My Facebook account was hacked - how to restore?

So somebody got into my Facebook account and changed my email address and phone number. Now I cannot log in or secure my account, and every time I ask for a password change or reset the info goes to the hackers address.

I am at my wits end with Facebook, they are no help. Anybody know another way?

Thanks gnoitall I’ve tried that. I send a photo of my license, but never receive the recovery code. I think they are sending the code to the hacker.

Bump? I’m still locked out of my FB account and still continually frustrated with FB “customer support”.

Have you tried this approach? I don’t know if it too will assume the email is still correct.

Recover your Facebook account from a friend’s or family member’s account

  1. From a computer, go to the profile of the account you’d like to recover.
  2. Click the … symbol below the cover photo.
  3. Select Find support or report profile .
  4. Choose Something Else , then click Next.
  5. Click Recover this account and follow the steps.

It also has a section at the bottom with steps to take if your account has been hacked and the email has been changed.

Beyond that there is really not much we can do here besides empathize with the frustrations of dealing with the low quality of customer support one receives when using a free service.

Thanks Naita. I will try that from my partners account. And yes, customer service from a “free” application is non-existent.

But I don’t think of FB as free. The user IS the product.

Update. Not only was my email address and phone number changed to lock me out, now my entire account has been wiped. My page doesn’t exist, I am no longer a member of the groups I was in, my wife is married to blank, and I am not even tagged in other peoples pics anymore.

I have become a Facebook Non Person.

I hardly ever actually use FB so when I tried a couple weeks ago I was told my account had been blocked in December, due to suspicious activity. I had a friend who is computer savvy who helped navigate getting it back in working order, otherwise I’d still be without it.
