My Misspent Youth - the MMP

because you’re coming to dinner tonght

I just have to get over myself - I’m still going (coming? driving? whatever) I just spoke to mousie - and had some more caffeine - both helped

oh yeah - it was definitely a lack of caffeine issue - okay - off to finish packing and hit the road.
beebs, mousie, & hawkeye - see you tonight. Everyone else, “see” you Sunday evening.

Morning, all. When I woke up, it was actually warmer outside than in! So I’m enjoying it while it lasts because a cold front will come through later. It’s so nice to open windows and enjoy fresh air in the morning, though.

{{MBG}} We’re here for you, you know that. And it sounds like you’re doing what you need to, so keep up the good work!

Hi, Kai! Nice to see you! You can keep your visitor, however.  (What kind of spider was that, anyway? )

If you’re going to grope my daughter, beebs, please go to room 304! I don’t want to know what’s going on!

Love your stuff, Spaz! I definitely plan on reading more.

Anyone else I forgot, hugs, yays, boos, etc. as appropriate – you know who you are, come and get 'em!

I got nuttin’ much this morning, except to continue to caffeinate and work whilst enjoying the lovely breeze. Until the rain arrives, that is. It would be nice to have more than one warm day in a row; I guess I’ll have to wait a few more weeks for that. Silly spring, can’t decide if it’s really here or not.

Oh, I wish I “could” just change the master. This presentation is in a file that is probably about 15 years old, has been completely altered at least annually, has had many different hands in it, is composed of slides with charts, graphics, and tables that have been set outside of the master. Trust me, I have the PowerPoint tee-shirt. But thanks so much for the offer of help.

Oh, yeah, and I forgot to say today is my 18-year work anniversary. :stuck_out_tongue:

You have whooshed me.

FTR: I have no intention of groping anyone connected to the MMP. This is important to mention today.

Good grief, it’s snowing out there! This has been a crazy-weather March for sure, but since it came in so lamby it has to go out roaring I guess!

Woke up to a lovely inbox fulla stupid religio-glurge about Mondex smart cards and the Mark of the Beast    but the sender was too stupidy to BCC the list so I got to “reply all” with the Snopes link, yay!! The best part was that the subject line was “Urgent news that you MUST see before it is pulled from the internet!!!11!eleventy!!” as though there were ANY CHANCE IN HELL that ANY glurge EVER goes away! I swear there are glurge emails still being forwarded around that some dipshit at ARPA came up with in like 1979…

I got about thirty generator units fabbed yesterday, everything but the welding and final gluing together, in about five hours–which means that if we can swing injection molding tooling costs we are well within our original estimates for fabrication costs on these suckers, yay! It sure would be nice if some lovely investor would drop some ready cash on us soon, though, because it’s driving me nuts having to pay top dollar for components because we can’t afford to get the bulk discounts. Anybody have a spare ten grand laying around they want to invest in saving the world? I can send you a business plan!

Mmm, coffee good. All you sickies get better, y’hear? You don’t want to be sick on the weekend do you? Well then, snap to it! :stuck_out_tongue:

ETA: beebs, the road to hell is PAVED with good intentions, so watch it, mister!! We have our collective gimlet/eagle eye on you!

:: gropes SmartAleq::

snowbunny is my daughter – didn’t you know? You offered to rub her sore boobies for her. Hence my request to take it to Room 304. Some things a mother just shouldn’t see.

Whoops.

I am awfully obtuse sometimes. Sorry.

But is she single?

Exactly. I’ve had a few friends go through various issues and problems, and you need to keep reminding yourself “I’m not nuts!”

If the chemistry in your pancreas isn’t right, you get diabetes. Very treatable. If bacteria take up residence in your sinuses (like they’ve done to mine!) you go to the doc and some chemistry in the form of antibiotics sets things right again.

Same for your head. You and your doctor just need to work together on what will be a life-changing journey to figure out what chemistry’s gone off and what the best solution will be.

