My friend Mike passed about an hour ago from COVID

My friend Mike passed about an hour ago. I’m still trying to process this. I knew him for 44 year. He was a regular at our Thanksgiving and New Years. Our kids called him Uncle Mike.

We hung out, gamed, worked on wooden boats and helped put on Festivals together.

I knew him longer than any none family member. Since before High school.

I’m so sorry for your tragic loss, my friend.

Hugs to you. This is never an easy situation.

My deepest condolences.

Very sorry.

I’m very sorry for your loss and I hope his more than four decades of friendship is a comfort to you, as I’m sure it was for him.

Wow. I’m so sorry.

That sucks and my condolences. I can’t imagine losing someone this time of year, especially such an old, close friend.

Aside from you, does he have family? Was he vaccinated? How long from the time he was diagnosed until he died? (Sorry if this is out of line, no disrespect; I have both unvaxxed and vaxxed people in my life, and I’ve never had it, but I am always interested in hearing about COVID cases directly from people that have had it or know people who have gotten it.)

May your memories of your dear friend Mike, and, if applicable to your situation, the grace and love of God comfort you in your time of loss.

My condolences at your loss. May he rest in peace and his memory be a blessing.

I am very sorry.

I am sorry for your loss. Damn this virus to hell.

So Mike lived alone, once his Grandmother passed was estranged from his family. He lived in the same apartment since 1974. My friend and I are basically going to try and get his affairs in order. Starting by locating either his very estranged mother or hopefully a will of some sort.

I’m also hoping we can find his DD-214. He was a Navy Vet. With the DD-214 he is eligible for some burial/internment help.

He didn’t have much, but without any paper, this becomes a lot more complicated.

You’re a good person, to do this for your friend.

I’m so sorry to hear this. No one is getting out of this pandemic unscathed.

What_Exit, that just bites. My condolences to you.

A funeral home can help get some of the necessary military documents, or point you where to start the process.

That is good to know, thank you.

Very sorry for your loss.

You have my condolences. I lost a friend to COVID earlier this year. Someone I’d known as long as you knew your friend (since '66).
