I, for one, had no idea what GB referred to, and it sounds like the sister needs an intervention.

I know people like to think they’d know if their loved one had a drug problem, but it was the GF’s car that was taken and the GF who was incommunicado. Wouldn’t be the first time a drug user blamed their misadventure on a family member, especially one who the OP isn’t close to.

Thanks for the lecture, Dad, but my use of “GB” (it means Giraffe Boards) was not out of laziness but more out of an assumption that most Dopers were aware of its existence. But your concern is noted and will be given the appropriate amount of consideration going forward.

GB was news to me, Assumeopatronum. Lots of this on the Dope, where folks use arcane shorthand - the rest of us get that you know what you’re talking about, but then we have to turn to the goog for help. Breaks up the flow, y’know?

And it does look like our OP has faded away, but it’s hard to imagine a 10,000 post stalwart leaving with no explanation, after roping us in.

Hope SuperDude’s okay. I’m imagining all sorts of scenarios…
… my current favorite being that he confronted the GF, and she confessed to knowing the drug guys. So GF and SD use the sister as a decoy, and… in the season finale, they take down the cartel.

Agreed. I’ve known about the Giraffe Board, but I didn’t make the connection to GB and it was an unnecessary obstacle.

I like puzzles and riddles, but on my own schedule.

Hey, I’ve posted on ‘The Jee-Beez’ (as I will now call it forever). But I had to stop reading this thread, google GB (which did no good), then “cogitate a spell” til I had TLBM*.

And if you don’t like getting side-tracked (or worse, feeling stupid) when people use terms and acronyms you don’t know, stay away from academia. I’m supposed to do the long-form LYSQIP for my BYSQIP to be bcc’ed to the AAD of the BAAD, but I’m going to wait 'til an AAD notices (months, if ever:).

I have a sister, the family baby in fact. Who has dealt so much crap to her family. Her 4 kids and inlaws, her 2 ex’s. It wouldn’t take 2 seconds for me to decide to turn her over to police about WAY less than this. But the OP has to do what he can live with. That doesn’t mean he shouldn’t have a serious conversation with her. Get a handle on it, Superdude. Let us know how it goes. I wish you peace in whatever you do.

Yea. No one wants to intervene with family members (or good friends). I would want my baby girl to not die. I hope I would have the courage to get her/them some help. If calling the law is necessary, I think I would do it. And yes I would be torn apart about it.
It’s a hard thing.
