My Last BatDope or Freyr leaves Austin

Oh yeah, I’ll be there too, by the way.

As of right now, I’m not sure we can make it. I heard some very scary stuff about the road conditions between San Antonio and Austin, and I’m not sure it’s a good idea to go.

Robin

Robin, I think you should not try to make it, from what I’ve heard. Seguin, New Braunfels, and many other towns have been badly hit.

I won’t be coming after all; not at all sure that I could even get through New Braunfels right now, since the Guadalupe River goes right under IH 35. That, and since I had that flat tire in the pouring rain on Monday, I haven’t been able to replace my tire, so I have no spare tire at all. In this weather, with the construction going on, that’s too risky for me. A new tire will have to wait till payday next week, dagnabit.

Please take care of yourselves, all of you. Best wishes, Freyr. Keep in touch as you can. Consider yourself hugged in absentia. {{{{{{Freyr}}}}}}

For more details on the weather down here, see the thread that sweet Scotti started for me last night.

And I am doubly upset that I am going to miss seeing Tapioca in lycra!* POUT*

I’ll send a pic if you’re desperate

Yeah, we missed it. We saw some footage this morning that kinda changed our minds, especially with me being as pregnant as I am.

Sorry we couldn’t make it. :frowning:

Hehehe… No, not desperate, but sure! Send a pic, by all means. My email addy is in my profile. innocent but sassy smile
Sorry I missed it, hope all had a great time.

Thanks to everyone who could make it! To those who couldn’t, especially 'cause of the weather, your good thoughts are appreciated!

As for my bike, I just need to find a replacement retainer ring for the shift lever. It should be no biggie. I had a great conversation with the tow-truck driver about how to get into biking and what to do.

Sorry I couldn’t make it. I had 4 kids and 4 grandkids in town for the holiday. As scattered as my family is, that’s a gathing not to be missed.

Sorry, but glad y’all had a good time.

Best of luck Freyr!

Jim

So who actually made it?

Well, of course Freyr was there, as well as myself, Ringo, and Tapioca Dextrin. Small group, but we had a good time.

I guess it wasn’t the best weekend to plan things. Next time, I think we should organize our Batdope around the flash floods. I’m glad you didn’t try to get out of San Antone Purplebear and Ms. Robyn. We know you wanted to attend, but seeing as how some of the highways were UNDERWATER, we understood.

And I’m glad that your bike’s easily fixed there Freyr. Did you manage to get enough parts to get home alright, or did you end up having to get a lift? Are you driving it to California? Would be a fun trip, but it doesn’t seem like you’d be able to bring much in the way of personal items with you. Do they make trailer hitches for motorcycles?

Anyway, it was good seeing those who made it. Have a safe trip out ther eFreyr, and best of luck to you. Let us know when you head back into town, and we’ll arrange a little catchup Batdope. Until then, via von dios (or los dioses, in your case).

It was worth the trip. We got to see Freyr off on the next phase of his life - good luck with it, pal! I just feel like you’ll do well with it. And I was able to renew acquaintance with Elvis and Tapioca. I was able to tie it in with a visit with my oldest friend and his family, so it worked out great! BTW, he seemed inordinately curious about the board - watch for a new poster from Austin.

As noted above, Freyr’s bike conked out on him on his way in, so waiting for his rescue truck extended the time we had to converse. All in all, a good meet.

I drove up listening to news of the floods, and I would actually have been surprised had either Robin or purrplebear appeared. I’m glad y’all are both OK. And don’t worry, we will get together again. That goes for you, too, Jim.

So I just got back. 54½ hours away from the board! Are y’all still here? Did the world end? Somebody, give me a thread. Give me a post! GIVE ME A CITE!
