My Cup Runneth Over - A Stanley Cup MMP

I’m not sure that’s true. Reaction severity has always varied. Vaccinations and treatments have greatly improved the hospitalization and death rates, but COVID is definitely still killing people.

Sorry it’s up a little! Yeah, his meds may get tweaked (especially with the high fasting glucose).

I didn’t walk yesterday. I walked Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (11 miles total), not to mention the hours of woodchopping Monday the 20th. I felt a bit worn out on my Saturday walk, so I decided I’d take a day off. A day. Not two days. So I’ll have to get out after irk (in about an hour). And it’s 80º outside. Oy.

Well, I get to try out the new fixture in the shower!

Holy frick! Since I posted yesterday, there’ve been a boatload of posts. I love how active everyone is.

I walked to the hospital to get the annual tortilla press (aka mammogram) experience done. Then I walked to the gym and worked out before walking home in the heat. I burned over 1,000 calories today.

I’m happy to report the portable AC seems to be working. It’s a little noisy when the condenser kicks on, but it’s rated as one of the quietest on the market, so I just have to get used to it. The heat wave is supposed to break tonight.

shoe, I know it must be hard to set firm boundaries with your parents, and I’m sorry they’re coming at such a tough time. Any chance Gentleman Caller could get you out of there from time to time with some excuse like, “We’ve had this planned for months”? Or maybe you could claim you have an annual checkup in order to get away. They stay at a hotel, right? How long will they be in town?

I’m mystified. Barbie’s biohazard boyfriend showed you and Debbie Harry a secret passageway behind Smalls??

Boo, cool do, you.

flyboy, sorry for the pricey plumbing issue. Hope this is the last one for a long time.

sunny, hope your hubs sees the light and gets to a doc. It sounds very frustrating.

JtC, sorry about hub’s cellulitis. I hear that’s no fun at all. Did he get the pneumonia shot while he was out?

nettie, hope you aren’t forced to go to a laundromat. Such a hassle.

:rofl::rofl: :rofl:

metal mouse, holler when you come up to see Nashville Soccer Club play and I’ll pop for a sit down Fat Mo’s.

doggio, Gordie has the same attitude on the laundering of his sleeping towels as Nelson does Rocky Raccoon. Skritches.

I’m sorry about Tony JtC. Even when you expect it, it’s tough. Glad your hubby’s feeling a bit better.

seanette, I’ve found that a good high fat ice cream without mix ins is one of the easier desserts on my BG done in moderation. YMMV.

VanGo, carpet tacks and nails will absolutely chew up planer blades (or belts if it’s an abrasive). Be they don’t kick a board up in your face.

Speaking of planers, have you considered renting a small U-Haul to take the equipment across the grass and up the hill Moooooom? You could roll both out to the truck on level ground with a very small grade on the ramp, secure them well, and drive them up the hill, and reverse.

Feel better soonest bullitt.

Today was the Monday from hell. Tech issues all day and a case of the squits that came ][ this far from sending me home for a change of clothes. A headache followed this afternoon, but that was quickly put down with a tylenol. If my belly felt better, I’d have a cocktail.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Today, my mother had a doctor’s appointment with her PCP to get him to sign off on her weight loss surgery. He wouldn’t do it because he needs test results from her cardiologist, which we have an appointment with next month. Ironically, the PCP is the head of cardiology at his hospital, but the weight-loss surgery people were insistent that we go to a PCP and a cardiologist separately. FFS.

Today, three or so weeks after my landlady’s grandson’s 18th birthday, we were finally able to have the birthday dinner he’d requested. (Our landlady had surgery in another state the day before his birthday, and hasn’t been physically capable of pulling off such a big meal, and her grandson only lives with us part of the time.) Dinner was stuffed shells, twice-baked potatoes, and grandson’s favorite, green bean casserole. Dessert will be ice cream cake.

Howdy Y’all! We have spent the day in sloth, quality cee-mint pond time, nappage and general overall uselessness as is our wont. OYKW did his doc appt. and we et Mexican as a late N.O,L./early sup as the daily major activity. Oh and da cave is all spiffed and cleaned. Payin’ somebody to do that has been a smart move on our part. She does an incredible job! Thus it is today in swampland.

BBBoo lovin’ the new do! You wear it better than Cousin Itt.

Pulley glad the medical issue is sorted out. Have fun in the continued trek around the country.

Oopsie glad the tummy trouble is all sorted out.

doggio is the place settin’ china, silver, and crystal? Cause that would be worth the effort.

Bumba does the cup have a lid so it can be like a sippy cup. That would make the most sense. Also, score on the leftovers! Glad the reunion was fun.

Sonny hope hubby’s toe is better soonest.

Wheelie glad the trip was so much fun. Travel is good but it is always soooooo nice to get back to one’s own comfy home.

flipper nice to “see” ya. Do check in from time to time.

Flyboy yikes on the plumbin’ bill but glad it’s all fixed.

BooFae sorry that it was not as fancy as it was supposed to be, but sounds like you had a good time.

