My black, thick sole doc martens and my beat up nikes are all I ever need.
Ooh, yeah! I’ve got a pair of Bleyers too; light tan & medium brown, with suede soles. Nothing better for dancing.
mmmmmm…shoes…Anyways, for cooler weather, gotta have the Buckle Shoes – currently navy blue Rieker t-straps, formerly brown Clarks t-straps, and someday if I ever find them again, Ecco t-straps. Warmer weather means those little cloth Chinese mary-jane looking shoes in assorted colors and patterns.
Oh, and no shoes in the house. Just barefoot or socks (which have monkeys and bananas on them today).
Nymysys has indeed converted me. I love my Fluevogs. I will get more. I love the Flames. I would like to know more makers of FUNKY shoes like these.
Do my Fluevog fire-engine red platform cowboy boots count? [=gender:women"]I’m an urban cowgirl](http://www.fluevog.com/code/?session=118504-HEJjbLZY2uAquWcSN3M9Jh79V5iTg0Em&page=24&listpage=4&view=zoom&colourID=63&w[0).
For the gym and for just walking around, I wear New Balance. I’ve got wide feet and New Balance fit them well. Plus, New Balance shoes seem to hold up well.
For when I’m dressing up, Rockports. We’ve got a Rockport factory outlet store nearby, and once a year they have a 40% off sale. I usually go over and grab a couple pairs
when they do.
But I spend most of my time in my government issued work boots. Actually kind of comfortable.
Currently getting around in a pair of Salomon X-Hikers with holes at the outside toe bumper. I am almost always in hikers, because I need the support. I prefer top-grain leather with a lug heel. Specifically I like Merrills, Asolos, Vasque, Teknica, Raichle. I’m not picky: I just like top quality shoes.
I really love my Merrell Jungle Mocs, but after wearing them nonstop for a few months a disturbing “smell” started developing. Now, no matter what I do, my feet react to the shoes with an alarmingly pungency. Even after washing the shoes, washing my feet with antibacterial soap, wearing clean socks, spraying the shoes and my feet with anti-odor, anti-perspirant stuff. This doesn’t happen with my other shoes… just the Merrells.
I also like Nike’s water sandal. I bought them because they were the only sandal in my size and I needed sandals badly, and ended up doing the Avon Breast Cancer 3Day Walk wearing only the sandals. They are excellent.
Hi, Office Girl:
These are the suede ones with the tweaky-looking treads – multiple rubber blocks/nipples – and the little elastic panels on the sides? Got those too. My dressy casual shoe. I haven’t had the stinky thing happen, or maybe I just don’t know because I have a poor sense of smell. Too bad, they’re great-looking and comfortable, too.
Chrome
Those are the ones, Chrome Spot. My ex-fiance had the same pair (80% of our attire was the same) and he had the same problem, though not nearly to the extent of mine. I can go months without wearing them, and no stinkiness, and then put them on for 5 minutes and can clear a room with the ensuing smell. Yaharg.
My footwear of choice is Dr Martens 8-hole Kendal boots, in shiny black leather. I have three identical pairs - an old, tatty pair for when I’m crawling around in muck, another pair for work, and a spotless new pair for when I go out. Nothing else ever gets anywhere near my feet.
My co-workers often say that wearing DMs with trousers, shirt and tie is eccentric, but I don’t care. They’re the most comfortable boots on earth, and hell, I just think they look great with the yellow welting. I’ve got my eye on a pair of 14- or 18-hole DMs next, so I think I may get some as a Christmas present to myself soon.
My Vasque hiking boots.
I forget what the model of the boots is called. I’ve had these boots for at least 4 year. They’ve been through hell (or at least an awful lot of hiking and hard work in a few different places) and now look like they’ve been eaten and regurgitated by particularly rapacious puppies. But they’re wonderfully comfortable.
They’ve got terrific, supportive insoles and very good padding throughout the shoe. (I have bunions that make it very hard for me to find shoes that fit and are comfortable. And I refuse to have to stick felt things on my feet every time I have to wear shoes.) They have a nifty Gore-Tex waterproof lining that worked for many years. (There are holes busted in it now.) My hiking boots were even attractive for quite a while, before I worked the bejeezus out of them.
When I get my next paycheck (that’ll be around Nov. 30. I get paid only once a month–ecch!), I’ll go out and get a new pair. People sometimes make fun of me for wearing this same pair of shoes all the time, but I really don’t care. I pick another pair for more formal occasions, and for those rare times that I go dancing. Otherwise, it’s into my ancient, comfy hiking boots my feet go.
I’m a 6.5 wide (Women’s sizing), AND have a high arch, but not a fat heel.
Sneakers: New Balance.
Work shoes: Hafflinger LS-14 (they call them leather sandals, but they’re more like adjustable clogs). Wonderful! Expensive ($80?) but worth it. Would look pretty dorky with dresses, I think (not as bad as Birkenstocks), but I don’t wear dresses. Only available in suede, I think – wish they made 'em in regular leather. But wonderful shoes.

p.s. I wish that shoe makers provided what they used to: wide shoes with a narrow heel. Oh, well. I know that when I was a kid, my Buster Browns were a (for example) 2C/A.
just look at the username:)
I have a pair of Oakley high-tops that I wear almost every day and are SO comfy. I can’t imagine wearing any other kind of sneaker type shoes besides these. I kinda like my Oakley sunglasses too
whoa! this thread is still up?
wow.
