My fellow SDMB Democrats! Join me in the Democrat happy dance!

AP and NBC have called VA in favor of Webb (the Democrat). Allen has said that unless the margin slims overnight, he will not call for a recount.

Remember the old radio recording that just about everyone in the US has heard at one time or another: “The Giants win the Penant! The Giants win the Penant! The Giants win the Penant!”? That’s how I feel right now!

I feel about 50% that feeling and 50% fear that this will stir up the religious-right to vote in bigger numbers next time. The Democrats can’t cruise through the next 2 years with their middle fingers in the air like the Republicans have been doing for so long. They’re going to have to work hard and make some compromises to hold onto their seats.

I, for one, would like to extend the warmest of welcomes  .

I’ll welcome you, too, maybe even do the Happy Dance with you!

Do you really think she’ll stick by her claim of bipartisanship, or do you think once the honeymoon is over the long knives will come out?

We don’t need more divisiveness. We need people who are going to buckle down and work.

It’s all well and good that so many of the Republicans want to start being part of the solution after having been a part of the problem for the past 12 years. I will welcome greater honest bipartisanship.

However, like any partner who has committed serious harmful behavior, trust has to be earned. Folks who have not opposed one misstep along the way shouldn’t automatically be welcomed with open arms now. Folks who manipulated the timing of votes, keeping them open well into the night so that they could twist arms, threaten and bribe (with goddamn checks right there on the floor), and who voted for the Delay Rule just because it suited their party’s purpose - these folks have a lot of sinning to make up for.

Allen just conceded the Senate race in Virginia to Webb.

WOO HOO!!!

We’ve taken control of both the House and the Senate!

Must… control… urge to turn cartwheels- I’d probably hurt myself if I did.

Oh, and Tom McClintock, an anti-abortion conservative pol here in CA, lost the race for lieutenant governor. We’ve still got the Governator, but I think he’s not at all bad as Republicans go.

And we should welcome the disgusted Republicans with open arms- after all, if it weren’t for them, we wouldn’t be doing the Happy Dance at all right now.

Not so fast. He’s got one last indelible black streak smattered across his soul.
He knows what I’m talking about…

Cooler! ::Snoopy Dance::

Least Original User Name Ever: Never!

Bah! You might be cast into the gorge of eternal peril!

Forsake…them…lest you be kept out of the dance hall.
How’s your offseason going? Prepared to give gobs of cash to a certain Japanese pitcher?

Burns has officially conceded the Montana senate race, too.

My apologies. Legalize federal funding of stem cell research.

You can Charleston! You’re the bees kness, baby!

<jitterbugs>

(eventually I’ll work my way up to the Electric Slide…)

BOTH houses o’ congress. Well, I’ll be. Does a body good (apparently I’m channeling Aunt Bea today).

I dont’ forget that these “wins” are often razor thin. We need people who can work together. Bush et al proclaimed they would change the tone in DC–and they sure did, to one of virulent nastiness. I hope for this country that we can get back to business as usual. (said tongue in cheek, a bit)

I’m stoked.

I’ll bring the chardonnay and Brie.

Oh, a little ol’ black streak never bothered me. Did you know that if you spritz a little hairspray on it and dab it comes right out?

House AND Senate - Woo hoo!!!

I’ve said it before but it bears repeating–this is the first election day after in a decade that I haven’t felt like a gang bang victim left for dead in a ditch… Not only did we spank those venal SOBs soundly and take back our government (including reelecting our Democrat governor), the local Oregon ballot measures went swimmingly, with parental notification for underage abortion going down like a two bit whore and participation in the state prescription drug plan passing along with some very fiscally responsible measures to ensure proper funding of schools and other infrastructure–we all passed up the chance to give ourselves meaningless tax cuts that would have crippled the state in short order.

To make it all even more fun, the Daily Show/Colbert Report coverage of the election and the day after was so screamingly funny I thought I was going to splash my spleen out through my ribs laughing–especially The Word (sigh–heh heh!) Stephen Colbert has the attitude and the approach nailed–the guy is a frickin’ genius!

Yup, I’m definitely doing the happy kvelling dance of victory, and I wanna see the Dems go to town on letting Shrub know just how lame a duck he really is as of right now, and all his babbling about “bipartisanship” and “putting aside our differences” sounds like the shrilling of an insignificant mosquito. I don’t care if there’s gridlock in Congress, as right now two years of King Log sounds like a lovely vacation from the years of King Stork we’ve had, and if President Asshole tries out his widdle veto pen I say we just shrug and go for investigations instead–while insisting that Halliburton be exhaustively audited for the expenditure of every single cent of taxpayer dollars spent on their no bid contracts in the Middle East. I want bean counters so far up their asses they can’t squeak a fart out without it being counted and recorded…

Open up the septic tank and let the sun shine on the shitpile our government has become! Then get President Limping Fowl out of there, get a businesslike Dem in and maybe we can FINALLY get some work done on what we actually need to accomplish–like taking care of our own people, and getting over this government induced, media exacerbated culture of mindless fear in favor of intelligent governance and proper international diplomacy. It’s time we stopped being the bully and the laughingstock of the world–maybe now our neighbors can begin to believe that the American public actually sports an IQ higher than its average shoe size…

Even more election results to be happy about- some of the “intelligent design” IDiots seem to have been voted out, too

Say, check out this Tom Toles cartoon . . .

. . . followed by this one!

I love Toles!

Another one bites the dust- a seven-term Republican representative from Texas has lost his seat to a Democrat in a runoff election.

And now we all have to pull for [url=]Christine Jennings!