Early evening here, will be fixing myself a Big Bowl O’Salad here in a short bit. Been following the Amtrak crash in Missouri, as I noted on the thread devoted to it, I watch a lot of Virtual Railfan on You Tube and see the Southwest Chief several times a week at various stations. Sad that people apparently died and mad that so many folks don’t take precautions with trains as seriously as they should.

Almost got to a mile a minute on my backstroke, it was 60:37 for 1,760 yards, so I’m closing in.

flipper, I know the Doc wants to be careful with your mom, but geez… And happy B-day to the grandson.

nellie, glad the A/C is working and so are you (1,000 calories is a lot, more than I usually do when exercising).

shoe, I really don’t know what to say, I never do in situations like that, hope it all works out (and hope other MMP’ers can do better than I).

boo fae, Yea! on getting the paperwork and hope the students were too obnoxious (I know better than to say that none of them were obnoxious).

On, do need to put on some attire and go check on the mail, then dinner time. All y’all take care.

PS–our 4th of July fireworks are scheduled for 2 July…anyone else getting early booms?

Hello everyone!! So flipping hot. Not been doing much of anything except trying to stay cool. Did build another flower bed. It’s 3 ft X 30 ft. I have a bunch of bulbs to plant and some flower seeds and more plants due this week. I don’t think I’ll have enough room. This one is in the ground and in the only shady part of the yard.

Read all. Hugs to all that need them.

Forgot to mention I am having Sonny boy and his girl remove my popcorn ceilings. They are about half done. Talk about a messy job. It’ll take forever to clean the floors when it’s done.

We have a truck and a trailer. But we absolutely don’t need the ruts in the yard, and that’s what we’d get unless we wait for a drought. Two years ago, we paid a lot of money to have the ruts filled in and graded - don’t wanna do that again.

Supper ended up being grilled cheese (again) because neither of us was really hungry. Now I want ice cream, but we don’t have any. Oh well…

Me, reading the newspaper: Gee, so a guy assaulted and tried to kidnap a woman. I wonder where in town…oh, sh-t.

Yes, it was less than a block from where I live. She was walking home from her work shift. (The buses here don’t run past 7:30.) Luckily she was able to hit back and got away.

Very impressive! (I think you meant a mile in an hour, right?)

I feel the best if I burn off that much. I don’t know why. On Sundays I only walk 2-3 miles because an athletic coach I know says I should rest one day a week, and this is my compromise, but I get restless and don’t sleep as well. My body makes its own weird rules.

Welcome home, wheels!

Butters, always glad when you pop in. I helped a friend scrape her popcorn ceilings. It sure is a messy job. Hope they’re done soon!

Yep. If I could swim a mile a minute I’d be auditioning for Aquaman…

Based on previous comments about your swimming speed, are you sure you don’t mean a mile an hour? Seems like 60mph would be awfully fast for unpowered human motion.

Maintenance got the washer drain unclogged, multiple loads have been run with no leakage. One guy left a hand tool behind, but quickly showed up at the door to reclaim it. The cats were not as helpful with a nap as they usually are. Lots of yoyo-ing back and forth between rooms.

Had mushroom Swiss bacon cheeseburger for burger night.

It holds 14 12 ounce beers, so it’s a team effort.

Silver, of course.

I feel personally attacked.

You, too!

That’s Ken who works in Hazmat, as opposed to Supervisor Ken. Deb is blonde, and yeah, technically there is a secret passage behind Smalls.

Flipper, hope Mom’s appointment goes well.

Sunny, hope Hub’s toe igets better.

{{{{[b]Butters[/n]}}}} back at ya

Aww, shucks swampy

Scary thing is I sent the same pic to the bride and groom and they love the idea of me coming to the wedding as Cousin Itt. I may actually have to do it.

Small wedding, only the groom’s close relatives and a few friends, so an Addams Family theme might actually be memorable and light-hearted enough for them. I’ve got to go look for images of Cousin Itt to see if I can cobble together a suitable Itt mother-of-the-groom ensemble. Floaty chiffon and sequins might not work.

Cousin Itt has three arms and doesn’t wear turtleneck sweaters. He wears round glasses (take that Harry Potter) and I remember something about a rolled brim hat.

That’s the extent of my memories about a show I loved back when I was a kid. Like you said, brain like an old beat up sieve.

I don’t remember ever seeing Cousin Itt’s arms, so have no idea how many he might possess.

Morticia was knitting a sweater and Gomez picked up one of the three arms and frowned. When Morticia asked what was wrong, Gomez said “I didn’t know Cousin Itt wore turtlenecks.”

Strange the things that stick with us forever. Now ask me what we had for dinner yesterday.

OMG! GG was walking into my stitching room when lightning struck right overhead. Every hair on his body stuck straight out on end and he launched himself 5 feet in the air.

Poor lil idiot doesn’t remember last year’s nonsoon but there was one thunderstorm that scared him as well.

And now he pooped in the robot because the other box is in the catio.

Catch you all tomorrow.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.