Hang in there. I don’t know who’s with you in person, but there’s a whole bunch of us here for you.

heaves heavy sigh

picks up large, moist salmon

smacks beebs firlmy across the chops

Work, work, work–it’s never finished, is it? I work my fingers to the bone, etc., grump grr…

surveys job well done

wanders off

ETA: First on ten, w00t!!

I am single, beebs but the groping will have to wait. Just because I said the word “boobs” doesn’t mean I want any groping. At least not right now. Owie.

The Nyquil box says take two every six hours. SIX HOURS? I took mine 12 hours ago and I still feel woozy.

It helped me sleep - I was out like a light. I don’t know if it helped anything else though. I actually feel a bit worse today. Maybe coffee will help.

SmartAleq, you can’t use a salmon to slap people around. Salmon must always be eaten. As sashimi. Mmmm.

Nyquil still works for people? Ever since they changed it and took out the diphenhydramine, it’s been all but useless for me. I’m also not happy that they took out the pseudoephedrine from the Dayquil. They replaced it with phenylephrine, but my sinuses only giggle at its ineffectiveness.

So, I have to plan ahead and go to the pharmacy for real Sudafed, since only criminals get colds now.

Would I have told you to take it to Room 304 if she wasn’t? Otherwise I would have gone all Mama Tigerish on you.

Evening all. Grocery shopping was accomplished today with a minimum of fuss, although the cover charge seems to get steeper every week ($220 this week  ) - darn piss-weak US dollar keeps our inflation riding high! The only thing of interest in my shopping was a new printer/scanner/copier for home, since the last one crapped out a couple of weeks ago (it was the thingamie-doohickie that pulls the paper through). The new one cost me about $50, which is probably cheaper than any repairs/replacement parts for the old one!

I also looked for birthday presents for HRH (she turns 1 next Sunday, April 6th - time flies when you[del]'re having fun[/del] have a child!), but couldn’t find anything decent. Mind you, I only looked in the hypermarket. I need to find time to scoot down to Toys ‘R’ Us during the week to find the poppet some nice things and even nicer wrapping paper!

I found a new online RPG which looks interesting - my first real foray into the stuff, if truth be told. Anyone know anything about Renaissance Kingdoms?

Smarty, use salmon all you want, or even a nice big fat tuna - I can’t stand the stuff!!! But leave the fresh trout alone - that I DO like!

Sorry, I have my head so far up my own a**hole lately, I forgot to do this - {{{{MBG}}}}

{{MBG}} CBT was a godsend for me, especially after the nightmare that was SSRIs. Hopefully it will be as useful for you.

McUne, I’m particularly fond of the copycat recipe for Cinnabon rolls. It uses a packet of instant vanilla pudding in the dough, which may seem kinda gross, but actually makes for a really soft, sweet bun. This one looks pretty similar to the one I have written down at home.

Sooo… I’m finally done with approvals of training materials and the review hell that went along with that. YAY!

Now I get to look forward to one more week of systems testing, followed by a week or two of running user awareness sessions (which may or may not involve travel to exotic places like Vancouver and Montreal), and then providing war room support for what will probably seem like an eternity but will likely be more like 4-5 weeks.

…and then, I have no idea what the hell I’m going to be doing.

For real.

I’m alternating between relief over having a light at the end of this tunnel and total fear over leaving the warm confines of Project Land and having to adjust again to my old Sucktastic Corporate Job. Gulp.

On the bright side, I have leftover Red Curry Beef for lunch (N.O.L.). Yum!

I’ve taken Claritin for allergies for gasp more than 10 years now, I more than understand. I just got back from getting them as a matter of fact. CVS now scans the driver’s liscense into their computer.

:snerk: One good thing about living where I do is that I can buy pseudoephedrine over the counter. I keep a stock of Clarinase in my medicine drawer at all times!
