My fellow SDMB Republicans! Join me in the Republican happy dance!

LOL, I’m sure that this will generate some interesting responces and may eventually end up in the pit…

However, I am slightly right of center and I suppose that I am mostly happy with the outcome.

There are already two pit threads from both sides of the issue. I’m a registered Dem; however, I voted all Republican in this election. As I get older, I find myself moving to the Right more and more.

I certainly didn’t mean to start a pit rant - just stating an obvious position. Politics, like nearly everything else, runs in cycles. As PJ O’Rourke (a very funny, conservative columnist who used to write for Rolling Stone when it still meant something to write for Rolling Stone) pointed out, the Republicans can be counted on to bankrupt the country by pandering to business and industry groups, wrecking havoc with the environment, and espousing a conservative social agenda that inserts the government into areas of private life where it has no business. The Democrats, on the other hand, can be counted on tax and spend themselves into a fit, pull bone-head plays with armed forces, and stumble around in directionless manner trying to be all things to all people. Hey, it is the American way and it keeps things on an even keel.

Happy Dance Happy Dance

Whoo, yah!

I was nervous because I couldn’t vote (stupid precint was one hour away and I forgot to update my voter registration *slaps forehead). Fortunately my vote wasn’t needed.

C’mon, plnnr, the grapes needn’t be that sour. Try going against your nature and trusting us for a change (I know, I know - if you trusted us, you wouldn’t be a yellow-dog D.) I don’t expect a ridiculous amount of runaway pandering - not ofter the past year of mud-ugly big-business flameouts. Our guys will be verrrry careful to avoid giving support to some company that might turn out to be another Enron.

And I may be off base, but PJ never struck me as that much of a conservative. I mean, maybe to a flaming lib he is. From the things he said about Republicans and Democrats, I suspect he’s more of a libertarian.

But he DID leave out a few things from his descripions you posted: [Democrats] can be counted on to bankrupt the country by pandering to [environmentalist and union] groups, wrecking havoc with [the free market], and espousing a [liberal] agenda that inserts the government into areas of [corporate] life where it has no business.

And as I resume my Lutheran white-boy herky-jerky across the dance floor, let me say that the reason I’m celebrating is that for the first time in fifty years, well actually have a government that’s doing some good.

Oh, and hey, if nothing else, (and knowing how much Republicans being in power drives 'em completely 'round the bend) we’ll have two years of left-wing wack-jobs parading the streets, beating drums, and shouting incomprehensible slogans for us to point and laugh at.

You do that too?

Well, just a small ‘woohoo’ here from me. I’ve very, very glad that KKT lost here.

GO PUBBIES
GO PUBBIES
IT’S OUR BIRTHDAY

Take that, Sanchez!

Uh huh… takes down names

I should be happy, but alas, it’s not possible.

My new governor is Bill Richardson…

Don’t feel bad, I got stuck with Gray Davis again.

Continues Happy Dance

Careful, Opal.

Or else I’ll start dancing at Fathom, too.
[sup]:: Chants to self, “I will not “neener-neener” RTFirefly. I will not “neener-neener” RTFirefly. I will not…” ::—[/sup]:o

Muad’Dib, I felt sorry for all you Californians. What a wretched choice you had out there for governor. They both suck.

It was clear out here that KKT ran a craptacular campaign. I don’t remember a single campaign ad of hers. I’m sure I saw them, but I don’t remember any of them, and that’s the problem. I do remember plenty of Erlich ads though. However, I am disturbed by his total lack of sideburns.

Also, to all my fellow Washingtonian Dopers, if you find yourself tripping on mysterious black strips of fabric, don’t be alarmed. Those are just GWB’s massive coattails. Say what you will about his policies or his intellect, the man did an amazing job of getting key Republican candidates into office.

I am not doing any dance because I don’t wish to make my views known in this thread, and since I live in DC, I can’t vote for anyone anyway. Ah, the life of a second-class citizen. :frowning:

whooooo hoooo

low carb beer then the 'pub’s take the senet
life is good.

Hey, Mensch–I’m doing the Church Lady happy dance right along with ya!!

Woohoo!

Republicans dancing on the internet…now I’ve seen everything…

I’m dancing, but not as enthusiastically as I would…I live in California. With one possible exception (last I heard it was still a toss-up), we got the same stale collection of dems back in every top spot. Could someone from back east send us a successful Republican politician, please? I’m getting tired of waiting for Schwarzenegger to finally announce…

Michael Ellis, you live in Santa Cruz? Man, I feel your pain.

Well, we usually have to keep quiet on the internet…Gore would be pissed.

Well, my happy-dance has been happening for a few hours… but mostly for the following reason: NOW we will actually get to see if the Pubbies can do some good or not! Without the Dems to block stuff, the Pubbies may actually get some needed stuff through for once!

If not, I’m resigning.

OH YEA! OH YEA! OH YEA! ** Swings arms and wiggles butt **
