Archaeology (or “cultural resources”) is part of the environmental compliance process. Nobody does it because they want to, they do it because the law requires it. We do contract work for utility companies, state and federal agencies, the military, etc. Most working archaeologists in the U.S. do consulting work as opposed to academia.
Receptionist at a family practice clinic
Second job:
Barista
But we are in the yellow pages under Archaeologists so about once a month or so I get somebody coming in who has a box of “treasures” and wants to know how old they are and much they’re worth.
Third job:
Security at a hospital
(Not as glamorous as it sounds)
Stay at home mom.
I work part-time for a small non-profit, as their Social Media and PR Manager.

(I get all the stories and don’t have to deal with all the blood.)

As for me I am a standardized writing test grader. I work at home grading tests testing students as young as third grade and as advanced as two years of college. I’m also a professional writer and occasional writing tutor but that’s been mentioned already.

((or as some inmates like to joke, a public pretender))
I had one very nice young man tell me I really should go to law school because he thought I would be an awesome, “real attorney.”
Applied behavior analyst (aka behavior therapist).
