Just checkin’ to see if anyone here wants to buy building supplies. Lots of nails, 2 x 4s, and hammers all around, good stuff for cheap!
Yeah, right. The typical conservative’s response when he gets into a jam is to either (1) buy his way out of trouble, (2) sling venom at his opponent, (3) get Daddy to pull some strings and save his ass, or (4) all of the above.
rjung- Whenever you get the chance you might want to remove those 2 x 4s and assorted tools from your ass, along with your head if you can stand it. Congratulations on being the first piece of shit fuckwad to turn this thread into yet another inane Liberal vs. Conservative slapfest instead of what it was intended to be.
Perhaps I should just throw this one in here, just to get it going again: “Tell me again why december was banned but rjung isn’t”
This is a closed club, so I’m not sure if I’m allowed in here (where is the doorman?), but I would go with the: let it slide thing. No use crying over spilled milk. And no need to tear a good messageboard to shreds over this. Also I would be unhappy to lose your posts Sam. Anyway December is probably basking in Conservative heaven, or wherever it is conservative posters go when they’re banned.
Perhaps we could have an all banned day. One day a year when all banned posters gets to rise from their excommunication and post again.
Thank you, Shodan. You have just managed to insult my Christianity before breakfast. Since I’m a single, devout Christian who lives alone, that doesn’t happen very often. I believe divorce is immoral, let alone promiscuity. I also see your whine as a directly and deliberately disobeying Christ, not the author of Leviticus or Paul. I’ve got news for you, lad. Christ was a flaming liberal who contended with conservative religious authorities and shocked them by His habit of treating sinners with respect. I respect your right to disagree with me, but I will not stand for the implication that I am less of a Christian because I disagree with you.
Scylla, thank you, this time in a positive sense. I have a strong streak of conservatism in me, but it’s the behaviour of people like december which make conservatism pretty unappealing to me. If I have to accept the premise that Clinton is the Anti-Christ in order to become a conservative, I’ll stay out, just as I’ll duck the liberal level if I have to accept the idea that our current president is the Anti-Christ.
From the part of the fence I straddle, the Libertarians just keep looking better.
Many in this thread will be pleased to learn further light has been shed on this important matter this morning by no less than that arch conservative and wank rag of all tin foil toppers everywhere, Silvio Berlusconi
According to Mr Berlusconi - and who are we to argue with a man who now controls an entire 55 million fully capitalist country – judges are “anthropologically different” to others.
This is new and interesting information. Yet it does no more than underscore the implied message of Scylla’s equally important OP, one we may now see as a clever coded warning to all us non-Moderator or Admin members.
Did Scylla have advanced waning of this announcement or is he so in the vanguard of conservative thinking that even Mr Berlusconi follows in his wake ?
I suggest the evidence is clear; we should all afford Scylla the status and attention he so richly craves, consider the anthropologic case as made against our very own ‘judges’ and, in consequence, have the Chicago Reader staff check them for signs of missing links (and we ain’t talking Internet links).
"Those judges are doubly mad! In the first place, because they are politically mad, and in the second place because they are mad anyway. “If they do that job it is because they are anthropologically different from the rest of the human race.”
London separate-eyebrows Calling
You’re welcome, I guess, but just what exactly are you talking about?
Good for you. Perhaps you could cite where I mentioned either divorce, or promiscuity.
And where exactly did Christ say, “Thou shalt not express thy opinion on the banning of a long-time SDMB member”?
And I respect your right to disagree with me, but nowhere did I state or imply that you were less of a Christian because you disagreed with me.
This is pretty much what I was talking about. Simply stating that I and some gay posters disagree causes some of the lefties here to have a fit of the hysterics and start making accusations. Again.
I have no desire to hijack the thread into another case where you argue in increasingly louder tones that thinking that Scripture means what it unambiguously says is “just my interpretation”, whereas your idea that it really means exactly the opposite of what it says is iron-clad truth from On High. And I generally find the idea that Jesus is a Republican to be just as inaccurate as your bald statement that He is a liberal.
What I said was, that expressing even the tiniest doubt about the gay agenda sought by many gay activists causes some Dopers to go ballistic. And bang! As night follows day, your post follows mine.
I did not state, nor did I imply, nor do I believe that your opinions make you any less a Christian than I. My opinions on the accuracy or otherwise of your political and social beliefs are of no relevance whatever to the status of your relationship with the Lord.
So chill.
And to the rest - if you think statements like “I can live with that” constitute whining on my part, you obviously never heard me whine. Or maybe you never read anyone else whine when, for instance, Collounsbury got banned again. Cripes, that thread went on for pages, and I posted there about as much as I did in the december banning thread.
So think about it. Is “he added so much to the boards, and he only flamed people who deserved it” whining? How about “hey, he got banned - too bad” ?
Besides, Scylla started it. It’s no fair! He hit me back first! I’m telling! Mom!
This remark unintentionally reveals a lot about the right wing of American politics. “I am unable to convince you, by rational argument, that my view is correct. Therefore, I will simply buy some politicians.”
Dude. YOU said it was what you were going to do if december got banned for his political views. Leander reminded you of it. YOU are still convinced it’s the case, without noticing the lack of support for that assertion from virtually anyone else, even and especially of your own persuasions. YOU have neither retracted that assertion nor acknowledged that you might have been hasty. Nobody else. You. Got it now?
Nobody is goading you to do anything but accept responsibility for your own conduct. Blaming others, by name or not, simply helps contribute to the image problem that Scylla, to his credit, has explained in the OP. Now leave me out of your own internal problems, please.
Corrective action being completed, so is this hijack.
Nice post Scylla. As I am on average moderate, so I interpreted the rules to allow me to post here.
Sadly, while your post was factually correct, supported by the history of the forum and the Administration’s direct posts on the matter, a few people have decided not to let those little things sway them. The only thing lost is their credibility.
