. I also planted some caladium bulbs. I still have over 100 bulbs to plant but I can only tolerate that heat for short periods of time. I put about 15 small plants in the newest bed and so far they are doing good. A couple are Hosta and I really really like them. I ordered a few more varieties.

Ceiling repair is going good. Hopefully the worst of it will be done by tomorrow afternoon and I can start the gargantuan task of scrubbing the floors a few times. The painting won’t make a mess like the removal and texture have. Had I known what a messy job it was I may not have taken it on. It will look nice when finished.

I hear a few booms happening but so far not too bad. I was hoping it would rain tonight. Neither my dog nor cat are happy about the fireworks. It’s such a silly waste of money IMO.

Stay safe and healthy everyone.

Dinner tonight was ⅓-pound cheeseburgers grilled on the barbie, on real buns (which were buttered and toasted under the broiler), with lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise, and stone-ground Dijon mustard. Oh, and Reser’s Deviled Egg Potato Salad.

shoe, I’m coming upon 60 years old and the only reason that either of my folks ever knew that I had a tat (got it 20+ years ago) was because my mom walked in on me dressing and saw it. It’s in a place that shows only with one swimsuit, so if you see it, it’s usually because I want you to. The folks can deal with your tat, which, BTW, is pretty.

butters, snails in your garden suck. I hope that your second planting survives.

The neighbor kids across the fence are setting off firecrackers. Nelson is getting agitated, so I’m cuddling him. Poor baby. I’m almost halfway done with this step of the project. Yay!

So far it’s been a quiet weekend, fireworkswise. A few EMS runs from the station up the street. I’ve got the poke loin in the oven(seasoned with Bo Seasoning), and am having a Vieux Carré.

That sucks.

:open_mouth: I barely own $2500 worth of stuff

Yay!

Thank you.

9 months old. And he’s a local boy(I can’t imagine anybody shipping a then 30lbs JRT puppy cross country)

: drools :

And outside of a quick run to Wal-Mart for a couple of glasses/dishes I just decided I needed and getting a giant (2 meal) sub from Jersey Mike’s since I don’t know what their hours will be tomorrow, my day is complete as I listen to the occasional booms from the fireworks aficionados.

Catch all y’all tomorrow on the next MMP.

It made something itch, just not his finger.
