Damn, I don’t think I wanna do things I like doing for 12 hours.
I hung a bunch of pictures and stuff on the walls today, ran to the grocery store, went to Ace, came home and am getting some work-like junk out of the way before work tomorrow.
Dinner is a nice hunk-o-pork tenderloin and some pilaf.
I am swimming the English Channel this summer, or trying to. There is a thread around here somewhere about it. Anyway I picked today to do the whole distance in the pool, which I did, then decided I might as well go on another hour until the pool closed. Because my mind was evidently broken at the time. Everything hurts. I am really not looking forward to doing this in open water.
I have flapped flapjacks, had lunch, and napped. That’s about all I am going to do today.
FCM, my granddad and dad were and are Knights, too(Dad joined after I did, though). My uncles left Granddad’s sword on his car one day, and it fell off somewhere in California.
Good afternoon everyone. Today, so far, has been very lazy. However, hubby is fixing to go to the store so he can buy fixin’s for the dinner he’s preparing tonight.
Yesterday was spent cleaning up downstairs, then friends came over and we went to dinner. We had a couple of “nerve tonics” before going to dinner. We ate at Outback, then came back here for more “nerve tonic”. We played various console and board games, accompanied by more “nerve tonic”. They didn’t leave until about 2:30 this morning. We had a really good time and there was much laughing and jocularity.
I got up just before 8:00 am, initially, but ended up falling back asleep in our great big comfy chair and didn’t wake until nearly 11:00. Good grief!
One of our nephews and his fiancee and baby are coming to dinner, along with another niece. That’s why the hubby is cooking tonight. I need to touch up clean around here, and do some laundry. That’s about all I’ve got planned for today.
Sounds like a nice weekend, Boo, despite the loud music.
And, yes, chickie, please explain the need to swim the English Channel!!!
Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. It’s cold. weather.com says it’s 18 degrees murrkin out there, with a wind chill of 3 degrees (-8 and -17 in those other degrees).
Went to brunch after church, then did a big round of hunting and gathering: Mexican grocery, Trader Joe’s, Wild Oats. Still need to plan menus for the week, do some cleaning and some laundry. Oh, and I decided to make some picadillo with the rest of the chicken boobies in the freezer (shredded chicken with a bunch of stuff - olives, almonds, raisins and a little bit of tomato sauce). Which reminds me that I forgot to pick up almonds.
Guess I need to go to the grocery on the corner to pick those up.
Yay! One of my flatmates came home and took pity on me, so now I have food. As to a reason for swimming the channel, I can’t think of anything sensible at the moment, so I will go with “Because it’s there”.
chickie if the urge to swim the English Channel has struck ya, then I say go with the urge. What? Makes sense to me.
I’ve been to Wally*World tonight and to Wendy’s for a burger. Ima make some taco soup tomorrow evening to be supper for the next couple nights. Tomorrow’s supper is chicken pie which is already made and just needs to be cooked. It’s going to be a cold week here in south Jawja so I’m goin’ for big warm stuff to eat this week. Anywho, I needed some black olives for the soup plus I was out of sour cream  so I had to go to the store. Can’t have taco soup without a big whack of sour cream in it now can we?
So tell me, why do boys think you can’t tell when they’re doing something else while they’re talking on the phone with you? My brother does this to me with unfortunate regularity. Drives me nuts. I tend to just give up and end the call because it doesn’t actually seem to have much of an effect when I call him on it.
Soup sounds yum, swampy, although I’m not sure I could put ranch dressing mix in soup.
I have laundry in the dryer and then I’m going to beddy-bye.
Where is everyone this evening? Having a nice time, I hope.
I’ve been making Valentines for the SDMB valentine swap. I let my inner 6 year old loose with the stickers, so I ran out halfway through. Have to buy more tomorrow. I also found some peculiar Valentine puzzle things at Target that I’m including as well. They’re, well, weird. Perfect for a Doper exchange!
I also put together a final gift box for a knitting swap. I had a flat rate priority mail box and crammed a ton of stuff into it. I had to lean on it to tape it closed. I will be the annoying woman in line at the post office tomorrow, with a jillion different things to mail, plus buying stamps. Maybe I should buy a money order for something to complete the trifecta of irritation!
I was surfing around looking at yarns online, and ended up ordering some Misti Alpaca lace weight yarn to try. In a beautiful green called “melange forest.” It looks simply gorgeous; I can’t wait to try it out.
And I’ve been checking out the cat enjoying her new treat. We got a really nicely homemade 6-foot-tall cat tree from a freecycler, with five different platforms. Needless to say, Her Majesty is sitting atop the highest platform. Now, if she starts doing half-gainers with a full twist onto Papa Tigs from the platform, it may not stay in its current location, but I’m hoping her sense of self-preservation overcomes her desire to be a pest. Only time will tell!
